  1. Portugal look like a strong team, but you incredibly have a 41 year old and a 39 year old starting for Portugal today. Both of them outfield players. I think that's a 1st.
  2. This is Cristiano Ronaldo's 6th European Championships, this is his 208th international appearance for Portugal and he has scored 130 international goals so far. Those are unprecedented stats, quite unbelievable.
  3. Turkey score their 3rd goal on the counter attack as Akturkoglu shot the ball into the empty net as Georgian keeper was upfield trying to assist his attack. Turkey win and get the 3 points. Turkey 3-1 Georgia
  4. Georgia hit the post and the rebound shot is blocked on the line by the Turkish defender! Georgia so close to scoring there once again!
  5. Georgia with a shot in front of goal that goes narrowly wide of the post! Georgia were so closed to equalising there!
  6. What a superb long range shot goal that is! Lovely goal by Guler! Turkey 2-1 Georgia
  7. Great to see Georgia holding their own here and maintaining this draw. Lets hope they can keep up the effort in this 2nd half.
  8. I have to say, this Romania team looks like a really solid unit. I mean Ukraine have obviously played better games, but the likes of Mudryk and Sudakov were dribbling past 3 or 4 players at times, but there was always another Romanian covering. They'd have like 2 or 3 players pressuring and marking 1 Ukrainian at other times as well. It was almost impossible for Ukraine to find a way through the middle of the Romanian defence and when Ukraine got down the flanks to put crosses in, the Romanian defence excellently cleared the ball. Their defence was even blocking shots, they hardly gave Ukraine any space in the final 3rd of the pitch. Ukraine had 72% possession, 8 corners, 13 shots and a passing accuracy of 87%. But all that counted for nothing, because Romania's defence was as strong as a fortress. Even looking at the goals, the 1st goal was caused by a poor clearance, but that finish by Stanciu was unstoppable. The 2nd goal started when the ball broke to the onrushing Razvan Marin who lined up the shot and struck the ball 1st time, hard, low and and into the corner of the net. One could say Lunin could have done better, because the ball went in under his dive in his attempt to save the ball. But that shot was struck with a lot of venom and accuracy, as well as the fact it was swerving into the corner of the net as it went in. So yeah, a top class keeper like Lunin will have wanted to save that, but it was sweetly struck. For the 3rd goal, Dennis Man went on a run into the area, skipped past Shaparenko's poor tackle effort too easily and then crossed for Dragus to tap the ball into the net. Romania were solid and efficient. If they replicate this formula and performance against Belgium, I agree, they could shock the Belgians as well. The pressure is on Belgium and Ukraine in their next matches, not so much Romania and Slovakia. For Ukraine, I'd like to see Brazhko or Malinovskyi start next to Stepanenko as midfield enforcers. Or even have both start and have Stepanenko on the bench. Either way, there probably needs to be 2 strong robust ball winners behind Mudryk, Sudakov, Tsyhankov and Dovbyk. Shaparenko is best suited to a more attacking role in midfield. Both Brazhko and Malinovskyi played relatively well when they came on at different moments of the 2nd half. It would also be good to see Mykolenko back at left back, if he recovers in time from his injury for the next match.
  9. It will be interesting to see how the Czech Republic hold out against this star studded Portuguese team. I am a little surprised that the Czech manager didn't select Pavlenka, Kral and Cvancara in his squad for the Euros. But this Czech side looks strong enough and they kick-off their campaign against a Portuguese side who are among the favourites to win this competition.
  10. Fingers crossed the underdogs Georgia win this match. Georgia might be the lowest ranked team at these Euros, even behind Albania, but I think they have the potential to produce a surprise here if they play to their strengths. Turkey are strong favourites, but it would be a bit of a fairy tale if little Georgia managed to get a positive result in this match. Their goalkeeper Mamardashvili and forwards Kvaratshkelia and Zivzivadze, will have to have big games if Georgia are going to spring a surprise.
  11. Yeah, they probably are going to make it out of the group
  12. Zinchenko is Ukraine's best player my arse. He's probably one of the most off form Ukrainian players right now. He was poor yesterday at left-back and that certainly is not his best position. The sooner Mykolenko returns from injury, the better for Ukraine.
  13. I conned you?? LMFAO... I said I thought Ukraine would win, that's an opinion. It was an error of judgement, even Einstein made errors, lol. I never envisaged that Romania would camp their whole team in the penalty box for large periods and counter in numbers at that rapid pace. Those fuckers were fighting as if their lives depended on it. Their manager looks to have tactically gotten them playing to their strengths. PS I never told anyone to bet on anything. I hope you didn't put your mortgage on it buddy.
  14. How did Mbappe miss that??!! Mbappe was one on one with the keeper but he put his shot wide of the post!
  15. France score through an own goal by Wober! Mbappe dribbled past his marker on the flank and crossed the ball into the area, only for Wober to head the ball into his own net. Austria 0-1 France
  16. Huge chance that for Austria, Baumgartner put through on goal by Sabitzer and Baumgartner's shot was excellently save by the French keeper Maignan.
  17. This Austrian side look strong, they should give the French a tough match here. It's a blow for the Austrian defence that Alaba didn't recover in time with his injury to make these Euros, but they have other good and experienced defenders. I love the Austrian midfield, especially Laimer and Sabitzer. France look like they will need inspiration from Mbappe to get past this tough looking Austrian side.
  18. It must be a great atmosphere in Dusseldorf for today's match. I am sure the city is full of French and Austrian fans. Have you managed to make the match @Tommy?
  19. Well yeah, this is obviously not a good result for Belgium, but Slovakia beating Belgium is probably also a bad result for Ukraine. Slovakia will have much less pressure when they play Ukraine in their next match. Ukraine have to take the game to Slovakia and not get caught on the break. Ukraine will have to deliver the win against the Slovaks if they want a realistic chance of qualifying for the next round.
  20. The referee blows his whistle and Slovakia defeat Belgium in Frankfurt! A huge historic win this for Slovakia against a highly ranked European team like Belgium. Belgium 0-1 Slovakia
