  1. I've only just read this on a site online, what a shame he has decided to retire. I always admired him as a defender, he was always solid and influential. I guess he is yet another German WC 2014 winner to retire, after Schurrle retired some weeks ago. All the best to him in whatever he decides to do in the future.
  2. Klaassen staying is a huge boost for Werder, as he is the main creative force in their midfield in my opinion.
  3. Forgot about Bittencourt, he is bound to again play a crucial role in Werder's season. There are so many forwards at Werder right now, but Kruse would definitely be a welcome addition, as he would be a starter for sure. He is such an impactful player when he is on form. I have a feeling though that Fullkrug could have quite an impactful season as well, he just needs to avoid getting injuries.
  4. I think it's very likely that Kruse will return and what a boost that would be for Werder's attack. Kruse will keep fellow regular forwards Fullkrug, Sargent, Selke and Osako on their toes if he joins.
  5. Yes, Muller's age is definitely a factor to consider. But he is essentially Mr Bayern Munich, the local lad who came good and who has played his entire career at Bayern, winning so much in the process. In an ideal world, it would be great to see Bayern buy Havertz and a defensive midfielder to add to their signing of Sane. But money is always an issue, especially in these current times of COVID-19. I am personally hoping that Havertz stays at Leverkusen for one more season, but Chelsea and Real Madrid might have something to say about that. As for Nubel, I do not see him replacing the impressive Neuer next season, however he may be given a few first team games to keep him happy. We also can't rule out Neuer getting injured at some point next season, so Nubel could be an ideal back up. Nubel is still very young and I am sure that he will be content playing second fiddle to the mighty Neuer for at least one season. I don't think that being a sub will hurt Nubel's development, he is being trained by the very best at Bayern and who else is better to learn from as a goalkeeper than Neuer.
  6. I think that it would be foolish to buy Bakayoko as I don't think that he will be good enough for Bayern and yes, it would be great to have Havertz at Bayern. But the problem is that Bayern are looking for a defensive midfielder and not so much an offensive midfielder. Bayern have already made one big summer signing when they bought Leroy Sane and as I understand it, they will only potentially make one more big summer signing. However, it is the defensive midfield position that they seem to be prioritising. Bayern were at one point very interested in Havertz, but with Thomas Muller returning to his world class best, Bayern don't seem to see the urgency in spending 90 million euros on Havertz this summer. If Havertz stays at Leverkusen for the upcoming season, then I am sure that Bayern will attempt to buy him next summer. I would personally love to see Havertz at Bayern, he would be incredible in this world class Bayern team.
  7. Please noooooo! You would think that with the prospective sale of Rashica for £33 million plus this summer, that Werder would have the resources to keep the rest of their better players. I would prefer to flog off a player like Osako, where I agree with Devil-Dick that he is a bit of a lightweight, despite his eagerness. There are plenty of bargain players that Bremen could bring in and benefit from, they just need to do their homework.
  8. Unfortunately for a club like LASK, having to sell your best players is usually a must, in order to stay financially healthy. But it's good that they are spending the money they made from the Euro competitions wisely. Investing in young prospects is a very sensible strategy for them. I watch the Danish league sometimes, but I can't say that I have followed Mads Madsen, who was playing for bottom of the Danish Superliga club Silkeborg. It seems to me that LASK have probably overpaid for him, as €1.6 million is a lot of money by their standards. Maybe Madsen can prove me wrong. Karamoko didn't quite make it at Wolfsburg, but he did play 1 Bundesliga game for them, which still says a lot about his ability and potential. At 20, he has the potential to really improve and the fact that a big club like Wolfsburg bought him in the first place, tells me that he must have something to him. Yehven Cheberko I have seen play several times, but I watched him mainly when he was a teenager playing for the now defunct team, Dnipro. He has also looked a very talented young midfielder and I am sure that he will do a decent job at LASK. It's a shame that Tetteh, Michorl, Schlager and Frieser are all likely to leave. Hopefully LASK will invest the money received from the transfers of these players to buy even more players. It would be nice if Klauss stayed for one more season, because lets face it, he's going to find it very hard to break into the Hoffenheim team.
  9. Oh I see, well he will be a loss if they aren't able to extend his loan spell. No doubt other LASK players will leave as well, I can see several German Bundesliga clubs gaining an interest in their better players.
  10. Rapid win 3-1 in the end, it's a shame for LASK, they started the season so promisingly both domestically and in Europe. Klauss got LASK's consolation goal today, but I am not even sure if LASK will be able to hold on to him for next season, as he will likely return to his parent club Hoffenheim.
  11. Yes, RB Salzburg kind of have a monopoly on this league. Unfortunately, money talks when the difference in the budget capabilities of clubs is so great. Unless another rich company or an oligarch takes over one of the other Austrian clubs, I think we can be fairly confident that Salzburg will continue to dominate for years to come.
  12. Yes, apparently Red Bull doesn't only give you wings, it gives you the Austrian Bundesliga title year in and year out as well! I notice Rapid have taken an early lead against LASK, it's not the best start for LASK, but there's plenty of the match still to be played. Lets hope LASK can make a comeback.

    Tennis

Shame there's no Wimbledon this July, I always look forward to seeing the best tennis players in action during the summer. I guess we will have to wait another year before we watch top class tennis on the lawn again.
  14. Well they are both world class players, there is little doubt in that. However, I would suggest that Sane is slightly the more rounded player. Sure they both have electric pace and they are both really influential wingers. I would even probably say that Sterling works harder for the team, he's always running everywhere and closing players down, however, I think that Sane is a much better finisher. It's not surprising why some people have felt that Sane could be a real success as a central attacker, where his scoring abilities could be better utilised. The same can't be said about Sterling, even though he has admittedly improved his finishing technique. If we are talking about both their roles as wingers, then I think that it is telling that it was only at the start of 2019, that Guardiola practically said that Sane was the best winger in the world. Now Pep has worked with both players almost on a daily basis for years now, you would think that he knows what he is talking about. I personally think that Sane has incredible potential, if he avoids injuries and if he is well settled. Sane should feel at home back in Germany playing for Bayern and he ought be well looked after, by some of the best medical staff in the world there. I believe that Sane will likely be a sensation at Bayern. With all due respect to Gnabry and Coman, who are both superb wingers in their own right, Sane promises to be an even bigger hit than they have been.
  15. Yes, Bayern have reportedly tied the deal. The transfer will initially cost £44.7 million followed by £10 million in achievable add-ons. So in total, Bayern will probably be spending around £54.7 million on him. That's not a very high transfer fee in today's market for a player of Sane's quality. I have to agree with you when you call him an incredible player. At his best, he is unstoppable and a huge threat to opponents. He should thrive at Bayern with all the quality he has around him. He just needs to sort his attitude out sometimes and be more professional. I don't know about you, but I rate him higher than Sterling, despite Sterling having more success at City. Sane has pace to burn, he can dribble and he is an excellent scorer, he strikes the ball beautifully. If Flick and Bayern manage to get the best out of him, Sane could become a magnificent player at Bayern.
  16. Yeah, to be honest an English club would seem his most likely destination on the face of it. Most English clubs have a lot of money and 38 million euros is not seen as shit load of money anymore in English football. He could go to RB Leipzig, but I would have thought Leipzig would like to buy Schick and Angelino outright. Both have been relative successes since they joined RB. The option to buy Schick stands at €28 milllion, while Angelino would cost €30 million. I know RB Leipzig have just received a lot of money from the sale of Werner, but I doubt that they will spend big money transfers on all of Schick, Angelino and Rashica. That would be a lot of money, even for their standards. But we will have to wait and see what they decide. In addition to the English clubs I mentioned above, both Liverpool and Southampton are seemingly also interested in him. Then there is also AC Milan, who will have a budget of around €75 million to spend this summer. Plus they will have Rangnick, who apparently knows Rashica well and really admires him as a player. Anyway, it will be interesting to see where he ends up, because he's certainly in high demand right now.
  17. Yeah, it's very likely that Rashica will leave. RB Leipzig, Hertha Berlin, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham, Aston Villa, Brighton and AC Milan have all been linked with him. I just read an article which was written after today's win, that was eulogizing Rashica as a player. The article suggests that Werder should build their future around the Albanian forward. But yeah, the odds on him leaving are high, especially as Werder could really do with the money. If Werder stay up, I believe Rashica's release clause stands at 38 million euros. That's a lot of money for Werder and I think that several clubs might be willing to pay that amount for Rashica. I am sure Werder will hold out for 38 million euros if they stay up. They would be a little daft to let an in demand player of his calibre, to leave for much less than that.
  18. Despite their huge win today, Werder will quickly be focussing on the upcoming play-offs. No doubt they will also be following tomorrow's 2. Bundesliga matches to see who they are going to meet in the 2 legged face off. If Werder manage to remain in the Bundesliga, they will likely be able to keep hold of most of their key players, which will be a real boost for their future ambitions. Rashica is the most in demand player of theirs, but there is even a small chance that he could remain with them if they stay up.
  19. LMAO.... a written warning for driving under the speed limit???!!! This has got to be a prank!! If it's not a prank, then that is one genuine A hole cop!
  20. Yes, it's all become complicated and confusing with different decisions being made. But as you suggest, that Rapid Vienna v LASK match could be critical in deciding who ends up in that coveted 2nd position in the league table.
  21. Yes, LASK are now third in the Tipico Bundesliga table, but 3rd position gives you a place in the Europa League and not the Champions League, doesn't it? The good news is that LASK still have a chance of catching Rapid Vienna up for that 2nd spot, which guarantees a place in the Champions League second qualifying round.
  22. It looks like Salzburg's dominance in Austria continues. They have a sophisticated scouting set-up which helps them sign some of the best youngsters in world football.
  23. Yeah, it looks like their season has suddenly nosedived after having played some inspiring football earlier in the season, especially in the Europa League. It would indeed be a shame if they didn't even qualify for Europe, as that is the least they deserve after their gutsy performances earlier in the season.
  24. So Schalke have decided against taking advantage of their purchase option of buying Todibo for €25 million, because apparently they can't afford the fee. This is a bit of a shame from Schalke's perspective, as Todibo is one of the most highly rated young defenders around. The fact that Barcelona demanded €60 million buy back clause, had Schalke bought him, gives an indication as to how highly he is rated.
