  1. If we get him for that price then Steve Parish has played a blinder.

The mistake was putting The Fiend and Seth Rollins in a match against each other in the first place. A HIAC match is not the match to have when you want nobody to lose.

AEW had such a brilliant opportunity with ITV its borderline amusing how its played out. What should have been a PR masterstroke has turned in to a PR disaster.

A good first show from AEW. Nothing spectacular but something to build on. @Devil-Dick Willie will love seeing how Moxley "ddt'd" Omega on a glass table. WWE had all basis covered with there big surprise on NXT this evening. The first round has gone to them.

I think you're right. I think the owners have a mentality of "this business model works" but the emergence of AEW have moved the parameters a lot. Guys like Joey Janela for example would have done a successful stint in ROH before. I dont blame them at all. That PPV at MSG should have been huge for both companies but instead they were missing big names that would have given them much wider publicity. The emergence of AEW will no doubt have a positive knock on effect with WWE but the cut backs for ROH and Impact have already began.

I'm looking forward to it. AEW have done very well to get a deal with ITV and TNT. If they make an impact on ITV they could be more viable to a bigger audience in the UK than WWE on BT Sports from next year. The better AEW gets, the better NXT will get, and the better Raw and Smackdown will get to keep NXT perception as a third brand. NXTs pure existence is to combat any threat and that's evident by multiple decisions made over the years. NXT pay per views in 2019 have been better than the AEW pay per views, but comparing the main events the likes of Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley and Cody Rhodes are bigger house hold names than those on NXT. As already touched upon, WWE can combat this quite easily by moving established upper midcarders who people want to see main event (Andrade, McIntyre, Nakamura, Balor etc) back to NXT. It's a win win for everybody really. Most of the big concerns with WWE people had at the start of the year are being resolved, and with there poor track record of listening you have to imagine the existence of a well funded new company is the reason for that. On a side note I really do feel for ROH who have suffered because of all this already. They have always been great at creating new stars but it doesnt feel like that's happening with Matt Taven. You imagine they'll lose Marty Scrull by the end of the year too.
  9. More concerning is how Hoothroyd got the job in the first place given his style of football got him sacked from Northampton after they were bottom of league two.

Perry Saturn was given that gimmick as a punishment for legitimately attacking Mike Bell during a match. The irony is that Perry Saturn went from being on superstars to appearing on Raw and Smackdowm every week because of the good reaction he got with moppy. So in a way it worked out well.
  11. Theres a player in him. The player that joined us in January 2017 was ten times the player we saw in December 2017. It must have been utterly demoralising for him not to get picked when he was our only fit forward. I do wonder if he was the victim of a political power struggle between Roy and Dougie as Roy continually picked him out. Hopefully it will be one step backwards to move two step forwards as he genuinely seems like a really nice bloke.
  12. Just seen that rumour doing the rounds and I'd take that from a Palace perspective. Roy clearly doesn't rate Sorloth, and his confidence has been shot to pieces because of it to the point where I dont see him ever succeeding here. I'm not really sure how he would do at Brentford, from what people have said the blew hot and cold on loan at Genk.
  13. @Danny The rumour on Ollie Watkins has gone a little cold but Dougie Freedman has been a massive fan since he was at Exeter. Unfortunately with our current position, I dont think were in a position to invest on developing talent because our owners want to sell up. Which is frustrating as we have seen a wealth of talent emerge that would really buy in to our club ethos (Watkins, Eze, Maja etc).
  14. You have to admire Brentfords scouting policy. Take Ezri Konsa for example, picked up after a good season with Chatlton, hes had one good season with Brentford and they've made a big profit on him. What do they now do? Sign Ethan Pinnock from Barnsley, a player whose very similar to Konsa but had a better season at league one level. They've done something similar with Bentley and Raya too. I had them down for promotion last season under Dean Smith, obviously I didnt anticipate the manager would be off. I'm not sold on automatic promotion just because I'm not fully convinced by the manager, but the playoffs isnt an unrealistic ambition at the moment.

They're trying everything to get raitings up to be fair to them. The problem with wrestling is the fan base. You give them what they want. People moan after two months that its stale.
  16. The way people have gone about it I thought he grabbed her by the throat and raised her off the floor with blood coming out her eyes. Let's be honest, given the secluded bubble most people in government live in hes probably never been in a situation of conflict before. I very much doubt he would have received any training to deal with such a situation and for all we know she could have had anything on her. I dont expect any action to be taken here.

I completely agree. Before I agreed with the justification that theres only so much time on each show but they waste so much time on recaps of previous shows, previews to future shows and promoting Shane McMahon they must lose about a third of the show. The Raw after DoN was an absolute disgrace. The Revival have shown themselves to have great chemistry together, to be funny, and to work a good match against anybody. Theyre like a combination of a good Southern American throwback in the 80's yet keeping up with the modern advances in wrestling at the same time. ROH (and I expect AEW will) clocked on with NJPW that tag team and six man tag team matches are a great way in keeping a whole host of talent happy because they're performing. There is money in it as the right combinations can play off each other very well (Bullet Club, New Day, Young Bucks, LAX etc). Yet because its not "instant money" WWE continually discard it. Kofi Kingston is there popular Champion yet they still discard it. Its baffling when the roster is so bloated.

Good post. Everything I agree with. The only issue is that now WWE are trying to appease two major networks that are both going to want the likes of Brock and Roman on there shows. I know you cant appease everybody but the chase to make Smackdowns raitings rise ahead of this move to fox has ruined its initial appeal for the viewer. I agree about releasing certain unhappy superstars and PPV brand splits. I'm sure the likes of The Revival, Harper etc will get picked up by AEW but raitings aren't exactly going to soar because of it.

Having them show up in any company is good publicity. This way both tag teams keep their kudos in the company where there immediate loyalties lie. I imagine that will change for the Lucha Bros once the show on TNT starts as (especially Pentagon) they could be big characters in AEW. I've enjoyed Raw and Smackdown more in the last two weeks. Baron Corbin in particular is doing some of his best work and were seeing more of people. My main gripe at the minute is how much air time Shane McMahon is getting as hes ruining a lot of peoples momentum.

I wasnt really looking forward to it. I think after seeing what's happened with War Raiders, EC3, Sanity etc has affected my enthusiasm towards NXT. But you're right, it delivered. I didn't expect Cole or Baszler to win but they were both surprising in a good way. All the matches hit expectations. It was a real good advertisement for a brand that needs to be good with the birth of AEW.

Well it guarantees The Young Bucks will appear for AAA again and they'll lose to a team that will get a good reception. From a political stand point it makes sense. Im surprised they're not doing Moxley against Omega next given how well Moxley's debut has gone down. Over time I reckon he will get exposed in AEW so it may be best to milk him now whilst hes hot.

That was ridiculous. 53 minutes we waited for a match and it involved Shane McMahon.

I didn't mind The Young Bucks / Lucha Bros outcome to be honest. It sets up the match with Cody and Dustin for the next show nicely and I dont think Lucha Bros have signed an exclusive contract as of yet so giving them the win would have been rather risky. SCU were great though. With the talk of Gallows, Anderson, Revival and possibly even The Usos having an eye on the company when there contracts expire I was worried they may get pushed aside very quickly, but that performance shows that shouldn't happen. The tag team division is already quite bulky but they look capable of still holding their own. Cody Rhodes may not be the most technically gifted, but my word he is a great story teller. I quite like seeing a mix of styles throughout a card which is why I enjoyed him so much in Ring of Honor. I know they go on about being different but there is a time and a place to use WWEs story telling style and two thirds of the way in to the card was it. I dont think the show was as good as people are making it out to be on Twitter. Then again they could have had Kenny Omega wrestle a tree for three hours and people on Twitter would have been praising it. The production felt very similar to WWE and some of the commentary at times was actually very poor. However the majority of wrestling was good, some new characters to the mainstream market got some very good exposure (MJF, Best Friends etc) and they achieved their goal for the show. I will say that though thank god they signed a well known name in the Western Market in Jon Moxley. Before that I was feeling a little underwhelmed at the lack of surprises.

There was one dig at WWE but other than that it was fine. The dig itself was a bit too budget and came across as quite cringeworthy to me. The matches however were very good.

I agree with all of that to be fair. I think the Brock decision and the wildcard rule have come about because of the present raitings. However, they're suffering now because of the decision making process that's expanded for years. People aren't deciding to not watch Raw because Rollins is a bad champion, or because AJ Styles isn't interesting, or because Becky isn't doing well. Its years of part time Champions, years of people past their prime getting main event opportunities, years of glass ceilings being placed in front of popular talent. No matter how many times we are told change is coming we know they always revert back to the same rubbish. I guess though the network, sponsors, event organisers etc who pay WWE the big bucks dont see it like that. All there graphs will show that when Brock is there raitings are on the increase, as are when they bring back a fossil from the attitude era. It's this short termism approach I reckon that hinders the company in the long run. Fox for example will no doubt be delighted to have Brock Lesnar back. The only long term positive from MITB is the mental freedom they gave Ali, Andrade, Ricochet and McIntyre suggests to me that they are all rated highly. Oh, and the one thing that did annoy me at MITB. Them referring to the next Saudi show as good or bigger than Wrestle Mania. I mean come on What a way to piss on the last 35 years. You cant claim to be leading the way in a female sports evolution with statements like that. I do hope people refuse to stream Double or Nothing and pay the PPV price for it. They've got a chance to be on ITV long term in the UK which is mad. Better exposure than WWE now have with BT Sport (arguably bigger than Sky too as Sky never really pushed it). Theres a real chance to shock the industry here. WWE may make more money with their tours of Saudi Arabia but not having a grip in the major Western countries would really irritate them.
