Theres a couple of things they need to improve on but they seem to be self aware. No vignettes were a big criticism of mine which they've started doing, the womens divison being poor was another where they've now added Kris and Swole, camera angles being off queue is a BIG problem but I think that'll be rectified after the recent fake punch fiasco with The Dark Order. I think they're doing ok. They're going through the "they cant do anything right" phase at the minute. I saw people criticise Cody for responding to fans on Twitter as its "small time", I mean come on people. People just need to bare in mind they're learning. Theres a real lust and desire for wrestling fans to criticise everything. Even things that are happening after the show which nobody else are meant to be seen are being criticised. Sometimes people just need to take a step back and enjoy what's going right.

I think it's fair to say that we need this takeover to happen pretty quickly. This makes concerning reading.

It seems like WWE are putting weekly shows ahead of second rate PPVs after the way TLC went. I don't have a problem with it but I'd rather them go back to the old concept where Raw and Smackdown have there own individual PPVs every 2/3 months (raw get backlash, smackdown get judgement day etc) just to make the second rate PPVs feel more meaningful.

I've quite enjoyed the upper midcard zone of Raw since the draft. With The OC as the major heel, Rey as the focal point, and then having guys like Ricochet, Drew, Orton, Humberto etc fight around them. It's a damn lot better than the set up they had last year. We wont know officially for another 5-10 years but I'd like to find out the impact Paul Heyman is having on the direction of people like Street Profits, Viking Raiders, Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black. They've really become a focal point of the product every week. Imagine thinking that a year ago.

I've never got the obsession with Dave Meltzer's match ratings. Back in the day of dail up I understand why they were important but given theres so many varied ways of entertainment through wrestling in present society I don't get how they can compare everything any more to the point where one persons opinion holds so much weight. Especially given, they both (more so Alvarez) come across as anti-WWE and overly pro to AEW.

Caught up on Survivor Series week. I must say, despite my initial criticisms I feel that WWE have played out this invasion angle very well. When Rhea Ripley, Keith Lee, Tomasso Ciampa, Shayna Baszler and Adam Cole move to another brand they'll be ready to feud with Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan etc straight away because of it.

Referees/VAR in the Premier League
Dave replied to Happy Blue's topic in Premier League - English Football Forum
With the fine margins that managers are being sacked VAR is the way forward. It's unfortunately just being implemented poorly in this country. Why is the ref not allowed to go to the touch line? Why do the people reviewing the incidents not know the rules? Why is everything being reviewed and not clear and obvious errors? Once these get addressed it will be fine. It's worked well overseas and in the world cup. It can work well here. I'd suggest that over two thirds of the people that complain about VAR are the type of fans that moan about change. I was at the London Stadium when it took forever to review the Jordan Ayew goal, was I bothered? Nope because I knew they would come to the right decision. I was more annoyed after the Liverpool and Arsenal games when I saw decisions that hadn't been reviewed which really should have been. -

Referees/VAR in the Premier League
Dave replied to Happy Blue's topic in Premier League - English Football Forum
VAR is not the problem. All VAR has shown that the referees in this country are abysmal. Clear and Obvious has become an absolute farce because of these idiots controlling it. What I will say is that one good thing VAR has done is shown how stupid the offside rule is by having it by such a small margin. We want attacking football, we want goals, make the margain greater. -
I enjoyed it for what it is. Still cant get behind the womens divison, the bastard Pac is looking good, surprised Young Bucks took another L but was happy with the match, glad Scropio Skys getting a lot of attention, and I didn't mind the Cody/Jericho ending as its building to something. Cant believe people have moaned and complained about wanting The Attitude Era back and then thought Omega/Mox was too graphic. Wrestling fans are the worst part about wrestling.

Wout Weghorst would be completely alienated with the way we play any way and would struggle to score 8 or more goals. It's a complete non runner. Max Meyer, Jairo Riedewald and now unfortunately Victor Camarasa all look devoid of confidence and I do put that down to poor man management from Roy.

His comments about Jay Lethal just screamed jealousy to me. I don't know what planet hes on but I cant think of anybody's place he should have had in either Ring of Honor or NXT. I didn't watch the Saudi Arabia show for obvious reasons but hearing that Nattie and Lacey had a match is a good thing. They have to attempt to leave some sort of legacy and this is the way to do it. Even if the schedule screwed them over for Smackdown the following night. On a side note I seem to be the only person in the world who didn't like the nxt invasion. I know there hands were tied with the flight problem but having people like Daniel Bryan, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Sami Zayn and The Miz roll over to developmental talent just makes the main roster look weak. Theres nothing organic about it. But credit to the start AEW have had for making WWE think they have to bridge the gap between developmental and third brand in one night. On a side note if you haven't heard and you're bored type Joey Mercury on Twitter. Hes gone to town on some real disturbing issues with Ring Of Honor. As if people didn't need an excuse to not watch the product at the minute.

The only store there is that a global enterprise like Manchester United couldn't pay the whole fee upfront.

Bruce Pritchard and Conrad Thompsons podcast on the WWE network was my favourite to listen too in that sense. His episodes of Russo, AJ Styles and ECW were good to listen too. It helped that Conrad Thompson wasn't scared to criticise his views at any given opportunity.

Pretty a much a spot on description of Cornette. I disagree about him turning down the opportunity to go to AEW. He just strikes me as someone who would sell his morals quite quickly. Theres a guy I never heard of before I got back on Twitter called JDfromNY whose the only person I think I've blocked. Nobody needs to read so much negativity in there life. Yeah, I've enjoyed all there shows to be honest. Everybody's wanted to see show that can offer an alternative to WWE and has financial clout so let's just embrace it. Classic Jericho. Its sad to see him out of shape but still one of the best talkers in the game.

I nicked @Devil-Dick Willie's comment about Cody/Dustin match being a WWE match with blood and not worthy of 5 stars. The reaction reached a level of anger that Dustin was likeing the replies.

Jim Cornette is a gimp. Always has been. Even when he has a point he goes far OTT to be taken seriously. When he talks about AEW he comes across as bitter that he will never be considered serious enough to be a part of the project. It's the same with Vince Russo and all those other helmets that should be left in the 90s.
-
He does a lot for the charities in the area, like I imagine quite a lot of footballers do. We just don't hear about it because it doesn't sell stories.
-
You've nailed it really. If AEW try and go up against WWE with celebrities, lack of wrestling etc they will fail. Theres a reason RoH, NJPW, MLW, NWA and Impact were able to expand there brands in the US in 2018 without WWE assistance and that's because there is a demand for wrestling. I'm surprised Young Bucks have taken big losses already. You know if that was Triple H that would never be happening.

If we get him for that price then Steve Parish has played a blinder.

The mistake was putting The Fiend and Seth Rollins in a match against each other in the first place. A HIAC match is not the match to have when you want nobody to lose.
