It's not to fill a quota though and I agree with your point in terms of being well rounded, people think that equality in television or film is about ticking off the numbers. It's simply about creating the same chance for a female actress to be as successful as her male counterpart in whatever roles they get. They don't get the same opportunity at success critically or financially, so just through that alone you will see less well rounded characters as the people able to portray their stories aren't being written for or given work.

I get what you're saying but the leading roles available for women is really nothing in comparison to men. Is Dr. Who a man or is Dr. Who a role dominated by men? It's not as if they've changed the gender of the a consistent role, Dr. Who's entire body physically changes from one human to the next, in this case it's hardly out of the ordinary for him to come back as female if he can go from old to young etc considering women make up half the population. In terms of changing a male character, I don't think this is the same as say suddenly changing Luther or at a stretch James Bond. Dr Who is basically an alien.

That's not equality though is it? The acting world is dominated by men. If it was already balanced then you'd have a point, but what is the point in turning Dorothy into a man? Taking one of the very few female led roles to prove a point in an already male dominated industry is not equality. There maybe an internet pitchfork mob that like to point score, but gender equality is a great cause and if you can't see that there is very little gender equality in the acting industry then you need to do more research.

Doctor Who turned into a thousand pieces of dust and completely changed doctors several times but the "strange" thing is that the Dr's now a woman? Bloody hell.

We won't sign another Jota but we'd sign someone who can offer enough goals to fill the hole, or at least someone who could grow into that if there's someone at the club ready to replace him. When he's fit Hogan is a goal machine, feed him and he'll generally score. If we had Jota with 2-3 years on his contract he'd be worth £15m easy in the Championship. With just one year that number goes down, we've said it'll have to be a big deal for him to move and the Evening Standard are reporting we'd let him go for £8m. If he goes it'll be a shame as he is a ticket to the Premier League, but £8m is a lot of money to spend. That is our business plan so I've full confidence either way in the club.

But it's the difference between losing 1 player or losing 3-4 in the same window. We had no room to manoeuvre, the players made it clear they wanted to leave and the clubs they went to got them for a cut price due to their contract length. Us having our players on 4-5 year contracts is undoubtedly a positive and will allow us to keep players for longer and sell them for a higher fee. I'm saying he's the best in the league, he was when he was us before and then he was when he scored 12 goals in half a season. I never said he'd be as good, just that we will go out and buy someone who can make a similar impact. Jota would bring in a fair amount of money and our board know how to spend that.
