  1. It just seems that Liverpool FC's transfer policy is fairly blatant at this point, it's all well and good saying it's obvious that Bellingham was never going to move but the club wouldn't have made a move for him had there not have been reasonable grounds to suspect it may happen. The club have identified a position that needs filling and have tried and failed with two high profile targets...who else is there to sign? If Bellingham is a guarantee to sign next Summer will those alternative targets be a better acquisition than Bellingham? Does it make sense to sign a lesser target for immediate cover? Bellingham has 10+ years in him at this point to play at the highest level and then more. You either get all of that or you get half of it and a very big transfer fee. Who is it that you bring to the club instead this Summer? In the mean time you are able to change your formation, create more flexibility in the midfield. There is no reason why Nunez can't play up top as a number 9 with Firminho, Carvalho or Elliot playing behind him with Henderson/Fabinho behind that. I don't really see what the panic is, you have strength in depth and the personnel to change formations to cover for the loss of an incoming world class midfielder.
  2. It doesn't sound like you haven't learned from that season though, it sounds like you've tried to sign two separate high profile centre mids and missed out on them (one for the foreseeable, the other for this season). But transfer strategy's are hard and sometimes you have to wait 6 months - 12 months longer than you'd want for your target to come in, because the player you're signing needs to fit the bill for a 5-6 year period, not just the next 6 months.
  3. Can’t wait to get back into the BCS this season
  4. He needs to escape Chelsea before they consume him
  5. Just heard Martin Tyler's Hillsborough comments. It sounded like when listening back, that he was mentioning Hillsborough and hooliganism as two separate issues that caused a crisis in the game at the time, rather than suggesting hooliganism caused the Hillsborough tragedy.
  6. parlez vous English you mug
  7. What do you think is exaggerated?
  8. Are we just ignoring that he had a picture of a pack of wolves lined up on a screen with two Arsenal flags on them? Strange methods but fair play the Arsenal team clearly play for him
  9. But the reaction will still be the same, interview or not
  10. It’s the same concept in fairness. Referees are rarely congratulated for doing a good job but are completely vilified for doing it badly. Which I do get on an occasion as some performances can be terrible, but they are not protected by clubs at all so someone has to do it.
  11. We do this, so I imagine most clubs are too, but we'll have maybe two friendlies on the same day or two friendlies one day after another where the first team is split up and the rotation players make up the rest of the two eleven's plus subs. Klopp probably has his fittest eleven ready for the season opener and then will chuck the others into the friendly to get them up to scratch, or close to anyway
  12. Brentford Community Stadium will be now known as Gtech Community Stadium… Look it could be a lot worse but it could also be a lot better. Fans will still call it BCS/Lionel Road so yeah, money hey
  13. What is the point in having an academy these days...good from a financial perspective if you can sell players on for a big enough sum but that rarely happens and clubs rarely get to keep hold of these players because the bigger sides like Chelsea and City will come swooping with their 700 teams per age group
  14. Brilliant signing, was excellent for us and only really left because his contract ran down and we had to make a financial decision. Not a blood and guts midfielder so won't be as committed in the 50/50 challenges as some, but is brave on the ball and leads through how he tries to move the ball forward.
  15. In fairness you said similar about Bayern not being favourites for De Ligt and he’s joining now
  16. Right back or left back drops in to a back 3 if need be.
  17. 3 man midfield, Fernandes push forward and Eriksen drift to the left.
  18. Eriksen should be good alongside Martinez no?
  19. You’d think if anyone would get the best out of him it would be a high level coach who coaches good attacking football.
