    Is 250 a lot ?

    You mean 205.

How many ways you can score runs in baseball ? either by completing all the bases or hitting a home run but both ways will get you '1' run.

In Cricket, getting runs is similar.

After hitting the ball if you get to the other side of the pitch you will get one run its like getting from 1st base to 2nd in baseball.

Like homerun if you hit the ball over the boundary in cricket then you will get 'six' runs.

In baseball if the balls takes a bounce and crosses the boundary then the batter gets a free pass to the next base right ? In Cricket if the ball touches the ground and crosses the boundary then you get 'four' runs.

    That actually makes some sense.

Of course it does, we are not idiots who follow this sport xD

So, the inning is over IF 10 batters get out OR if 120 balls are bowled?

    Yes !

Now Scotland has to score 205 runs in 120 balls and we have to make sure that we get their ten batsmen out before they score 205 runs.

Yeah, sport still doesn't make sense to me.

I see this on the scoreboard - Pakistan 181/3 (18.2 ov) , does that mean they are winning 181 -3 ?xD

    204/4 (20 overs)

The left side of the slash '/' means the total runs a team scores and the right side means the batters that got out, so this means we scored 204 runs while we lost four batsmen, and if a team loses 10 batters then their innings is over like in baseball if three batters are out.

In baseball a pitcher keeps on pitching for the whole innings or match until he is replaced right ? Not in Cricket, after bowling six bowls the bowler must be replaced with another bowler. Those six balls are called an over. Bowler 'A' bowls six balls to complete an over now he can't bowl the next six balls/over, Bowler 'B' will come to bowl next six balls.

So 20 overs means that there will be total 120 balls bowled after which next teams innings will start

  4. Scotland stun England as Calum MacLeod hits 140 not out in Edinburgh

Scotland secured the biggest win in their cricketing history with a thrilling six-run defeat of England.

Callum MacLeod's brilliant 140 not out took the home side to 371-5 in glorious batting conditions in Edinburgh.

Jonny Bairstow's 54-ball century looked to have England on course until they slipped from 220-2 to 276-7.

Liam Plunkett (47 not out) and Moeen Ali (46) kept them in it, but last man Mark Wood was lbw to Safyaan Sharif from the fifth ball of the 49th over.

It is a wonderful result for Scotland, who have been improving steadily since the 2015 World Cup and were only denied a place in the 2019 tournament when rain stopped their match against West Indies in the qualifying tournament in March.

Here, against the number one ranked side in the world, the Scots gave the sort of performance that further questions the International Cricket Council's decision to cut the World Cup to only 10 teams.

For England, so impressive in limited-overs cricket in recent years, this first defeat by Scotland can be mentioned in the same breath as the Twenty20 humblings by the Netherlands, and World Cup losses to Ireland and Bangladesh.

They must regroup for the five-match series against Australia, which begins at The Oval on Wednesday, while Scotland move on to T20s against Pakistan on Tuesday and Wednesday.

  6. Speaking of American cricket team, they had the US team on the EA cricket 2007 and there was their opening fast medium bowler and the swing he had  every time i would go for an aggresive shot i edged it and gone to the keeper.

I could smash Bret lee and Mcgrath for six sixes but i always went with singles against him xD

I guess I'll need to pick me a country and start watching since us Americans don't seem to have a team or one good enough to really compete.

America had a team and it participated in some events but international cricket council shut it down as the governing body wasn't doing seroius effort for the game, a new governing body is set to take place in 2018 so the team might get back

So right now you'd have India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies, and Zimbabwe split into 2 groups?

Nope. All ten will play each other, round robin.

Is it too much to ask for a brief overview of Old Format vs New?

Older format had 14 teams with two groups of seven with top four going in the quater final from each group. Group stages didn't had much excitement because there were two useless games. It was like having Germany,Brazil, Spain and Luxembourg in a group and top three going through.

So they cut down to 10 teams, with all teams playing each other like in a league and top four going in the semis. Good entertainment wise but harsh on smaller teams that won't get much chance on world stage.

  10. Speaking of the World Cup, what's everyone's thought on the new world cup format ?

While its harsh on smaller teams and isn't good for the growth of the game either but i like the league format as its more competitive and gives more reasonable games to watch.

I highly doubt this format won't stay for longer either.

Is there a 'World Cup' of Cricket? If so, when is it?

I'm sure I can find it on tv, but it would probably need to be a major tournament for it to be on over here.

Yes ! inaugural tournament was in 1975. The next one is in 2019 during summer to be held in England & Wales.

Australia has most titles with five trophies to their name, others winners include India,West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka

  12. Some facts

    Cricket > Rugby :)

    Cricket > Rugby + Baseball + Basketball

and even football some types. This common stereotype that Cricket is boring to watch, i swear there are more boring football games nowadays then Cricket.

think you guys were so confident in the first test that got you through it.

surprised you batted first in this one!

Its our tradition, after going up we always mess up the series :coffee:

Indeed an odd decision that Sarfraz is still defending.

  15. England reaching 300+ without a single guy scoring 50 or more shows two flaws from both teams. England have thrown away good starts, some poor shot selection. Pakistan have failed to deliver the ball in the right areas to new batsmen

My lifestyle is sadly not suitable for pets, so I have to resist the urge of getting one all the time... However, I've been sort of taking care of a few strays in the last couple of years, they just used to come and go as they please. This one was my favourite:

    gfxScmR.jpg

She was absolutely terrified of people when I first met her (accidentally), but after a while I gained her trust and she used to come for food and water daily, and really enjoyed being petted. I was ready to actually take her in, she was so lovely... turned out she was not really a stray though, the owners were some local farmers and just didn't bother to take care of her. I offered to buy her off them, but they were having none of it, cunts. Then I had to move to a different place and never saw her again :61_sob: Still miss her.

    What did you named her
