  2. Arsenal strengthened their grip on 1st place with two massive derby wins, one of those being against arch rivals Spurs, and in doing so actually damaged their opponents chances of a top 4 finish. Although Villa couldn't capitalise on that fully, the gap does extend to 7 points, and they look likely to finish in the top 4 to secure a CL spot. Liverpool are all but out of the title race after dropping points against West Ham. Man Utd surprisingly dropped points against Burnley, which allowed Newcastle to close the gap on 6th place to just 1 point. Chelsea continue their march towards a European place after doing the double over Spurs and now they have another London derby to contend with...

The top 3 all have home games once again, but it seems like the Spurs vs Man City game is becoming ever more important to determine where the title may go...

Juve's is class but you just know they'll ruin it with a big fuck off sponsor. Roma is probably the best so far - Madrid's away is decent too. They're another club that very rarely get it wrong.

Arsenal have had an absolute shocker across the board, should be deducted points IMO.

Roma always smash their kits. They get it right so many times.

A lot of talk online about Ange and set pieces...it does make me wonder though if this discussion about him not practicing defending set pieces is similar to when Pep said he doesn't get his players to practice tackling, and the media had a field day with it.

Are defending set pieces a serious problem for Spurs consistently this season, or is it just that they've conceded a few in a short space of time and so it makes a good story?

Can't recall it being a drastic problem. Probably just picking up on the one thing he's mentioned that they've then gone on to concede, which as you say makes a story:

    image.png

14 goals conceded from set-pieces. Out of 54 goals conceded in total, so just over a quarter of their goals.

  7. Quote

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been given a suspended two-month ban by the Football Association after admitting breaches of betting rules.

The Italian, 23, will not serve the ban if he does not commit further breaches before the end of next season.

He is already serving a 10-month ban issued in October 2023 for offences during his time in Italy.

Fair play to Leicester, got nothing but good words to say. They have proved to be the most consistant and got over the line when it counted. Can't really remember them being out the Top 2 long at any point over the course of the season and if you end the season with 100pts, it definitely proves you're worthy winners.

I think in retrospect given how young and inexperienced our team are (2nd youngest squad in the league) it's shown at various times this season, especially in the games we've had lumps kicked out of us and teams have shithoused. We just haven't handled those niggly encounters too well.

And also down the home straight, the lack of experience in our team has been evident in that they haven't quite been able to handle the pressure and expectancy levels our club carries. Leicester's team carry a lot more experience and know how for me and thst stuff cannot be underated in the Championship.

The only thing that I find a little bit weird with Leicester has been the reaction of some of the players/club after promotion. I get the game is about a bit of fun and banter but it's come across that they feel a bit triggered by us, whether that was because we beat them twice or nearly pipped them to promotion, not sure.

I get some of our fanbase (more so your typical social media one's) can be absolute gobshites so fans having fun, no problem. But the actual players and club using the 'I predict a riot' against us, a song we play after every home game, seems odd behaviour.

Seen so many videos across social media mocking us in particular, even at Leicester's own players awards which feels odd behaviour, I just kinda feel in these moments, enjoy what you've achieved and don't worry about us.

Maybe it's a back handed compliment, not sure but feels a bit weird considering there hasn't really been much words swapped between the clubs over the course of the season.

That game at Elland Road seemed to be the big moment.

It reminded me of Arsenal's team selfie they took in their dressing room after they beat us in 2016, as if the title was won that day. And as if there was a bit of arrogance about it. Seen plenty of Leeds fans carry a lot of sour grapes because you beat us and Ipswich twice and using that as a stick to beat us with but ultimately it's not just those games that count.

Also you've not mentioned Rutter saying 'we are the best team' after that victory, but the job wasn't fully done. That is also instigating a lot of the response you've seen in the last few days - you can't say you're the best team and then not win the league, or not even get automatics. Obviously in the moment emotions run high but he/the team haven't backed up the 'best team' after that game.

Don't necessarily like the player's singing it at the awards night so agree with you on that. But against Preston it was valid given we'd just won the league. As the best team

As you say, some of the fans on social media have the loudest voices but not necessarily carry the whole view of the fanbase - some of the Leeds' fan reactions have been just as bad as our fans relishing in seeing the job off in the end.

This is our 4th season of Gaffr I believe, last weekend approaching.

    My previous finishes were...

    70th 20/21

    48th 21/22

    39th 22/23

Currently 47th. I think I'm gonna be hard pushed now to improve and beat 39th unless I make a couple of punts that work for me but it's been another enjoyable season of the game.

Given FPL will have less blanks next year meaning less DGW's, to make it interesting, they could have learned a thing or two from Gaffr and  introduced maybe two extra chips to play on a single matchday, like a Park the Bus, Triple Triple or Budget Buster.

Not sure the FPL community could handle such rapid change 😂

    Have also enjoyed it.

Not sure if it was Gaffr or another game - but a few seasons ago there was an EFL fantasy league one, where you had to have a certain amount of L1 & L2 players. Wouldn't mind if that came back too as it would stop the Championship dominance which at times can get a bit too predictable.

You and @The Palace Fan smashed this season right from the start. I messed up my start so was always playing catch-up, and mistimed some of my boosts/chips.

Pains me to say it, but Liverpool have had some brilliant home kits lately - that new one is absolutely gash.

Newcastle, BVB, PSG and Barcelona are the only decent ones. Inter is absolutely awful.

Majority are - I don't get the lines on the Liverpool shirt? Inter's is terrible.

Bayern's is alright. Hopefully better ones over the summer...
