Everton have been looking very shrewd so far this window. A plethora of young home-grown players are coming through the ranks, strong offerings in the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Kevin Mirallas already provide a strong backbone for the team. The way they're going the only way is up for them. I could see Everton in the Champions League in a few seasons time if they keep this up.

Apart from Sandro for £5m (approx), I wouldn't say they've been shrewd. Just been a bit more flexible and forthcoming with their money now.

Some rain potentially forecast. This one could be juicy.

thunderstorms apparently. Could get interesting with Hamilton needing to push to get to the top (they say Bottas won't hold the pack up but that's quite obviously bullshit. WOnder how it'll be if/when Hamilton gets up close to Vettel...

  3. turning out to be an interesting game between SA and England in the first test at Lords.

England started today 119-1 but have collapsed a little to 155-5 and now only lead by approximately 250. I'm sure Root would have wanted to be in a position to consolidate for a bit but also pick up runs at a fair rate before tea and declare to put SA in bat to chase a hard target. Looks like a different challenge now for England with the game in SA's hands. SA can't let England get away like they did in the first innings.

Everyone is now. Been like that since June 15th.

yep, all network providers offering for free but will most likely change if/when Brexit happens. Giving a bit of a sweetener for now and then hike the charges up later on...

Aston Villa have agreed to sell left-back Jordan Amavi to Spanish La Liga side Sevilla for an undisclosed fee.

Former France Under-21 international Amavi, 23, will join on a five-year deal if he passes a medical.

Amavi joined Villa from Nice in July 2015 and made 48 appearances in all competitions for the Birmingham club.

Having recovered from a serious knee injury, Amavi returned to Steve Bruce's side last season, helping Villa finish 13th in the Championship.

Crystal Palace have kicked up a stink around Selhurst Park this summer after using garlic to prepare their playing surface for the new Premier League season.

The Selhurst Park pitch has been having problems with microscopic parasites that weaken the roots within the turf.

Liquid garlic is a pungent but effective way of treating the problem.

"Think of your garlic at home and times that by 100," Palace head groundsman Bruce Elliott told cpfc.co.uk.

"We have a problem with nematodes, which are a microscopic, parasitic worm-like creatures that live within the root zone.

"When it gets in there it can distort the roots system and creates a weak plant that is susceptible to disease and wear and tear."

Palace's first pre-season friendly at Selhurst Park is on 5 August against German side Schalke.

Frank de Boer's side host Huddersfield on the opening day of the Premier League campaign on 12 August.

Hopefully, Palace will have more luck with this unusual method than Darlington did with their own novel approach in 1999.

The Quakers introduced 500lbs of worms to their flooded pitch to help irrigate it, only for them to drown.
