  1. The only issue I had was the lack of violence. Since when did they stop showing beheadings?

I absolutely loved the bit between Varys and Tyrion. Also, the bit between Tyrion and Cersie was powerful in its own way. Despite hating her, he showed that he cared for her and her child. And she saw that. That was top notch acting by those two siblings.

    So, Cleganebowl is on.

  2. Didn't know this. They both look uncomfortable in that video. It's like the Ganguly - Chappel video minus the pool table.

  3. Maybe you guys knew it, not the rest.

I knew there were groups, but revelations about Miandad and Sohail are new to me.

Also, something I forgot to add above. The senior-junior culture still exists in Pakistan. Something that Ganguly and John Wright dismantled long back for us.

Rabada injured and missing the rest of the IPL. Could be a doubt for the start of the World Cup, too...

Apparently a niggle, so the South African board rightly called him back as a precautionary measure. He should be available for the World Cup.

Kedar Jadhav on the other hand could be a doubt. He has picked up a shoulder injury and is out of the IPL and a doubt for the World Cup. I wonder who they take if he misses out - Pant or Rayadu.

On a side note Afridi's autobiography has put out some interesting bits on Waqar, Miandad, Sohail and Wasim.

His misogynistic views come as no surprise. The funniest bit around the book has to be this, though.

Just watched this with the wife, based on a true story with Michael L Jackson in the lead role, Lakeview Terrace quite enjoyed it and I would give it an 8/10.

  6. Somebody enjoyed Quicksilver and Flash in Marvel and DC movies, and tried to cash in by making this Sonic movie.

I love Jim Carrey, but this is why he doesn't get an Oscar even for amazing movies like ESFTSM or Truman show. People don't take him seriously.

    EDIT

Finally realised who this sonic reminds me off.

The kid from Jumanji. I mean, look he even has human teeth.

  7. @Fairy In Boots nah man, the darkness bit was a legitimate problem. I mean look at the Lord of the Rings. They had big night fight scenes with better visibility. The makers here had a huge budget and they kinda wasted that. I didn't know who was fighting who for long spells of the episode.

Agree on everything else. The episode was quality otherwise.

  8. Dark horses for me. Most of the players are in good form. If they click, then they can defeat any side. Shame Pollard didn't find a place.

  9. Watched The Way Way Back . It's a lovely coming of age flick. I thought it was awkward at start. Maybe it was the lead teen's acting, but it develops into a nice story and closes on a strong note, despite the somewhat cheesy slide bit in the end, which I understand was necessary. I also ended up enjoying the teen's acting as the movie went on. Sam Rockwell was brilliant and so is Steve Carell whom I have never seen in such a role. This one sits well with all good indie films out there.

Also watched John Wick and thought it was alright. I had heard so much about it everywhere and especially on this forum, but I thought it was strictly okay. It has good action scenes and the whole code thing was interesting, but the story was just meh. Maybe I shouldn't have looked at the story and taken this as a fun action flick, but my expectations were high.

    Fuck your workplace.

Did you say you wouldn't have anything against a Sophie Turner (consensual) sex scene? Sophie matured into a woman over the years whereas Maise, to many people, still looks barley a teenager.

Yep I gave Sansa's example and Arya still looks like a child. That and also stated that I, as an individual, can think differently. That's when mansplaning was dropped, and I moved away. It's pointless arguing with such idiots.

  11. I just got into a huge argument in office regarding Arya's sex scene. I was uncomfortable watching it. And according to one of my colleague it's a symptom of my mind that has been raised in patriarchy which finds women exercising their choice to have sex as unacceptable. I also got Maise Williams tweet showed to me as to how her parents and family are okay with it.

Apparently, the feelings of my independent mind, which doesn't depend on her family's feelings and which still sees her as a child, are invalid in this Tumblr world.

  12. Brilliant innings from him that day. Which makes the whole thing infuriating. But understandable. He will get smarter with age.

I'm actually a bit disappointed that Pant wasn't picked but I expect to see him more regularly after Dhoni retires. I don't really see the immature side but I do see the inexperience. From memory, Karthik isn't really lighting up things with the bat and hasn't really done too much in the IPL either.

I'd have picked Umesh instead of Kumar as opposed to Jadeja. I love Kumar but he's been off form recently partly through to injury so I actually think he could become a bit of a liability. Also surprised Ashwin wasn't picked either.

Excited to see players like Rahul, Shankar and Pandya perform. Reckon this is Dhawan's last tournament as well.

Tonight was yet another example of his immaturity. Needed 7 an over in an easy run chase with wickets in hands and he goes for the unnecessary big shot and gets out. Apart from two or three innings, he has been poor since the tour of Australia, not for the lack of talent as he has plenty of that, but terrible decision making. I know his natural game is attacking and he will learn to use it wisely with time and experience. He isn't ready now. Was also given the chance over Karthik in the home series against Australia and he wasted them all.

Karthik may not have been that great in the past few months, but overall he has been excellent since breaking into the ODI and T20 sides since that Nidahas trophy last year. Can bat in both defensive and attacking way depending on the situation. Also a way better keeper than Pant, in case Dhoni gets injured.

Ashwin never really regained his place in ODIs after that terrible Champions trophy showing against Pakistan. He and Jadeja were dropped after that. And that coincided with Chahal and Yadav's rise. Jadeja has done well to come back. But Ashwin is mostly a test player now for India.

Dhawan has been lucky. Has run into form, just when everyone was asking for KL Rahul to replace him in the starting eleven.

@Azeem I keep hearing about Amir's bad form. I haven't followed your side, but has it really nosedive this badly?

  14. Four squads declared so far, with England expected to name theirs tomorrow. Loads of talk around West Indian born Jofra Archer being selected for England.

I am also interested to see who West Indies pick. Quite a few of their players are currently lighting up the IPL and could still fail to be selected. However, if they are selected, then they could be one of the favourites.

Of the squads above, I am surprised to not see Ashton Turner in the Aussie squad. The boy is quite talented and was impressive against us in their one day series win. Richardson and Behrendorff are quality bowlers.

For us, there is a huge debate about Rishabh Pant not being picked. I agree with the selectors. He is talented but inconsistent and immature. Dinesh Karthik's experience is better and he is also a better keeper than Pant, though Dhoni will rightly have the gloves. A fairly strong squad, though I would have picked Yadav instead of Jadeja.

  15. Not really surprised or disappointed with the first episode. It was bound to be used to set up things, and I thought it did a good job. This season is like Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. It doesn't matter how good or bad they are, we are all emotionally tied to the series that we will enjoy every bit of it.

On a funny note, my wife introduced her mum to the series last year, and even watched most of the episodes with her. They made a pact to watch the new season together. She was going to stop over at her place this evening to watch the show. But my wife secretly tried to cheat during her office lunch break, only to find a check mark of watched on the episode in her streaming account. Mother in law has accepted her crime.

  16. Assange's trial could just be a massive show. Remember he is just the publisher and not the person who actually stole the so-called sensitive documents. The US has added the charge that he encouraged his source to steal more documents.

These are the same things which American journalists and media have done against Trump, especially in the whole Russia issue(and every other journalists do). And now they are cheering his arrest.

Assange also hasn't helped himself by being an unhygienic guest who even hacked his hosts.

Can't tell if the link is actually an error that's meant to link to a cricket highlight, or you getting a 404 error on a webpage was the best bit of action you experienced while watching a cricket match. Both are equally possible.

Edited it. The imgur link shows what I was speaking about.

  18. Best bit of action from yesterday's match.

Stokes falls down while bowling, Jadeja falls down while hitting the shot and still somehow ends up hitting a six and Dhoni's reaction in the end is the best.

  19. How to Train Your Dragon Hidden World is a disappointing end to one of my favourite franchises. It seems the makers had a basic idea of hidden world and a female nightfury, but nothing beyond it. I am surprised by the high RT ratings, though people could rightfully argue that the site has lost its credibility in recent times. Even the villain seems hollow and repeat of the second film's villain.

Also watched Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota (Man who feels no pain) and it feels like a Kickass meets Deadpool kinda film made by Edgar Wright. Funny and full of pop-culture references(mostly to Karate films of Chan, Lee, etc). Far from the usual Bollywood fare and a fun watch. I would recommend it if you like Kickass, Deadpool or Edgar Wright's films.
