Is that what it looks like now!?
-
Some of them will keep fighting it, but most of them will get there eventually. Got to have faith. We just saw Trump lose when a year ago it looked like he'd comfortably win a second term. In fact the majority opinion for quite some time has been comfortably in favour of people saying that Brexit was a mistake. It was narrow enough for the Tories to still win the last election but the gap has grown over this year.
-
Ultimately makes no difference. With or without him in Downing Street, Brexit is still going to be a shambles and when it's actually happened properly, the process of all the Leavers slowly admitting it was a bad idea will begin. There's no point in celebrating this news because the damage is done. My main take away is why did they move heaven and earth to protect him after Barnard Castle, inflicting huge damage on themselves and the whole Conservative party, for the sake of a few months? Maybe he's been carrying out some vital work, maybe he was there to fire and hire a bunch of big names in Whitehall, they've certainly done that, but it's not like he's had time to put some new philosophy in place, it looks more like he's just torn up what was there and fucked off. Or maybe it's just more evidence that this government is incapable of seeing the big picture beyond what's good for them today. Ironic if so after the big deal was made about bringing Cummings and all his super forecasters into the heart of government.

Name one team that you're actually scared of.

Salah will only miss one game ffs. In fact he might not miss any. Mane for some reason got to finish his isolation after 10 days or something and played in the derby after the last set of internationals. The bottom line is you have two long term injuries in Van Dijk and Gomez. That isn't many, and it's unfortunate that it's two in the same position but Liverpool still have much better strength in depth there than the rest of the league. Alexander-Arnold might miss 2-3 games. That isn't season altering. Liverpool don't have a small squad. You don't half make out you're down to the nuts and bolts just because you don't have 3 players for every position like Man City. Other clubs will get hit by the Covid issue as well. It just goes to show how stupid it was to put internationals back on this soon.
-
No but as others have said they're nowhere near as consistent as they were two years ago. They've already dropped points in 3-4 games this season. I'd have to check to be sure but they're probably not far off having dropped as many points this season as they did in their two title-winning seasons under Pep.

I honestly can't understand the stance that Liverpool are out of contention or even underdogs for the title even without Van Dijk and Gomez. If this was two years ago when City were actually good then I'd understand but there's absolutely no stand out team in the rest of the league. I still make them favourites, very comfortably.

Did Southgate do anything wrong? If Gomez had a niggle before he went away with England then Liverpool would surely have pulled him out, or left the decision in the player's hands. It isn't in Southgate's interests to risk an injured player either. I do think in general that it's completely ridiculous playing international football at the moment. I could sort of swallow it if they were only playing the compulsory fixtures but the way teams are squeezing in this third friendly game in the gap, which isn't even something they did pre-Covid, really is irresponsible. The shouts on Liverpool not winning the league are premature though. This doesn't help them in the slightest of course but it's not like anyone else is stepping up. Man City are already dropping even more points than last season when they finished 20 points behind and Chelsea, Spurs, Leicester are completely unproven in sustaining their form over the past 3-4 games for a full season, as we saw from Everton following the first 4 games.

Imagine if it comes out that it was after a collision with Pickford.

I came back to upvote your original comment because it was so true but I see that you've had second thoughts .

Breaking vaccine news! Pfizer developing the vaccine in question. Hopefully it's not too good to be true!

As long as Trump doesn't actually try to start a civil war or incite his most extreme, gun-toting worshippers to start shooting up Democrats then the next two months are going to be pretty fucking funny watching the meltdown.

I want to fully enjoy it but it still makes me angry seeing him at the same time.

I think if Biden builds his lead to over 0.5% in Pennsylvania then they'll call out because that's outside of reasonable recount territory. And that would then be the election. I don't know how much longer that will take because I've not paid as much attention over the last 24 hours. Fox and a couple of other sources still haven't un-called Arizona for Biden. Those sources are now in a position where the next time they call a state for Biden, they're calling the whole election because they have him on 264 already. What I'm finding bizarre about this election is the way the narrative hasn't shifted with the facts. Biden has definitely won, it's going to be comfortable both in the electoral college and the popular vote. People are talking about it as if it's a disappointing performance from him. This is the same margin Trump won by in 2016 in the electoral college and he's over 4 million actual votes ahead instead of 3 million behind like Trump, and that was perceived as some massive triumph. I get it was called early in 2016 but if this election was held in a normal year and the votes had been counted in a regular order then it would have been pretty clear from Election Day itself on that Biden was going to win. I'm no expert, I don't really know when it gets called but looking at it logically, I don't really know what they're waiting for. Maybe in other years with Presidents who actually have a sliver of decency, he'd have made the "I've phoned Joe Biden to congratulate him on his victory" speech by now and that sparks the networks into calling these states. I get that they're reluctant but everyone knows it's over, it's ridiculous if they get deep into the weekend without confirming the result.
-
They've basically counted all of the votes now. I don't know when the recount starts but it has been triggered automatically so it won't get called for some time.
-
I'm hoping that the final tallies for the popular vote, when third party/spoiled votes are taken out, that Biden's winning margin is 52/48, so that the curse of the 52/48 ratio can be lifted.

Turn it all BLUE .

Biden has finally crept in front in Georgia.

If Trump is still deluding himself that the Supreme Courts can keep him in office for another 4 years after all of their attempts so far to take legal action have been thrown out, then I don't know why he set fire to any remaining credibility there was remaining to him or anything he says with that statement last night. I've come to the conclusion that the reason I found that incredibly dangerous press conference so funny is that the penny finally dropped and I finally believed that he's a goner.
-
I just don't have any words for what I've just witnessed.
-
67 million people voted for that.
-
Is anyone else watching this statement? I don't know why but I'm in stitches here.
-
This has absolutely killed me .

If that's your stance then fair enough but wanting people to win based on it annoying other people rather than how it might impact on millions of peoples' lives regardless of where they are geographically doesn't sit well with me. This combined with the rejection of nuance, most commonly "who cares, all politicians are liars anyway", are two of the things which pave the way to success for populist movements too. I get the disinterest but I can't agree with wanting Trump to win just to wind people up. I've described earlier in the thread my first-hand experience of how having a charlatan like him holding such a reputable office has a ripple effect even in classrooms in England and the Isle of Man.

It's going to be close but a while ago they said he needed 68-70% and he's been achieving more than that on the mail in ballots, which is why he now needs more like 64% of what's left.
