  1. There was no point in trying again because Verstappen is impossible to overtake because Norris could be 100m ahead going into the braking zone and Max will just launch his car at the apex, force them both off and the stewards will go derp that's a 15 second penalty for Norris. What Norris should have done was illegally overtaken Max off the track much earlier, taken the penalty and given himself more laps to build a 5 second gap and keep the position because this is what's rewarded in F1 by another flawed rule. McLaren was not "clearly faster" than Red Bull either this weekend. It's not a fumble. Norris wasn't perfect in that battle. Everything else Max did was good racing but it's objectively ridiculous that you can brake so late that you don't make the corner and force off a competitor and then it's on them to return the position. There's absolutely no skill in what Verstappen did in that moment and about half a dozen drivers got penalties for less throughout the sprint and race. As an F1 fan I just want to see good racing and I knew as soon as Norris was clearly going to catch Verstappen that Max was going to do something to make it not a clean battle and lo and behold he did. This isn't coming from a Norris fan boy or a Verstappen hater either. Yes I would prefer a close title battle and for Norris to sneak it but I said the same about Verstappen's driving back in 2021 when I wanted him to win it over Hamilton.
  2. Also see Lap 1 where Max and Sainz go off the track together because Sainz braked too late. Max returned to the track and stayed ahead so why isn't it a 5 second penalty? It's a shame because it was a clinic in defensive driving from him but he always has to ruin it by not admitting defeat. He did this to Hamilton about 4 times in 2 races when they were competing for the title. Turned the entire Saudi GP into a farce that year and charged about 20 metres off the track trying to keep Hamilton behind in Brazil if I remember correctly. They should have dealt with him then. For the way he pushes the boundaries I'd love to see how long ago he was last hit with a penalty and how many penalty points he has.
  3. Norris gets a 5 second penalty for getting charged off the track by Max . He literally can't come out the wrong side of a stewards decision. I think that's outrageous. Apparently you can get overtaken on the straight, brake however late it takes to force both you and your rival off track, and you either get given the position back or your rival gets a 5 second penalty for not giving it back. They need to sort this out.
  4. I know lap one turn one is treated differently but Russell has just got a penalty for doing what Max did on lap one except Max's was worse because he didn't even keep his car fully on track. Drivers do that all the time when they overtake ffs. Make your minds up whether it's allowed or not.
  5. Am I the only one looking at that and thinking Max dive bombs Norris from behind and forces him off the track? He's the king of just about getting away with things. Same with how he's stayed ahead of Sainz without question despite taking an off-track detour to Mexico and back. Ferrari's look quick. Mercedes looks horrific. 3 years and they still can't get a handle on the behaviour of their car.
  6. Chelsea look a lot better under Maresca but also didn't look like they were scoring another goal there from any patterns of play. Liverpool are just way more accomplished at knowing what to do with the ball when they get into their opponent's half. Decent game overall.
  7. Feels like Chelsea's game plan is to try and exploit the full backs which isn't really working as Alexander-Arnold has had a good game defensively. Palmer hasn't exactly done well going to look for the ball though.
  8. That is awful goalkeeping from Sanchez there. Jones takes a really poor touch and gets away with it. Chelsea's goal was too easy from Liverpool's perspective and then it's amateur from Chelsea not to see through the next 5 minutes.
  9. There's joy for Madueke against Robertson but Sancho looks a player whose confidence isn't quite there for a game like this.
  10. Chelsea were looking decent just before Liverpool scored but they're lucky to still be in this now. So many gaps for Liverpool on the break and Chelsea have lost control of the midfield.
  11. (I meant to quote the part about the yellow card and missed )
  12. He's right about this part though. When attackers wave a leg unnaturally to try to initiate contact and buy a foul, it's objectively as much cheating and attempting to deceive the officials as diving. Unfortunately it never gets them booked though. So yeah it would have been inconsistent for Salah to be booked this time but generally speaking they should be in my opinion.
  13. Gut punch for Wolves but there's no way that should have been disallowed on Bernardo's behalf.
  14. A decent manager and I'd feel better about Leicester. Under Cooper I don't think you'll ever play at a level that gets you out of the bottom five. You should be well clear of Ipswich and Southampton anyway so then you only have to beat one other team and you've got an 8 point headstart on Wolves now unless they get something against City today.
  15. Great first lap from Norris gets him pole. Verstappen would probably have had him on the second run but Russell brings out a red flag. Hopefully Mclaren have better race pace tomorrow. Norris starting on pole ahead of three slightly faster cars behind him should make for a great race.
  16. I don't know. I think the usual top six plus Newcastle, Villa and Brighton will comfortably take the top 9 spots. Fulham will be 10th/11th along with West Ham depending on how hilariously bad their latest post-Moyes era continues to go. After that the bottom 9 times are much of a muchness with Southampton and Ipswich looking quite comfortably the weakest. I'd still be surprised if Leicester finished ahead of more than half of Brentford, Forest, Everton, Wolves, Palace and Bournemouth even if they do manage to stay up.
  17. That doesn't bode well for Mclaren's chances in the main race. Will struggle to beat Max or the Ferraris I think.
  18. Would rather have seen Leicester lose or draw from a selfish perspective. That's an absolutely disastrous couple of hours for Ipswich and Southampton. I think Leicester are quite fluky to be on 9 points and that they'll get reeled back in eventually but if they keep finding ways to pick up points it's going to be nervy times for Wolves and Palace and any of the other bottom half teams that go on a shitty run. I wouldn't rule out Bournemouth slipping into a bit of trouble either. 8 points so far and 3 of them were gifted to them by us after we had them quite comfortably beat.
  19. Oh wow. Leicester win it in the 98th minute from 2-0 down. Hammer blow for Southampton!
  20. Rushed this. Terrible bet. Brentford heading into injury time on 7 shots and the Belgian match finishes with just 5 corners.
  21. Wolves are here to help. Everton still will be as well if we manage to lose 3-2 again.
  22. I was expecting a lot more from Ipswich here. Hopefully in the second half we can complete the behemoth task of winning from 2-0 up.
