  1. Well seeing as it doesn't justify a response and you couldn't help yourself, I'd say it counts. I agree it's no "99.7 isn't close to 100" though.

  3. Yeah it's sickening how some long time rebels on the back benches are praising these two for their bravery and leadership. Get fucked. They propped this cunt up through Brexit, Covid chaos, Owen Patterson, Partygate, breaking the law, lying to parliament and all of the forgotten smaller scandals that any normal person would have resigned over in between. They are terrible. Javid in particular for going back into government having resigned once in the past under Boris Johnson. The only thing that's changed right now is their perception of the calculus around their careers and electoral interests. Cunts. Need a good decade in opposition, preferably longer, before any of them should be trusted again.

Norrie wins and makes the semi finals, very well done.

Goffin and Norrie going to the wire. Thought Goffin was on track to take it in four but Norrie has been really gutsy to stay in it and is playing his best tennis toward the end of the decider.
  6. Sunak and Javid resign from cabinet. It's over for Johnson.
  7. It isn't time for talk of rejoining but public sentiment is shifting against Brexit. Starmer keeps making these "set piece" announcements that amount to very little. He's obviously miles better than Johnson but it's disappointing that he still feels unable to take the opportunity of the government's weakness and unpopularity to actually try and convince people of something, I don't know when he will.
  8. Duncan Ferguson has left the club to pursue a managerial career.

Cam Norrie keeps the British interest alive. His first run to a Grand Slam QF, well done to him.
  11. The reason Pep has never managed clubs like Mainz and Dortmund or their Spanish equivalents or whatever is because he got given a chance at Barcelona and proved with no experience that he was already one of the best managers in the world. There's as much evidence to suggest that Klopp could do what Pep does as there is to suggest that Pep could do what Klopp does. They've had different careers and have different strengths. People are happy to point at Pep and ask why doesn't he do something more challenging to prove himself but they'll never apply it to their own club. Why doesn't Van Dijk go back to the Netherlands and try to win the Champions League with Ajax? Why doesn't Alexander-Arnold go and play for Tranmere and see if he can help them get to the Premier League? Didn't think so. The reason is that these elite sportspeople care more about winning and competing at the top level than they do about "proving themselves" to Internet keyboard warriors. Imagine that! Currently, in the Premier League, Klopp is punching above his weight more than Pep. That's as far as it goes really. It's not like Pep could be doing loads more. What is it 4 out of 5 titles now? The underperformance in Europe is a valid criticism but it also isn't the be all and end all of the job. Can we park the "the debate shouldn't even exist" shouts as well? It doesn't make you sound convincing, it just comes off as a desperate attempt to discredit dissenting opinions so that your world view doesn’t have to be contested. If you're that sure of the superiority of your arguments then put them across and let people decide to agree with you.

Didn't watch this match. Heard snippets about it. Some might find it entertaining but Kyrgios to me is 10% punchy, entertaining showman and 90% petulant and entitled bellend. I don't care whether you're a sportsperson in MMA or Dressage, a cunt is a cunt. That said, Tsitsipas is a pretty big bellwhiff as well.
  13. Came here to post this myself. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so terrifying.
  14. He had to step down from the same or a similar job in 2017 apparently because there was some sort of complaint lodged against him and yet "Boris" appoints him as Deputy Chief Whip again. This is nothing new though. Never forget that after Gavin Williamson was sacked from Theresa May's cabinet for leaks while he was *Defence Secretary* and was then appointed as Education Secretary by Bozo and oversaw the Covid exams disaster, the Covid school closure disaster and ended up with a knighthood for what is clearly an impeccable record of service to the country in government. As always, you can just imagine the reaction to all of these stories and how much more severe the narrative would be if all of these scandals were played out by a Labour Party in government. Literally imagine if it emerged that Jeremy Corbyn or Keir Starmer tried to bag their 24 years younger mistress a six-figure salaried job which is paid out of the public purse while they were using their parliamentary office to carry on their affair while their wife was undergoing chemotherapy for cervical cancer. I actually think peoples' personal lives and the impact it has on their job in politics are overblown but the double standards are astounding.
  15. What the actual fuck is wrong with this lot? Less than a week after there was a double by-election for a Tory MP who resigned because he was a sex offender and another Tory MP who resigned after watching pornography on his phone in the workplace. Comes along with the story that Johnson tried to get Carrie a job on a six-figure salary in the Foreign Office when he was Foreign Secretary having an affair with her while his wife at the time had cancer, and it only got blocked because their affair came to light after another MP walked in on her noshing him off in his parliamentary office. I know I don't half go on in this thread but that's how much it takes just to keep up with the scandals.
  16. Happy day to Tosun, Sigurdsson and Delph.

Raducanu broke loads of records in that US Open win coming all the way through qualifying and the entire tournament without dropping a set, if I remember correctly. 18 years old, still in school, it's a highly marketable story. Locally, she's also the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years. It's a pretty big deal for a country that gets pretty dewey-eyed over their sport, especially tennis.

I don't appreciate his style of play but that was a near perfect performance of Isner within the bounds of what he has in his locker. Shame for Murray. People will say he's past it because he's lost in the second round but he basically wasn't playing for half of that match because of Isner's serve. Banana skins like this when you haven't played yourself into form are the danger when you're unseeded. Which is annoying because if he was able to play a near-full schedule he'd probably have crept into the seedings here. We won't see Murray winning more slams but he's still capable of a pretty solid top 10ish level of performance on a good day which is pretty impressive given the whole metal hip thing.

Murray launching a comeback from two sets down against John Isner. Wins the third on a tie break. Long way to go...
  20. Kick off. It turns out Nelson Piquet used a racial slur while talking about Lewis Hamilton's collision with Verstappen at Silverstone on a podcast a few months ago. It has just come to light.

Things are easing off vaccine-wise. I have no problem with them letting people play regardless of vaccination status at this point. With Australia it was very political because it came so soon after there were still very strict restrictions in place on their residents and nationals. I expect they'll drop the requirement for the next Australian Open. The Russian/Belarusian thing is a lot more contentious. I think it was a knee jerk reaction at the time and if they were deciding now, they might dial it back and just ask them to play without the Russian flag next to their name. The ATP retaliated by deciding that Wimbledon won't count toward the rankings for the next 12 months. Definitely not all sunshine and roses at the moment. Anyway, Murray en route to take a 2-1 set lead over Duckworth after losing the first.
