  1. I don't know about the US but any school in the UK that doesn't have this is an automatic "Inadequate" from an Ofsted inspection and effectively shut down until it is resolved.
  2. This attitude is a problem though. The idea that Labour are no better. They are. Even Theresa May and David Cameron were better. Not many politicians make it anywhere near the highest offices in the land without having some skeletons in their closet, I agree, but Boris Johnson truly is on another level and that needs to be acknowledged and accepted. Personally if I hear anyone saying stuff about all politicians being crooks or all as bad as each other I try to challenge it, because there have always been red lines which you'd know as a member of the public would be resignation issues and it provided some semblance of accountability to those in charge but Johnson and this government have just pissed all over them.
  3. I can't commit to fully believing so but I try to comfort myself with the likelihood that Johnson leading them into the next election will see them finally booted out of power which the country sorely, sorely needs. In terms of replacements, I think after Johnson and his allies skewered Sunak to protect him from a leadership challenge that there isn't really anyone around who can make much of a difference to their polling before the next election. Sunak was the one I thought had the popularity and smarts to take over, create a new message and go into the next campaign with a relatively clean slate in the eyes of the public, at least enough to win another majority. Not anymore though. I'm still sickened that we have to call Johnson the leader of our country but Stan's point is probably correct. He's doing as much if not more damage to his own party and if the price of Labour forming the next government is to put up with Johnson's regime for the rest of this term, then given that we've survived more than half of it, maybe it's something we can make peace with. There are so many people who need it sooner though with what's going on with the economy. Even now they're planning the timing of their next package to help with the cost of living crisis around the latest partygate revelations to maximise their political capital from it. Truly disgusting. I've spent much of the past two years trying to grow up a bit and convince myself there are plenty of decent Tories in Parliament even if I don't agree with their politics but when over 85% of them clearly support this government far enough not to send in a letter of no confidence then it makes it difficult.
  4. Send the letter of no confidence in then you spineless cunts. It takes 15% of them to send in letters of no confidence to trigger a vote and a subsequent leadership challenge. That hasn't happened yet so clearly over 85% of Tory MPs think it's more important for them to either continue to hitch themselves to Johnson's wagon or wait until the "right moment" to remove him but if that hasn't happened yet then I don't know when it will. The fact that he's still there even before the latest revelations are hard evidence that what's right and wrong simply doesn't come into the calculation for 85%+ of the Tories. Personally I think that's reprehensible yet it's far from nailed on they won't win the next election so clearly I don't speak for everyone.
  5. I've just flicked from the UK Politics thread to this one using the next unread topic button. I think that's the biggest dose of complete right-wing shite I've been exposed to for a long time and that's coming from someone who frequently sees Daily Mail front pages shared on his Twitter feed. The trans debate is such an unbelievably fringe issue that 99% outside of people screaming (on both sides) on social media don't even know what it is, much less decide which they're going to vote based on it.
  6. While I also have reservations about Ten Hag being a success in the short or long term, there's definitely enough in parts of their existing squad to get more quality out of if they can surround them with the right players.
  7. Apparently the Met have seen this as well and decided this wasn't worthy of a fine. Absolutely disgraceful if that's true. Look at the collection of booze on that table at a time when only two people were allowed to meet indoors. It's saying a lot that the Tories reckon their best play throughout this whole scandal (about 6 or 7 months now isn't it?) is to stick by this clearly politically untenable buffoon. The next election really should be an open goal for Labour and the other opposing parties. They better not fuck it up.
  8. The Met genuinely needs to be fully disbanded and rebuilt from scratch on this evidence as well. Can't blame it all on Cressida Dick anymore.
  9. I'm so sick of this cunt and his party that won't get rid of him. What the fuck are they clinging on for anyway? This government literally hasn't done anything since they won their majority aside from scandals and u-turns. Being in power is enough for them and they've realised that their best option at this point is hope people have forgotten how shite they are before the next election and the incessant smear campaign their mates in the media deploy against Labour is enough to allow them to cling on for another term. Not a single member of that party has a genuine vision for the country anymore.
  10. @Mel81x enters the Hall of Fame for the second time, winning the concluding round of the season just like he did last year. @Bluewolf enters the Hall of Fame as League Champion for the first time, just one point short of the all-time record for points in a season. This comes in addition to his two previous Round victories.
  11. That's it for the season, folks! Thanks to everyone for taking part once again, it's a bumper table this season with so many people taking part in at least one round - a total of 27 entrants! It's also worth noting that we only had time for five rounds this season and didn't need to dabble in Portugal or the Netherlands like we have in the past, reflecting the much higher standard of picking and the longer runs our round winners were able to put together. As for the title battle itself, it was neck and neck between @Bluewolf and @Michael but it's the Chelsea fan's consistency that wins out. @Michael narrowly beat @Bluewolf in the English, German and Spanish rounds and they cancelled each other out in the decider in France, but his non-score in Italy (Atalanta 1-4 Roma in Gameweek One) in a round that his title rival won ultimately sees him miss out by one point! Honourable mentions as well to @Storts who completes the top three and @Rucksackfranzose who bagged the biggest points haul of the season of 12 in La Liga.

Is it bad? I've only looked at it on my phone.
  13. Not sure if this is the right thread to say so but I'm already pretty fed up of hearing about Elon Musk and his political/culture war hot takes.
  14. I don't know much about the intricacies of Israel and Palestine's dispute but I do know that support for Palestine is for some reason deemed to be a "left wing" thing in the UK and some sort of taboo.
  15. You can keep your hands off Richarlison. Gordon has a lot of potential but currently too raw to be thinking about a step up. Godfrey is a fantastic athlete but we've let him down in terms of development over the past couple of seasons he's been here through playing him in all three positions across the back line to cover our terrible recruitment in the full back areas, plus a series of managerial changes. He's also had a couple of injuries and was dogged by Long Covid earlier this season. Still a lot of potential though. Tielemans is a quality player. The Leicester lads might no more but I think he'd be looking for a Champions League club for his next move so might depend for Spurs on whether they sneak into the top four.
  16. Almost the first line in the article says that the 22 out of 35 first team players figure hasn't actually ever been proven.
  17. Went to the cinema last night with a few mates from work for the first time in ages. Watched the new Doctor Strange film. I thought it was a lot better than a lot of the post-Avengers Marvel offerings. Almost a different genre in a lot of ways but I enjoyed it for what it was. Certainly the biggest acid trip of a film I've seen for a long time. 7/10.
  18. You post on here instead of using Snapchat and TikTok. You've already become the thing you swore to destroy (as it were).
  19. I wasn't trying to compare Spurs and Everton, that was just a side comment. This Spurs team is nowhere near ready to properly compete with City and Liverpool, and that's the standard needed if they want to win silverware. Admittedly, Conte is a good manager for getting them into the top 4 let's say two times out of three for as long as he stays, and just maybe nicking a domestic trophy. I just don't think he will stay that long and don't see him taking them any further than that like Pochettino did. He reminds me a bit of what Ancelotti probably would have ended up being with Everton if he'd stayed. Get near enough the best possible results out of the team while he's there but when he leaves, you're probably no better off overall than you were when he came. You need that type of manager who develops a club and the tactical approach that Cicero described is important too. Potter might not quite be there yet but there's an argument that he's in the right mould and could be worth gambling on if Conte was to leave and there wasn't an obvious alternative.
  20. You say this like it's a bad thing! I'd have loved us to go for Potter instead of Rafa last summer. His Brighton teams are inconsistent but perform at least at the level they're expected to over a longer period of time. That style of play is the way to go as well. Conte might make Spurs feel good because he's got a top class track record and they want to be a top class club. Potter doesn't have that record but nor did Poch when he came to Spurs and he's the best manager they've had in my lifetime. Not saying out and out that Potter is the next Poch but there's a lot of merit in it. I can't see Conte really progressing Spurs over a number of years even if he'll probably get pretty good results out of this team for the time that he's there. He's not the type of manager who can repeat what Poch did in applying the finishing touches to a serious team that isn't quite ready-made.
