Or bring Bertrand back for a third of the money you want to waste on Sandro. It's that simple.
-
Well my opinion is, spend the money on a guy who scores 20-25 a season. That improves you where it most counts. Everyone should have been educated by Juventus spending the Pogba money. Frankly, Ryan Bertrand's transfer is going to cost us 100M if Sandro turns up. How the hell is that a good thing?
-
Sandro improving us is a matter of opinion. I would much rather spend the money on someone who puts the ball in the net. 100M on 3 left backs when we had a YOUNGSTER who started in the CL final who was let go by Jose. I ask you again, how is that good news?
-
Profit not a good thing anymore? Either way, attracting, who some have said the best youngster to come through Ajax ranks for the last decade, has to be a good thing in anyone's eyes. Hey you were jumping up n down about signing Alex Sandro. 60M for a left back\left wing back is a good thing? Kakuta was ok till he broke his Ankle ~ Never the same again.
-
Ok, so after losing young Solanke to Liverpool, a little good news that we have done the same to Ajax. Chelsea have beaten Manchester United, Manchester City and RB Leipzig to the signing of Ajax's 16-year-old wonderkid Daishawn Redan. Considering young Redan was supposed to be joining City and then United, I am somewhat surprised to read just now he is on his way to Cobham. I look forward to watching him on Chelsea TV. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-see-manchester-united-battle-10667105

Great question, one that takes some answering as there are many pieces of info to take note to find a fair answer. I know you are a big fan of Christensen. As you know I am not convinced, but if we are re-calling him from his loan & telling him he will be involved in the squad this season, then we must deduce from that someone at the club is prepared to nail their balls to his talent. For me Zouma is proven in a four in the Premier League. I accept he did not look as comfortable in a 3, but he was fresh back from a awful injury and I would have thought with a good strong pre-season under his belt he performs more to the level before the injury. However, plenty of media smoke stating the club are open to him going out on Loan, which again, gives more fuel to someone nailing their nuts on Christensen. There is no doubt a natural left footer on the left of the 3 is desirable. Almost all Premier league clubs are in need of a left footer or someone who can play that side with ease which is why the Dutch feller down at Southampton is so pricey. I have to admit I am not a fan of van Dijk. I saw a fair amount of him at Celtic where he went to ground far too often for me. Although I havent seen him as much at Southampton I have been told by a St. Mary's season ticket holder that he still goes to ground and tends to ball watch when marking. As I said, its his ability to play left side which makes him so popular. I have been told Leonardo Bonucci was on a list of 8 players the manager handed to Marina Granovskaia in April. The player knows of Conte's interest and while he hasnt said no to our manager, if you take what the media in Italy say as gospel, both the player and his club are unlikely to play ball with Chelsea. Like Virgil van Dijk, Kalidou Koulibaly is a right footed player who plays left side in a 3. When his name first came up as a possible for us during the winter window I started to take in the Napoli games on BT Sport. First impression was he was safe with his left foot, but like Gary, he would always favour his right when he could. Then the price became silly and signing a new contract with a even higher price on his head ruled him out for me. Plus, being African he would fall into missing games with the ACN every other year. Not for me. Of late we have been linked with Jerome Boateng. I find it difficult to believe Bayern would sell him. Much the same with Lewandowski, but that's a different story. I agree all 3 of our main 3 at the back have weaknesses. Dave was first exploited by Stoke at home which was copied quickly by Spurs and others. While Luiz benefited from have two rock solid holding midfielders infront of him, he also showed a far better maturity both with and without the ball. His destroying of Gary Neville in a interview after the final game of the league season was one of the highlights of the season for me. It would be nice to find someone to share that middle of the 3 position with him as I am sure we wont be as lucky with injuries. Gary has his faults, but I wouldnt swap him for any other CH playing in the PL. Again, someone to share the position would be great and also release Gary to play his more natural side, which in-turn would release Dave to pressure Moses at RWB. Just a quick word about two of our youngsters. Jake Clarke-Salter and Fikayo Tomori, both fresh from lifting the under 20 world cup. Both these kids will end up on loan somewhere and in the latter case, I expect him to be a shoe-in somewhere for the whole season. With Kalas & Omeruo being touted as being another 2 of our young players to be sold this window, it would mean the pathway to the first team has been opened for these two. Matt Miazga from what I have seen so far looks a million miles from being PL ready, but I would agree with Neil Barnett, there is something about Miazga to work on. Michael Hector is an interesting one. I have no doubt Steve Clarke was big in tipping him\ getting him to Chelsea. I cant say I have seen that much of the boy, but I am told by people who have seen him who say he is fine on the ball, but struggles a little with the physical side of English football, plus a hot headed attitude often gets him in trouble. Like Miazga, someone at Chelsea must see Hector as a possible. We shall see. While I agree with you that there needs to be a couple of new faces I have to say I am confident the club will find those faces, they just might not be the ones we have already heard about. That didnt hurt us last season, but of those original 8 on Conte's list, I for one would love to know how many of them line up in Chelsea Blue next season? Anyway, far too much opinion from me..... We will see what happens.

I do agree on Bertrand. I felt he had plenty about him and from the games I saw of him last season for Ajax he was progressing nicely. Like you I feel 16 is light and hope there is something like a buy back clause involved. This is far more of a disappointment than Solanke
-
I agree, but if we are to take the story of Chelsea selling Lukaku to Everton as gospel, when the price seem low for youngsters, it means there is a huge sell on clause in Chelsea's favour. We shall see
-
And now the Lyon President is talking up an agreed but for the fine tuning of a 16M deal to take another of our youngsters, Bertrand Traore. I am disappointed at this news as I felt Bertrand had something about him and was chosen by Hiddink to lead our line on many occasions. With the money we have made from Liverpool taking Salah, plus whatever rising fee for Solanke ad now Traore, the club has raised 26M+ from players someone at the club has deemed not worthy. How I would love to know who made these decisions.

It's probably the reserve Keeper, but https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-set-to-announce-mystery-signing-on-july-1-a3566836.html UPDATE: Sorry guys, just spied Cicero has already posted something similar in the Transfer thread

In my humble opinion We wont sign James Rodríguez. I believe the Real Madrid loving Spanish media are trying to drum up business in a player who nobody wants. They will continue to link him with a different club each week, as the last window. No worries ~ We will be fine
-
As a ex professional once told me, Hazard has just suffered from a slice of football Kama. Within a hour or so of teasing the waiting media and Chelsea fans for that matter, he hurts himself. Cest la vie. As I understand it, a new contract with Chelsea was agreed before the end of the season. It's for just shy of 300,000 a week and will run for 5 years. Starts 1st July 2017. In the contract is an agreement that after two years, if Madrid, and only Madrid come in for him, Chelsea will allow him to leave, as long as Madrid match the asking price. Eden has no interest in signing for anyone else. We will see

Hazard broke his ankle today

While we are on the subject of examples of players we believe are perfect for n would like to see at Chelsea. Someone I feel sure who would jump at a new start and wouldnt cost the crazy money being banded about for players and would score us a hat full of goals is Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich. I just feel, in those games we are worried about Romelu leading the line, against sides with packed defensive set up waiting for us to break them down, Muller would be perfect for us as his movement is outstanding. Look our manager made his name with his 3 at the back which we all know, but he also played two up front most of the time In Italy and there must be a good argument, in those fixtures mentioned above, with the packed defense, 2 up front is something that could make life easier for us. I think Muller is a great fit, speaks perfect English and is on record to stating he would like to play in England one day. London is far better than Manchester Thomas

This is a bugbear of mine with our club. Numerous times in the past we have won the league comfortably only to sit back on the players we had without really boosting the squad. Almost everytime there was a dip in form, be it commitment or lack of competition, we under performed. I hope they invest in at least 5 new players, all of which are upgrades on the players already in the squad. I believe this is essential if we want to seriously be in contention for both the major two prizes next season. We can't afford any passengers and that includes youngsters. They need to find loan homes early. To be fair to Conte, it seems like he is of the same mind and with his stock as high as it is with the owner just now, he may well get to build us a squad with top quality depth, something we havent seen at the club since the first 3 years of Roman. --------------------------------- The news from China this last 24 hours does seem to illuminate Costa's change in status during interviews with Hispanic speaking media outlets where he has firmly talked down any move out East. Not sure the club will be happy or sad?

Wife? I think you find she was an ex girlfriend who Wayne had walked out on almost a year before. But hey, those kinda facts never stand in the way of a child's giggle

Haha, I was hoping for better from you.

Who cares ~ It was for John & us.

Two very important things on Lukaku. One, when Everton get, some other daft "James Hunts" to use another's terminology, it becomes worthless when he says he only wants to sign for Chelsea. They can finger all they want to say we are not going to sign for less than the price offered, the power is with the player once down to 2 years contract. The boy is as big a Chelsea fan as anyone of the Chelsea members to this board and set his heart on returning long before this season started. Secondly, 70M being spouted Haha.... When sold to Everton Marina Granovskaia put in a % of any fee when he is sold on, as she did with Kevin De Bruyne which gave us a huge slice of the fee City paid for him. Some have said its close to 20% on Lukaku, although Id say it will be closer to 15%. Either way, it will be a huge saving on the deal. Lastly, Everton played hard ball on John Stones, even with a transfer request from him and we decided against it and that has, up to now, been a huge Bullet dodged. Chelsea 2017 have that ability to walk away in our armory. We didnt in the past & got burnt on a number of occasions. Everton will need to box very clever.

Manchester City Discussion
The Liquidator replied to a topic in Premier League - English Football Forum
I think his opinion is exactly how mainland Europeans in football rate English clubs. Alas for City, they havent quite broken into the "top" clubs club. Not to say they wont ~ Afterall, Nailing one's Boll**** to Pep is City's answer to make the elite level. We shall see -
Well it all depends on who those reports are from. My sources at the club tell me Christensen left on loan as a weak\soft defender who is pretty on the ball. Granted I dont get to see him perform in Germany every week, but the times I have seen him, mainly in European games, the above discription is the same today. You have to question his standing at the club as we tried to sign Stones who is equally as soft\pretty and boy, did we dodge a bullet there. I am also told Christensen isnt keen on returning to Chelsea. He is not convinced he will become a starter (Weak mentally which is another thing pointed at him) at the club and its been told to me dont be surprised he is used as a sweetener for a real defender, ready to start in the Premier League, during this window if that player comes available. Look, we will see.... I will be thrilled if he becomes a regular and I will be happy for you being right.
-
Christensen is right footed and will not play the left side of our defense. I appreciate you nailing yourself to Christensen as a player, but I will be very surprised if he builds a career playing in the English league. Talented footballer, weak defender. We shall see. Cahill has played out of position all season and baring in mind his left foot up to now has been for standing on, the boy has done wonderfully well, something his fellow professionals saw as he was voted in the best 11 of the season. James Milner is another this season who has excelled out of position.
-
With the ball, Matic has been found out as too much one sided (Left) Take any game from 2014 compared to today and you can see opposition players targeting his preferred movement to the left. His aggressiveness, or lack of it as the months have rolled on from 2014 is an interesting one. I saw him comment on Chelsea TV near the end of Jose 2nd time at the club, stating he was trying to give away less free kicks. More selective in his pressuring around our box as it had been pointed out to him he had been guilty of the highest percentage of free kicks in our defensive third. Maybe the better performances at the start of this season was because of the arrival of Kante, a little pressure works wonders with most players, but there is a fair argument that he is now feeling more comfortable again with Cesc only getting 10 starts all season, points to the manager preferring the two natural holding players as starters.
