I don't think we were as good as I've heard some people say, Palace didn't pressure us at all particularly in key areas and gave Jorginho and Kovacic the freedom of the pitch at times but got to be happy with three points in the opening game, with some players maybe still getting up to speed and with some players still to come back. Pulisic was dreadful, goal aside, surprised he doesn't get more criticism. He's no better than Willian at times.

The talk of Jorginho winning this Ballon d'Or is laughable, I've seen some momentum built for his case on social media but it just confirms too much weight is put on what a player has won, with too much focus on collective trophies rather than individual performances. Don't get me wrong Jorginho had some decent games for Italy and during the Champions League but overall they aren't Ballon d'Or worthy, collective trophies should be worth something when taking into account the nominees but perhaps not to the extent they usually are. Jorginho is an asset and can be useful, great on his day but overall for us so far he's generally inconsistent. Fabregas back when he joined us in 2014 would be a massive boost for this current team, exactly what this team misses.

He caught it in mid July, did his isolation and what not, felt better, got a negative test (albeit a home one) and went back to normal. Last weekend he started to feel ill again, at first thinking it was just a hangover but it lingered after a few days. Did a home test, negative, had the symptoms so did a PCR to be on the safe side and that came back positive. I'm aware you can test positive for the virus months after you've had it but it does seem a strange case. To be honest with you I had to Google 'reactivation' to find out more. I'm still not sure in my brother's case.

My youngest brother has caught the virus twice within in a month, I know reinfection can happen but I imagine that's very unlikely and very back luck. It's happened though.

England National Team Discussion
carefreeluke replied to carefreeluke's topic in International Competitions
I hope the English players are given a warm welcome in the first game back in the grounds up and down the country. Stuff like this is great to see, you never saw stuff like this with the 'Golden Generation'. In general, the England PR team must have done some good work over the years but still... The successful Spanish team that won three tournaments in a row also had these kinds of friendships, bonds, and camaraderie and it was one of the key reasons why they did so well for so long, overcoming domestic club rivalries. Hopefully, the best is yet to come from this group of English players, with a lot of them still young. -
Saul was my favourite character from Breaking Bad so years ago when I saw Better Call Saul was coming out, I was excited. It was one of those series though where I randomly stopped watching it years ago (not due to lack of enjoyment mind) so I don't remember where I'm at with it. It took a while for me to get into it as well but I did enjoy it, I might have to re-watch it all or something or look back and see where I got to. It's slow yeah but enjoyable I thought. In other news, at the moment, I'm watching Who Killed Sara? Mainly to practice Spanish.

It's strange how it affects everyone differently, some people can be more or less asymptomatic whilst others are in the ICU and that can happen with people with no existing conditions. I don't think I ever posted in here in the end but I had the virus back in February, was more or less like the flu for about a week. I think I lost my sense of taste and smell for 3-7 days as well, can't remember exactly how long it was but my sense of smell isn't great at the best of times anyway so it was a bit difficult to tell. The worst symptom though was tiredness and that lasted for at least 4-6 weeks, who knows though maybe that wasn't even related to the virus, but of course, it's likely it was. I also had to self-isolate for about a month as well in total, not because I wasn't well enough to work but due to a mixture of random things, it's a long story. If we lived in a world where this virus didn't exist and I had the same symptoms, I would have still have gone into work that week anyway, so looking back it wasn't that bad but still having the flu is never a nice experience anyway, particularly when the thing you have is new and being talked about in the media constantly. In the aftermath though, in the last few months, it's been a bit of relief actually having had it, dare I say. As you're supposedly unlikely to catch it again so in a way it's put my mind at ease a bit when going out and doing things. I have heard of people getting it again but it's supposedly unlikely, so touch wood. Of course, though the ideal is not getting it at all and getting the vaccine. @Devil Maybe you won't get that feeling of relief I had as you've had it much later in a country where the vaccine is passing through the age ranges very quickly but you'll be fine mate and I hope you fully recover as soon as possible. All the best.

I haven't watched Inter since they played Sevilla in the Europa League final when this lad wasn't even on their books. I'll say one thing though, Conte's system makes wing-backs look like world-beaters. It did the same with Alonso and Moses, one is now the second choice for us and the other is on loan in Russia. Hakimi could go on to be one of the best full-backs of all time but there's no doubt in mind, Conte's system is made for wing-backs to shine. They are basically playing as forwards at times.

Yes. In our top five best performers this season and perhaps he would be talked about more highly if he hadn't missed a good chunk of Tuchel's first few months which coincided with the team playing well again. If we continue next season with a similar system, even more so as it's a system that allows him more protection. The truth is though is that I thought he also did very well for us in a back four when Lampard used it as well. A solid season for him and he comes across as a cool bloke as well.
