Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 26, 2020 Subscriber Posted July 26, 2020 Hopefully this doesn't get lost in the waves of the reactions to the last day of the season but Baines played his last game for us today. 13 years at Everton, a modern day legend without a doubt for his commitment, loyalty and footballing ability. Even at 35, a huge loss to the club on and off the pitch. Must have killed him seeing the standards and culture at the club fall apart over the past 6-7 years. Can't blame him for turning down the offer of another year as it's well known he's got a lot of interests outside of football. Thanks for everything, Leighton.
Dr. Gonzo Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Not great to lose a player that puts in the effort like he does and is one of the few leaders in that dressing room. Makes a rebuild all the more difficult tbh.
The Artful Dodger Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Most assists ever for a defender in the Prem. Was a serious asset in a decent Everton side at point, seems like a really decent bloke too who hates the media, which is always a good sign.
Devil-Dick Willie Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Always liked him as a player. Shame his career overlapped with Coles so much as Baines was one of the few English lads of that 2012-2016 period I really rated. Not a bad defender at all and a seriously canny and dangerous attacking option from the back, beautiful free kicks and crosses.
