Don't really have much sympathy for teams that sack a manager that got them promoted at the first sign of trouble.

I imagine they'll bring in Chris Wilder and they'll be back up at either the first or second attempt.

All very inevitable, the whole situation, really. They didn’t invest well in the summer at all, they then sacked Bilic because he couldn’t get them going (understandably somewhat given the poor recruitment), appointed one of the old guard of managers in a desperate attempt to stay up and then Allardyce walks, too.

They’re a club with little direction or vision. They’re one of those clubs stuck in an 18 month cycle of operating.

They will be much better off without him and his ego long term. He only wanted another notch on the CV but he bit off more than he could chew.

Quite frankly, it's great to see Mike Bassett's unblemished record with a dirty stain on it now.

Too soon to be facing us in the Championship, I think he will wait until mid-way next season when the promoted yo-yo clubs sack their respected coaches for him. He’d be better with a totally new project though, like Celtic but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
