ScoRoss
What position do you associate each number with? For example in Argentina, the number 5 is most associated with a defensive midfielder whereas in Europe it's far more common to be a centre back. Brazil also associate the numbers 4 and 6 as their respective full back positions. Whereas in Europe, they'd traditionally be 2 and 3. 1 - Goalkeeper 2 - Right back / wing back 3 - Left back / wing back 4 - Centre back (likely to be the more 'cultured' defender) 5 - Centre back 6 - Defensive midfielder 7 - Right midfielder / winger 8 - Centre midfielder 9 - Centre forward 10 - Attacking midfielder / deeper striker 11 - Left midfielder / winger 12 - Utility player / full back 13 - Backup goalkeeper 14 - Winger 15 - Centre back 16 - Defensive midfielder 17 - Winger 18 - Central midfielder 19 - Centre forward 20 - Attacking midfielder / deeper striker

Ploughendplonker
These would be mine (assuming a 4-4-2 formation). 1 - Goalkeepeer 2 - Right back 3 - Left back 4 - Deep lying midfielder 5 - Centre back 6 - Centre back (leader and probably captain) 7 - Left winger 8 - Central midfielder 9 - Striker (target man) 10 - Striker 11 - Right winger

I suppose 7 and 11 could be right or left winger, but there's something about the number 7 which makes me think of a tricky left-sided midfielder cutting inside the full-back.
