2022/23 La Liga's Relegation Battle

football forums

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the matchday thread, but the battle to avoid relegation is intense in Spain, with 10 teams involved, and the ONLY certainty being that Elche looks to have a stranglehold on that 20th spot and play Real Madrid tomorrow....yikes.

Sevilla are probably just about safe now as realistically, after the draw with Celta last night, they only need 2 wins to survive.

Only 3 points separate Almeria in 19th and Getafe in 14th though.

Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao
Real Sociedad vs Getafe
Valladolid vs Mallorca
Real Betis vs Cadiz
Almeria vs Valencia

@Coma how do you feel about your chances to survive now? Another massive 6-pointer tomorrow!

I watched that Sevilla match and they absolutely gave it away at the end. 2-0 up in the 89' and they just shut down.

I feel like we can pull out of this with Baraja's guidance. Just need to figure out how to score more. Kluivert has been electric in the past few matches and a healthy Cavani will help. Looking forward to the Almeria match. I wish it was at home, but alas...

Fucking shit performance against Almeria.  Kluivert goes down with a hamstring.  Nico Gonzalez limps off again.  No attacking threat... just a bunch of passing around the box and the occasional lumping cross into the box.  The players just aren't good enough and it doesn't help that half of the starting lineup are loanees who couldn't give a toss if they club get relegated.

So many key games coming up!

Almeria vs Valladolid and Celta vs Cadiz.

Then Espanyol vs Almeria on the final day, as well as Valladolid vs Getafe.
