Moderator Tommy Posted September 29, 2023 Moderator Share Posted September 29, 2023 Episode 7 was great too! Really looking forward to the season finale. No way is it the end of the series. There's so much left to tell. Baylan is such an interesting character too, I wonder if they are going to re-cast him for Season 2, or if they somehow wrap his story up in the final episode of season one. Lucas
Finally got around to watching it as just had so much going on last few months. Pretty much binged it all day yesterday and I enjoyed it. My only complaints really were there was some elements of the story that felt a bit underwhelming and I that was because emotionally they failed to nail it with enough conviction. For example, Sabine finally finding Ezra felt more flat that it should have done, especially seeing as she was willing to sacrifice it all to find him. The impending threat of Thrawn succeeding what he set out to do at the end felt a bit like 'Ah, it's ok, it's all in hand' when you'd like to have really felt the fear from Ezra telling Hera he was coming or Ahsoka worried herself. I also wanted perhaps a bit more dread to surround Marrok, it's almost like he came and went without carrying enough threat to me. But equally I could be being picky. I think the character I liked most was actually Shin Hati and I wish we'd seen a bit more of her. She was brilliant, especially with Baylan Skoll, their scenes were always fascinating. You can see she has a lot of pent up rage and passion yet she's conflicted, she's not really sure which cause she's truly fighting for. It's like all she wants is to feel wanted, a sense of belonging, approval maybe, and perhaps without Baylan Skoll to guide her now, she will turn to Ahsoka as they are still on the same planet technically. But I hope we certainly see more development of her character one way or another. She was certainly far more intruiging to me than Sabine. I do wonder if it's set up now so that in Mando Season 4, it will heavily incorporate the threat of Thrawn and we'll see lots more of him. It would actually be great if we saw him in scenes with Moff Gideon too. A real battle of who is head honcho or an 'uneasy' alliance between them. I also expect the Ghost crew too with a Hera/Ezra cameo working with Din and Grogu. That'd be pretty cool.
OrangeKhrush
the entire series is just plot convenience and shielding, nothing makes sense which is modern star wars. I think this series was just one big improv session when everything conveniently happens without explanation. the series ended early for me, Sabine gets railed by a lightsaber which is through all he vitals, turning her into a human sosatie but survives with a little pepto bismol, then Morgan gets run through and dies......convenience much. the premise of fantasy is that the audience doesn't question whether it can happen in that world, when you are left questioning everything the fantasy unravels and the story fails. Moderator Tommy Posted November 9, 2023 Moderator Share Posted November 9, 2023 One of the best "new" Star Wars characters! Very wise and capable, but with unclear motives. It is a shame that Ray Stevenson died, but I do hope they find an actor who can do him and his role justice!
