That was disappointing last night. Without a maverick number 10 with similar traits to Olise I was expecting us to be hard to beat but struggle to win games. Instead we're losing the games we'd be expecting a point from. West Ham, Everton, Brentford and now Forest.

I think i said this here the other week but as long as we're not cut adrift of 17th by Christmas I'm not worried. I know its easy to say now but there's enough quality and the owners have a track record of pressing the panic button in January to good effect. But this season has been a stark reminder that after 10+ years we're still not as well prepared for the transfer windows as we need to be.

I know people regularly say "Look at Brentford!" "Look at Brighton!" but I think a better side to compare us to is Bournemouth. When we sacked Vieira we couldn't find/get anybody and relied on Roy's generosity to the detriment of his health, Bournemouth went out and got Iraola. Bournemouth have spent the last two years improving their squad depth and now have options to win games in the last 20 minutes, we have to bring on Jeffrey Schlupp in 2024 against Nottingham Forest. Bournemouth sold Solanke late in the summer window and replaced him the next day, but when Michael Olise left us at the start of the the transfer window we weren't linked with any similar players because it allegedly caught the club by surprise that a player good enough to be one of Bayern Muncih's best players wanted to play for a Bayern Munich.

Glasner and the players are not completely free of blame. The players are not performing to the same high standards as last season and Glasner has not found a system to get the best out of his lop sided team. But those fans that are beginning to turn need to be careful what they wish for, as with our track record, it wouldn't surprise me if Palace vs Wolves becomes 'loser gets Moyes'. Which whilst he will keep us up will just be so underwhelming.

I don't think Glasner knows how to get the best out of these players so he's experimenting.

Must be quite disappointing from fan's perspective to see he's still experimenting, even 9 games in.

Last night surprised me with Eze. Apart from those two long-range shots, he was very underwhelming, and at times looked disinterested or unfocused. Lazy passes but perhaps there's an over-reliance on him in the squad, and other players need to up their game too.

Yeah, the excuse that so many of our players were gone for the whole length of international tournaments doesn't wash with me anymore. Every other team has made a concerted effort to improve and so should we.

Glasner has a big decision to make regarding Eze. Eze clearly doesn't fit in to the system Glasner wants to play, Eze looks ponderous for most of the game, Parish sounded almost upset that Eze didnt leave this summer in his latest interview and Kamada knows what Glasner wants in this system. But Eze can produce a bit of magic at any moment, and if he was to drop Eze, and keep his boy Kamada who has underperformed in the starting lineup, and it doesn't work. Then oh boy that will cause some reaction in the fan base. I think a portion of the fan base turns if he does that. It would take some balls to gamble on it, but he has to do something as everything so far hasn't worked.

I thought Palace were really bad in the game against us even if they did deserve a point. Maybe it was just relative to inflated expectations but I remember at the time being a bit bemused by quite how many expected us to be bummed there.

It's mad to think Glasner could be one of the first managers to lose his job this season after being linked with Bayern in the summer.

Given his track record of starting seasons slow then finishing well, coupled with the lop sided summer transfer window we had, I hope we don't remove him unless we're cut adrift of 17th by Christmas.

If David Moyes does come in the script feels obvious. We go back to 4 at the back, we get the best out of Eze, we sign two good players in January and stay up comfortably. Then in the summer Parish waits until deadline day to replace the next best player that leaves to save 50p, we're left with a completely imbalanced squad, and Moyes is gone after a bad run of form. At least with Glasner's track record there's hope we'll eventually break this cycle of owner incompetence given his track record and overseas reputation. I've got no doubt if he was to leave us after a defeat to Wolves he will end up at a bigger club than us in Germany or Italy.
