Eco
Pretty cool competition if you enjoy lower league football. This is the only style of the English game that I absolutely love. For those that aren't aware, this is a cup competition that includes only teams at levels 5-8 in the English Football Pyramid. I came across Blyth Spartans during my last tour of England, and love the atmosphere, so I'm currently listening to their match right now in this competition, as they are currently up 1-0 against AFC Telford United. At the moment, here are the matches: 1st Round Blyth Spartans 1-0 Telford (24') Chesham United 0-0 Weston-super-mare (24')1st Round Replays Altrincham 0-0 Warrington Town (24') Brackley Town 0-0 Braintree Town (24') Heybridge Swifts 2-0 Hampton & Richmond (24') Boreham Wood 0-0 Dartford (24')
Smiley Culture
Odd that an American would like the FA Trophy and Blyth Spartans but yes, a more than decent cup competition, this. The second round has been drawn already.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 19, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted December 19, 2017 Was at Wembley when Cambridge won this a few years ago. Good competition for the sides at that level.

I have always had a soft spot for teams like York City, Blyth, Bromley, Boston, Luton, etc. Just so happens that Blyth was playing today.

I've been about all over England it feels, but I remember Blyth because we were in Newcastle (They used to be 'my team') and my Dad wanted to see the coast (he's into the nautical life), so we visited a lighthouse over there (St. Martin's? or something), and then went further North and ended up in Blyth. I remember seeing the Blyth Spartans shirt and thinking it look very slick (I was about 15 at the time).

Newcastle uni have a few nautical research places there i think. Everything is offshore wind farms now. Hope you didn't go into Blyth town centre though I can't imagine a tourist there. Yep - Got to see St. James and then a lighthouse, and finished at Croft Freckin' Park. Blyth wasn't the most memorable city I went to....
