Dave Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Barcelona midfielder Rafinha faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing a knee ligament in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. Rafinha was injured not long after coming on as a second-half sub at Wanda Metropolitano but managed to get through to the final whistle as Barcelona scored late to secure a 1-1 draw. However, a scan has shown the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and Barcelona have confirmed he will need surgery. A statement read: "Rafinha has a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. In the next few days we will proceed with surgical treatment." Barcelona will also be without the player he replaced - Sergi Roberto - for up to a month due to a hamstring injury.
Carnivore Chris Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 He'd had terrible luck with injuries and that's been his major downfall in his career unfortunately. Hopefully he recovers soon, although it's doubtful he will ever truly break into the first team now. There is injury after injury this season. As soon as one player is back, another one is out.
SirBalon Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Both his brother (Thiago Alcántara) and himself have had nightmare careers to date with serious injuries. I feel for him because Rafinha's career to date has been very uncertain on all fronts. The only period of real stability and being a league top dog was his time with Luis Enrique at Celta Vigo.
Subscriber JoshBRFC+ Posted November 29, 2018 Subscriber Posted November 29, 2018 Shame, i always thought he would go on and have the success his brother has had.

Dave Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is likely to miss the rest of the season following an operation on his anterior cruciate ligament. The club announced on Tuesday they expect Rafinha to be out for six months. The midfielder suffered a ligament injury in his left knee during their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on November 24. A club statement read: "Rafinha has had the ligaments on his left knee successfully operated on, he will be out of action for approximately six months." The Brazilian enjoyed a run in the starting XI last month while Lionel Messi was injured. He started against both Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga. He also played in the home tie against Inter Milian in the Champions League where he scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win.
