That's why he's so good, but in my books he's the midfielder that provides the stability between the midfield and the defence wherever he's played since he came to prominence at Leicester City. The modern holding midfielder (top quality ones) can roam into various midfield positions.
Guest Cannabis Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 What was Kante at Leicester @Dan @Stan?

One of the best midfielders we've ever had at the club. Did the defensive aspects of the job excellently, pretty much perfectly. Did well linking the midfield to Vardy, Ulloa and Okazaki as well. He may not be a defensive midfielder at Chelsea but he did so well protecting the defence with us. Sometimes he literally would do the job of two midfielders though.
Guest Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I don't know if Kante is a defensive midfielder or not, but in terms of his defensive game at the World Cup I was very impressed. Especially against us, where it's not easy to beat us in work rate. Kante did it double and before anyone says, no I am not basing it on one game. Everytime I've seen him he was massive and had a big role in France's World Cup win. I would pick him.
Spike Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I'd argue many of these players are not defensive midfielders. Sort yourself out, dickhead.
