Nice. Surprised that Red Bull didn't get rid of him sooner.

I normally don't rejoice in misfortunes of others but in his case I'm glad to make an exception. He had it coming; I remember when he started in Asian F3 Winter Series a few months ago which he said was "way below his level" and he was there "only for the super licence points", then failed to deliver and gain any super licence points and pulled out even before the final round. then Red Bull got him a seat in Super Formula and now he failed to impress there too. That said, RB showing him the door has probably more to do with his awful attitude.

Also someone edited his Wiki page already:

He's apparently being replaced by Patricio O'Ward! Eager to see how he does; won the Indy Lights last year and got a drive in the IndyCar but faced sponsorship issues. He's actually also driving in F2  this weekend replacing Raghunathan who got banned. Hope he does well; he's a very exciting and talented young driver. Will probably take Ticktum's seat now in Super Formula as well.

Nick De Vries has been around for ages. Nailed on for a year or two of disappointing performances in a Haas or an Alfa Romeo before disappearing to LMP or IndyCar.

LMP will not exist for much longer anyway :P Only 1 year left.

Don't think De Vries will make it into F1 anyway. Haas have their young driver programme (Fittipaldi and Deletraz); Sauber have their own junior teams with a few talented youngsters as well (Correa, Illott) and with one of their seat choices belonging to Ferrari I don't think they'd use theirs for someone like De Vries. With his Audi links he'll probably end up in DTM?

Great race by Mick today! Definitely his best one in F2 so far. Started from P18 due to technical issues yesterday and finished P4! Great drive by him with some excellent overtakes; gutted he just missed out on the podium after battling de Vries but it seems that he's starting to understand how Pirelli tyres work now so hopefully we'll see more of him in upcoming races.

Also:

:x

Guanyu Zhou becomes first Chinese driver to take an F2 pole! Another phenomenal performance; he's been such a revelation in his debut season!

Mick fucked up after getting stuck in traffic and ruining his lap :( P13 only; first time he's outside the top 10 in quali.

Sauber juniors at P6 (Illott) and P11 (Correa).

Sadly no win for Zhou; he didn't look comfortable today but still gets the podium finishing behind Ghiotto and Latifi.

Another unlucky race for Mick who was forced off the track by Mazepin at T3 on the first lap. Tried to recover and did well to move to P11 from last after the incident but still finished about 0.3s behind P10 so no points...

Disappointing race for both Sauber juniors as well. Illott at P8; Correa at P14.

Brilliant drive by Aitken to take the win at the sprint race! Renault juniors really look impressive.

Mick goes P6 from P11; a fun race for him with a lot of battles on track. He's fast and has good racecraft; needs to sort out his qualifying now and should be challenging for the title next year.

Good point for Sauber with Illot finishing P4 (Correa P10).

Didn't know there was a younger brother.

He already tested for Formula E as well. I've been following his career for a while now.

Mick on P4 in the Hungaroring Qualifying :o

His best quali result so far this season; same as in Monaco where the finished P2 in his qualifying group and started P4 in the race. Hope he gets more luck in the feature race this time; he's been pretty unlucky with that until now and would have quite a few more points in the overall standings if it wasn't for all the incidents and technical issues he had.

First reports are saying that both were conscious. Hopefully that's true.

Correa should be ok with potential injuries to his feet/legs. But Hubert's situation is extremely worrying. He went into barriers right after Raidillion and then got t-boned by Correa in full speed. His car is completely destroyed and his headrest has flown away too. So worried. Worst crash I've seen in a long time.

What can you say? Absolutely heartbreaking. Deaths in motorsport always seem like something you casually hear about from the survivors of previous generations. Thoughts with the family and friends of him and the rest of the paddock who will also be heavily affected.
