  1. I didn't miss your point, I made the same point as Rucksackfranzos. Don't you see that you are stating the obvious. Winning against any team in a group at these Euros eases the pressure in the next match. But it's easier said than done. You should say the same about all Scotland's matches then. Yeah, sure it can be argued that Germany are stronger than Switzerland, but there isn't a huge difference in class. The fact of the matter is, as I already said, getting a result in any of these games is a positive result for Scotland, given their strength. This all started when I wrote after Scotland's draw with Switzerland, that it was a positive(something like this, can't remember exact term I used) result for Scotland. Then you said "is it"? My point is that yes, it was a positive result given the stronger opposition and it is a result that Scotland would have probably grabbed before the tournament kicked off. Anyway, I don't think we are going to see eye to eye on this.
  2. Ferran Torres gets on the end of a through ball and slots the ball into the net to give Spain the lead! Albania 0-1 Spain
  3. You played on your own? Congrats
  4. Merino has a header on target, but it's saved by the Albanian keeper.
  5. So did you guys play last season? Who won?
  6. Sucic of Croatia has a lovely shot from outside the area superbly saved by Donnarumma!
  7. Spain have started with a team that's entirely made up of their reserves today against Albania. I still expect Spain to win though.
  8. This should be an interesting match. Croatia retain the experienced midfield and bring back Pongracic in defence. Kramaric, who was the man of the match against Albania in their last match, is selected as the main centre-forward ahead of Budimir and Petkovic, as to opposed to playing on the left of the attack, as he did against Albania and Spain. While Gvardiol plays at left-back. Italy look decent, with Raspadori and Retegi up front for them. Barella will be key in midfield for them. May the best team win.
  9. Under Clarke, this Scottish team should be really happy with any point they gained. That draw result against Switzerland was an achievement for Clarke's Scotland. The fact of the matter is that all 3 teams in this group are stronger than Clarke's Scotland, even Hungary. Hopefully the new manager of Scotland will get more out of the team.
  10. I thought that there wasn't any Comunio over the last 2 seasons, because there weren't that many people who wanted to play.
  11. Shaparenko was awarded the man of the match award and it's no real surprise, because he was excellent. Shaparenko scored Ukraine's 1st goal and then he assisted Yaremchuk for Ukraine's 2nd goal, with that lovely long pass to him. The most positive thing to see in this match from Ukraine's perspective, is the way they responded to going a goal down. Ukraine didn't press high up enough in the 1st half and that was obvious to see. But in the 2nd half, they pressed much further up the field and their quality told in the end, as Ukraine won 2-1 and created many other chances to score as well. An interesting fact to note, is that Ukraine have started with the youngest starting 11 in both of their matches at these Euros so far, with an average age of 25. However, Ukraine will arguably face their toughest challenge yet in their final group game against Belgium.
  12. It's interesting that this question is being asked, because I lost my 1st ever tooth just a couple of months back this year. It fell out when I was eating. I think that it's my own fault though, as there is an energy drink that I got into the habit of drinking regularly and I put it down to that, as to why my tooth got weak and fell out(fractured). My tooth literally broke and fell out, but the root of the tooth is still in place. To be honest, it was a bit of a shock, because only a few years earlier, I went to a dentist and they said that my teeth were in great shape. I've cut down on most things sweet since my tooth fell out and only rarely have a desert. I didn't experience any pain when my tooth fell out and I haven't even been to the dentist after the incident. About 90% of the visible part of the tooth fractured and fell out, with only a tiny bit of the root still visible. But luckily for me, it's a tooth that doesn't show when I smile, so nobody has even really noticed that it's missing.
  13. I personally wouldn't say that they are worse than Georgia. Georgia and Albania are the weakest for me, but maybe Scotland and Turkey next. The difference between Georgia and Scotland at these Euros is that Georgia were much more adventurous. Georgia were 2nd best in both their matches against Czechia and Turkey at these Euros. However, their adventurousness earned them a penalty which they scored from against the Czechs and which ultimately earned them a draw. Georgia were in Scotland's qualifying group for these Euros and during these qualifiers in 2023, Scotland beat Georgia 2-0 at home and they drew 2-2 away in Tbilisi. Scotland were the better and dominant side in both matches. Moreover, Scotland finished with 17 points in their qualifying group, 9 points ahead of Georgia who finished on 8 points. So Scotland are the better side. It's just that the Georgian manager Sagnol seems to have gotten the most out of this Georgian side at these Euros, where they have played to their best and to their strengths. Whereas that doesn't seem to be the case with Scotland, where the team has looked disjointed at times and lacking in ideas.
  14. I agree, Moyes is the obvious choice for me. He has the experience and the credentials to get more out of this Scotland side. But this Scotland squad that went to the Euros, has 7 players who play in the Premier League and 1 player who plays in the La Liga, not to mention other players who do have past experience of playing in the Premier League. They even had players who play in the Premier League who didn't make these Euros because of injury and other players who play in Serie A. It's obviously never going to be easy for Scotland in a major competition like this, given the strength of the opposition, but the potential is there to get more out of this team. The fact that they didn't have a single shot in the 1st half against Hungary, is something I blame on the manager and his tactics. I am sure Moyes could still get a good job in the league, but I think that he is the obvious choice for the Scotland manager role. I don't think it's harsh on Clarke, Scotland's weren't adventurous enough at these Euros in my opinion and that 1st half against Hungary was awful. Scotland have plenty of Premier League players and others who play in the La Liga and Serie A. There are some good players in that team, but they need a manager who will get the most out of them. Scotland had some excellent results in 2023, including a 2-0 win against Spain in the Nations League. But their performances in 2024 leading up to these Euros was very poor, so I always feared the worst once their Euro 2024 campaign kicked off. But the potential for them playing well against decent sides is definitely there. Having said that, this squad is still the weakest player for player compared to Switzerland and Hungary, as well as of course Germany. By the way, I do have to say that the foul on Armstrong in the area in yesterday's match against Hungary, should have at least been checked by VAR. It looked to me like many referees would have given that as a penalty.
  15. A host of clubs have been linked with buying Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and PSG have all been linked with signing the 25 year old Lunin. Arsenal are reported to be the closest to buying him though, as Arteta is said to be a big fan of Lunin and there are reports that Arsenal have already made a bid for him. Lunin played an important role in helping Real Madrid win the La Liga title last season, as well as the Champions League. Lunin was also nominated for the La Liga team of the season. Arsenal, Man City and Bayern Munich among clubs keen on 25-year-old Real Madrid ace - Yahoo Sports "Manchester United and Real Madrid to start talks on Lunin's transfer after Champions League final (June 1, 2024) — dynamo.kiev.ua
  16. Fullkrug has to start in the knock-out stages. He has to be Germany's main forward. Fullkrug has not started a single game for Germany at these Euros, yet he has already scored 2 goals in open play after coming on as a sub. Havertz has started all of Germany's games and his only goal came via a penalty. Fullkrug is the man Germany need leading the line. He is equally excellent at scoring goals in the air with headers as he is with scoring goals with his feet in or outside the area. I am sure the pressure is now going to be on for the manager to start Fullkrug in Germany's upcoming matches at these Euros.
  17. Germany have a strong side these days, but also the fact that they have the advantage of playing on home soil at these Euros, means that they are rightfully one of the favourites to win it. So I am not surprised that Tommy fancies them to go all the way, because this is a big opportunity for Germany to do so.
  18. I feel for the Scottish fans more than anything else to be honest. Player for player, this Scotland team that went to these Euros were weaker than all the other sides in their group. So them not qualifying is not too unexpected, but it's always great having the Scottish fans at these major tournaments. You're Scottish fans are some of the best, even better than our own I have to say. You lot don't go to other people's countries and sing about their bomber planes being shot down.
  19. Having Dykes, Patterson, Hickey and Lewis Ferguson injured and ruled out of the the Euros was a blow for Scotland. Tierney's injury during the competition didn't help either. But one would still have expected a little more from Scotland. I have to say though that right-back Ralston was poor for Scotland in all their matches in my opinion. Scotland will be relieved to have regular right-backs Patterson and Hickey back from injury. Gunn made some good saves against Switzerland and Hungary and he ended up being one of Scotland's better performers at these Euros, after his sub-par performance against Germany. But Clarke has to go now, it's time to give a new manager a chance as Scotland manager.
  20. Scotland are out, it's a shame for their fans, but they were always ranked the weakest team in the group, so we shouldn't be too surprised. Scotland have the oldest team at Euro 2024, you would have thought their experience would have helped them a bit more, but the other sides in the group are clearly better than them. On a serious note, lets all hope that Varga gets a full recovery.
  21. Schafer and Szoboszlai both forced Gunn into saves with shots late in the game and Csoboth also hit the post late on in the game. So Csoboth's last minute goal was coming. Hungary will hope to make the Round of 16 after finishing 3rd in the group, but it's a waiting game to see how other results go, to know if they definitely advance.
