AEW Rampage was as perfect of a return I think we will ever see. The timing was brilliant, the crowd was brilliant, he gave us just enough to get the whole world talking, and now I can't wait to see him again. With Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt and Adam Cole to come I think AEW will make a push to beat Raws live viewers by the end of the year which seemed unthinkable a couple of months ago. WWE Summerslam was very meh. When Stephanie McMahon over promised with several must see surprises she forgot there's only three people they could bring back (Becky, Brock, Rock) which hardly makes it surprising. They made Becky look like an absolute corporate mess too which goes against everything that got her over in the first place. NXT Takeover was very good. Its very rare I watch a PPV with three matches I really want to see in WWE at the moment. The only winners of this NXT rebrand are going to be ROH, Impact, UK scene etc who got decimated by NXTs recruitment policy. So whilst NXT will be trash at least the rest of the wrestling landscape will be better off.

I imagine he will do a year as a face and then win the world title whilst he's a heel thereafter. MJF needs something to do after All Out and his promos with Punk could be gold.

I would say that the wages that James Rodriguez will command should put every club off but nobody seems to care about how Covid has impacted football finances.

John Textor aka The Hologram Man has bought a stake in our club. To get the negatives out the way... He was the founder of Digital Domain (a visual effects company for Hollywood) which failed spectacularly in 2012. He initially was sued by investors (which included the state of Florida) but he was cleared of any wrong doings and compensated with $6 million dollars by hedge funds that were found to be the cause of the collapse. He is most well known however for FaceBank. They are company that produced that large hologram of Michael Jackson and have done so for other celebrities ever since. He more recently bought a sports streaming service called FuboTV in 2020 that have gone strength to strength since. He's merged both companies and it now floats on the New York Stock Exchange. In regards to football, his ambition was to buy shares in both Benfica and Crystal Palace. He saw the big three in Portugal as undervalued and believed there links South America saw great room for potential growth pre-covid. Unfortunately the owners of Benfica are currently in an 85 million fraud scandal concerning siphoning money from transfer fees so that ambition may be dead in the water.

And then Black beat him up again . Smart man Cody. Realises the attention will be on Punk, Bryan and possibly Wyatt and Cole after that. So write yourself off TV until the show needs some 'star power' again.

In all, WWE released from NXT yesterday... -Bobby Fish -Bronson Reed -Jake Atlas -Ari Sterling -Kona Reeves -Leon Ruff -Stephon Smith -Tyler Rust -Zechariah Smith -Asher Hale -Giant Zanjeer -Mercedes Martinez. Just how over budget are they? Surprised about Leon Ruff, Jake Atlas and Bronson Reid. Its clear the person making these cuts does not watch the show as Tyler Rust was in Roderick Strongs new group they promoted heavily.

Latest rumour is Adam Cole only renewed his contract for 12 months a year ago and is not interested in an extension. When you think what NXT was two years ago compared to now it's pretty much chalk and cheese.
-
It does make you think "what's the point" when you see moments like that and it leads to absolutely nothing. The rumour at the time was Bruce and Vince were massive fans because it spiralled in to six or seven different niche things and they ended up not trying one. I took Raw and Nxt off record this week. The way they've handled all the NXT call ups in the last year has made me question the point in watching either product. Kross and Doudrop cemented that decision. I couldn't get invested in the women's MITB match because I couldn't envisage half the wrestlers being there in two years time. I heard WWEs version of getting John Cena popular (not that he needs it) was signing Finn Balors contract for a match at Summerslam. That was me done with Smackdown too. Roman Reigns is great but he can't carry that around him for the next two years with a logical successor. 90%+ plus of WWE is embarrassing and wrong at the moment. Even the good stuff in the last five years is now largely pointless because of 'cuts'. I was critical of the image Triple H created as some NXT saviour whilst he was head of talent relations but since John Laurinitus returned the only words I can think of are: "fucking hell", it's reminiscent of the time he forced out @Devil-Dick Willie shill Cornette's OVW at the reputational damage of new talent for four years. He was poot at his job 15 years ago and has a job again when the business has evolved tenfold. Vince gets what he deserves when he makes decisions like that. Now there's an alternative I hope they never recover. They way they handle talent, rewrite history, treat fans etc. They'll be able to live off brand image for the next couple of years but they'll need a huge shift after that to recover image and momentum.

He's 99.9% going to debut on Friday 20th which is the first episode of a new show called Rampage which is in Chicago. Darby Allin dropped a massive hint this week about it by saying he wants to face "The Best in the World" and then winked at the camera.
-
Yeah. It's the first time I don't know what direction they'll take the title now. It's felt too predictable the last two years they'd go down the Jericho, Moxley, Omega, Hangman route but now I think they may hold off Hangman for another year or two.
-
Yeah, Rock and Cena will give them slight boosts and Roman Reigns will become a big star off the back of it but I can't see them regaining momentum any time soon. They have had chances to catch the main stream audience in the past and not capitalised on it. People are too aware in the modern age of how badly they treat people backstage too. To boast about record profits after releasing so many people during Covid is evident of that. They can't get away with the false narrative of 'the billion dollar company trying to run us out of business' like they did in the mid 90s pre Attitude Era.

I don't think the "TV War" exists any more to be honest. Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer promote it to remain relevant but nobody cares about the Neilsen estimate. Its just an estimate based on a small amount of households watching TV across America last. There's streaming, external websites, twitter clips, podcast reviews, YouTube reviews etc. So many other ways to judge the size of your audience. I hope Dynamite beat Raw in the live raitings for the story, but in the long term Vince McMahon can sack 30% of his work force during covid whilst putting out a poor product and still turn a huge profit without the peacock debacle. The state of history changing in his upcoming documentary is astounding but people will still watch it and nobody cares enough in the long run. It is exciting though. Take it for what it is. If Tony runs it like WCW who cares. WCW 1997 was awesome.
-
Yes. AEW want to promote Rampage as an A show. Brilliant move in retrospect but long term it will be very, very hard to make there main players look appealing 9 times a month. Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, Sting etc were great because of the intrigue. In my lifetime I only think The Rock is the only baby face that can handle that mad schedule. When Bischoff was told Nitro would go head-to-head with Raw in 1996 he realised the next six months would define his legacy for his lifetime and he was spot on. He's still making six-figure money 25 years later because of Lex Luger and nWo. This is Tony Khan's moment right now and its really exciting as a wrestling to see how it plays out. I don't care if AEW folds in five years time or if WWE becomes bigger than Marvel. AEW are making life exciting so let's see how it plays out.

Yeah I wasn't posting that spoiler intentionally (laughing emoji). I'm interested to see how far apart they debut and what it does for live viewers. I'm more interested in AEW than WWE at the minute. No idea if its Vince, Khan or Laurinitus but WWE have seemingly gone full circle and are focusing on recruiting/pushing the larger than life characters. There's little to no point watching NXT now as they change everything about them when they get called up. Personally I prefer watching people in the mould of Styles, Jericho, Bryan, Angle, Guerrero and Benoit so AEW has my attention.

This isn't permanent. The priority today has been to ensure that the platform remains active for people to interact which has been achieved.

John Terry's left Aston Villa. He's cited spending time with family, travelling Europe and then getting in to management. I really hope he dodges the Swansea job for his sake. The next manager looks doomed to fail there.
