  1. I completely agree. Before I agreed with the justification that theres only so much time on each show but they waste so much time on recaps of previous shows, previews to future shows and promoting Shane McMahon they must lose about a third of the show. The Raw after DoN was an absolute disgrace. The Revival have shown themselves to have great chemistry together, to be funny, and to work a good match against anybody. Theyre like a combination of a good Southern American throwback in the 80's yet keeping up with the modern advances in wrestling at the same time. ROH (and I expect AEW will) clocked on with NJPW that tag team and six man tag team matches are a great way in keeping a whole host of talent happy because they're performing. There is money in it as the right combinations can play off each other very well (Bullet Club, New Day, Young Bucks, LAX etc). Yet because its not "instant money" WWE continually discard it. Kofi Kingston is there popular Champion yet they still discard it. Its baffling when the roster is so bloated.
  2. Good post. Everything I agree with. The only issue is that now WWE are trying to appease two major networks that are both going to want the likes of Brock and Roman on there shows. I know you cant appease everybody but the chase to make Smackdowns raitings rise ahead of this move to fox has ruined its initial appeal for the viewer. I agree about releasing certain unhappy superstars and PPV brand splits. I'm sure the likes of The Revival, Harper etc will get picked up by AEW but raitings aren't exactly going to soar because of it.
  3. Having them show up in any company is good publicity. This way both tag teams keep their kudos in the company where there immediate loyalties lie. I imagine that will change for the Lucha Bros once the show on TNT starts as (especially Pentagon) they could be big characters in AEW. I've enjoyed Raw and Smackdown more in the last two weeks. Baron Corbin in particular is doing some of his best work and were seeing more of people. My main gripe at the minute is how much air time Shane McMahon is getting as hes ruining a lot of peoples momentum.
  4. I wasnt really looking forward to it. I think after seeing what's happened with War Raiders, EC3, Sanity etc has affected my enthusiasm towards NXT. But you're right, it delivered. I didn't expect Cole or Baszler to win but they were both surprising in a good way. All the matches hit expectations. It was a real good advertisement for a brand that needs to be good with the birth of AEW.
  5. Well it guarantees The Young Bucks will appear for AAA again and they'll lose to a team that will get a good reception. From a political stand point it makes sense. Im surprised they're not doing Moxley against Omega next given how well Moxley's debut has gone down. Over time I reckon he will get exposed in AEW so it may be best to milk him now whilst hes hot.
  6. That was ridiculous. 53 minutes we waited for a match and it involved Shane McMahon.
  7. I didn't mind The Young Bucks / Lucha Bros outcome to be honest. It sets up the match with Cody and Dustin for the next show nicely and I dont think Lucha Bros have signed an exclusive contract as of yet so giving them the win would have been rather risky. SCU were great though. With the talk of Gallows, Anderson, Revival and possibly even The Usos having an eye on the company when there contracts expire I was worried they may get pushed aside very quickly, but that performance shows that shouldn't happen. The tag team division is already quite bulky but they look capable of still holding their own. Cody Rhodes may not be the most technically gifted, but my word he is a great story teller. I quite like seeing a mix of styles throughout a card which is why I enjoyed him so much in Ring of Honor. I know they go on about being different but there is a time and a place to use WWEs story telling style and two thirds of the way in to the card was it. I dont think the show was as good as people are making it out to be on Twitter. Then again they could have had Kenny Omega wrestle a tree for three hours and people on Twitter would have been praising it. The production felt very similar to WWE and some of the commentary at times was actually very poor. However the majority of wrestling was good, some new characters to the mainstream market got some very good exposure (MJF, Best Friends etc) and they achieved their goal for the show. I will say that though thank god they signed a well known name in the Western Market in Jon Moxley. Before that I was feeling a little underwhelmed at the lack of surprises.
  8. There was one dig at WWE but other than that it was fine. The dig itself was a bit too budget and came across as quite cringeworthy to me. The matches however were very good.
  9. I agree with all of that to be fair. I think the Brock decision and the wildcard rule have come about because of the present raitings. However, they're suffering now because of the decision making process that's expanded for years. People aren't deciding to not watch Raw because Rollins is a bad champion, or because AJ Styles isn't interesting, or because Becky isn't doing well. Its years of part time Champions, years of people past their prime getting main event opportunities, years of glass ceilings being placed in front of popular talent. No matter how many times we are told change is coming we know they always revert back to the same rubbish. I guess though the network, sponsors, event organisers etc who pay WWE the big bucks dont see it like that. All there graphs will show that when Brock is there raitings are on the increase, as are when they bring back a fossil from the attitude era. It's this short termism approach I reckon that hinders the company in the long run. Fox for example will no doubt be delighted to have Brock Lesnar back. The only long term positive from MITB is the mental freedom they gave Ali, Andrade, Ricochet and McIntyre suggests to me that they are all rated highly. Oh, and the one thing that did annoy me at MITB. Them referring to the next Saudi show as good or bigger than Wrestle Mania. I mean come on What a way to piss on the last 35 years. You cant claim to be leading the way in a female sports evolution with statements like that. I do hope people refuse to stream Double or Nothing and pay the PPV price for it. They've got a chance to be on ITV long term in the UK which is mad. Better exposure than WWE now have with BT Sport (arguably bigger than Sky too as Sky never really pushed it). Theres a real chance to shock the industry here. WWE may make more money with their tours of Saudi Arabia but not having a grip in the major Western countries would really irritate them.
  10. I thought the unpredictable ending to last nights show was great but the internet seems to have had a break down
  11. Managed to land these tickets. Cant rotate the image because Rab cant handle the quality of my phone. The show started off 10/10. Then it went to an 8/10. Then before you knew it we didn't see Bekcy, Bayley or Rusev and we were watching 205 live. They did this weird thing where Charlotte walked to the ring. Got an absolutely brilliant reception because in the UK we love her. Then the lights went black and they played some feel sorry for Becky video, and we never saw her again. Pissed me right off. How can you have such a hot commodity and not even let her say something. Confused the audience and the crowd went flat after that. Which I imagine will show on the televised show.
  12. They've pressed the panic button on Raw again and made it confusing.
  13. If they persevere with it I reckon it will be a success.
  14. I think the results were more important than the match endings given what people have had to endure for some time with Brock, Roman, Shane, HHH etc consistently coming across as immortal. It looks like they're reeling out the old fossils again for the next Saudi Arabia show too.
  15. I think the results were more important than the actual match quality this year given what we have been subjected too in the past couple of years. We have had an inactive champion for pretty much two years, the Becky Lynch movement gathered up some pretty good momentum for some time (although they tried their best to make it confusing) and I can appreciate why the Kofi story has become so engaging for many others. It didn't need classics, it just needed creative to get things right. Plus, given the way the crowd reacted the following night. I think Vince McMahon succeeded in making the hardcore Brooklyn crowd look ungrateful.
  16. We both got around the same percentage right
  17. FOX have stated they want a more authentic show when Smackdown goes there and with the show in Saudi Arabia coming up I just presumed "business is business". Seth Rollins getting one over him on raw the show before wm is never a good omen. Credit to the producers though, that was a great WrestleMania. None of my underwhelming predictions came in because none of it was underwhelming. A 9/10 for me. If it wasnt botched roll up finish i would possibly be suggesting this was the greatest Wrestle Mania ever.
  18. Predictions for tonight: Brawn Strowman to win the battle royal in some crap spot with the SNL guys. Somebody who actually needs to win the womens battle royal will win to appease the competitors. I hope for Sonya Deville. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins to win (& lose the titles some time next month). Bayley & Sasha to win and be long term champions. Anybody but Rusev and Nakamura to win because Rusev is on some mad and unnessecary PPV losing streak. Triple H to win to satisfy his ego. The Miz to win, but Shane does something to satisfy his ego. Rey Mysterio to win because they seem to be betraying Samoa Joe as the worst tough guy ever when it matters Randy Orton to win because hes WWE and AJ Styles is TNA. Finn Balor to win because hes a demon. John Cena to cut off Baron Corbin and wrestle Kurt Angle in an enjoyable 20 minutes. Roman Reigns to win (& ends any chance of this generation creating another main eventer any time soon). Brock to retain. Crowd get pissed. Daniel Bryan to retain. Crowd get pissed. Becky Lynch wins main event to prevent a riot.
  19. 'NXT Takeover' was amazing. Pay per view of the year contender I reckon. The Johnny Gargano story over the last 18 months/2 years ranks up there as one of the best storylines WWE have ever told. Certainly with The Yes Movement story for the best of this decade. What a culmination that was to see him win and have his moment with Candice and Ciampa. I watched G1 Supercard on Saturday over the hall of fame. I was really enjoying the show until Enzo and Big Cass showed up. I'm 100% sure by securitys reaction it was a work which pissed me off more. If theres ever two things that dont scream 'Ring of Honor' its "was that real?" Segments and the tag team of Enzo & Cass. They've also signed The Beautiful People ten years after they were beautiful. On the other hand the NJPW stuff at the garden was brilliant. I've seen all the videos of the Hall of Fame incident. Whilst Dash Wilder is being hailed as a martyr I think people are overlooking the punches Travis Bourne initially threw at the bloke. The guy must have had a death wish to attack a legend in a career defining moment who is now 61 years old, a cancer survivor and whose previously had a stroke in front of a load of wrestlers. Oh I watched United We Stand which was a combination of TNA, Lucha Underground and a load of other companies. Production was poor, nothing noteworthy really happened, and TNA have for some reason bought back Rob Van Dam. Eli Drake (who is hopefully NXT bound) seems to have pissed off a lot of people by not participating in an inter gender match and has now been released. I dont think Don Callis ever really realised what they had in Eli Drake to be honest.
  20. Theres now talk of the women not main eventing WrestleMania now. It's amazing how they manage to screw the momentum of so many simple things.
  21. Other than Becky Lynch I can see a lot of mediocre endings for the fans too. I wouldn't be surprised if Brock wins given it looks like he may be staying, there's a Saudi PPV next month, and Roman has returned. Vince would love another Brock / Roman encounter at Wrestle Mania. Nobody else will but he will. Fans wouldn't give the scriptwriters credit for a Drew / Seth double at Wrestle Mania but they'd sure moan if they both lost. I'm secretly hopeing for Bryan to beat Kofi. I was a bit gutted we didn't see him win the title cleanly as I felt robbed of what would have been a fairytale story, but he looks really comfortable as the focus of the show. I hope he retains and the superstar shake up gives him new challengers. Also the fact Kofi doesn't have a chest annoys me. AJ/Orton I'm looking forward too. Randy Ortons done a really good job building it. Again, fans don't want to hear it but Randy winning from a story perspective as the WWE guy for 15 years makes sense. HHH/Batista can get fucked as can Miz/Shane. The inevitable HHH/Shane match at WrestleMania 50 bores me already. I'm not really feeling Kurt Angle's retirement match. The buzz of him returning wore thin when he kept wrestling one off matches too frequently. I'm sure Becky Lynch will main event Wrestle Mania and will win. It's quite integral that happens really. It's nice to see the scriptwriters riding on a wave of momentum. The difficult part will come when she's been Champion for a couple of months maintaining that momentum. People love the chase of a face but there's not many faces they get behind as Champion for a long period of time. For the foreseeable I see 'A NEW ERA' after Wrestle Mania with brand switches, then a 'NEW ERA' with nxt becoming a two hour third brand to compensate the growth of aew, and then a 'NEW ERA' when smackdown draws a bigger audience when it moves to fox.
  22. Triple H and Shane McMahon looking immortal and taking spotlight EVERY year is just embarrassing. Especially when the roster is so bloated with talent. The culmination was Triple H winning the title at the Royal Rumble a couple of years back, along with Shane McMahon crushing all the momentum The Miz has built in the last couple of years with that tag team. On a side note Ronda being a 'c u next tuesday' is probably best for her given she was one in her latter days in UFC. The fans hate her, the fans have a weird obsession with girls that show attitude, it makes sense. The one punch thing at Fastlane though was meh. At least do something else after.
  23. I agree with Danny. At a time when the roster is bloated and the wrestling world in general is booming they should be giving everybody maximum opportunity to showcase their talents. Raw, Smackdown and NXT were all really good this week. I know it's impossible to keep up that many returns but here's hopeing they keep the shows strong going in to Wrestle Mania.
  24. I do find myself sympathising with him a lot recently I went on Twitter the other week and people who want the atittude era to return were legitimately complaining about Alexa Bliss being in a towell. Sometimes you just can't win.
  25. Rusev Day was popular but then again so was Damien Mizdow. There's multiple factors in play as to why certain movements get halted and others like 'The Man' get pushed to the next level. Factors we more than likely will never become aware about. He got a title chance out of his run and is the only 'modern' superstar to get in the ring with The Undertaker alongside Roman and Wyatt. To me that should still be looked at as an achievement. Sure, he didn't beat AJ Styles for the title but so he shouldn't because AJ Styles if far superior to him.
