  1. The bolded part isn't true. The fact that the victim wouldn't testify anymore is irrelevant and unfortunately not that uncommon. If the photos and the tape are genuine there is enough evidence to try him and convict him. A prosecutor doesn't need the victim to testify if they have enough evidence to convict without their testimony. The CPS are also legally obligated to take this to trail if they are given or find enough evidence. It seems to me that it was the discovery of new material that led the CPS to feel there was little or no chance of a conviction. However, what that new material is, is anybody guess. Without knowing all the facts you run the risk of destroying his career unjustly.
  2. I stand tby the concept of innocent til proven guilty, it's the corner stone of our judicial system. All charges have been dropped, he's not been found guilty , so under the law he is innocent. However, unless we are told what the new material that came to light is, that meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction, it's hard to make an informed decision. There is always going to be doubt and the CPS are doing everybody a disservice by keeping this new material secret, especially if it casts doubt on the authenticity of the pictures and the audio tape.
  3. I haven't taken the time to research how the FFP rules impact United, and might not understand them if I did, but I have seen it said that if United sell him for less than 30m it impacts United negatively regarding FFP rules.
  4. Funny. But it's pretty worrisome that people can change what you said.
  5. You wouldn't think so given they were playing Real Madrid the next day. It depends on the marketing in San Diego. They might have suggested that United would split their squad for the two games. I haven't heard about anybody who attended the game complaining.
  6. The United Wrexham reminded me what these North American friendlies used to be like. It's only in the 3 or 4 years that the teams put out decent sides, likely because of huge money on offer for attending. You used to see academy teams mixed in with the odd first stringer playing in stadiums not suitable for soccer and costing you an arm and a leg. The purpose of these games where to get players in shape and getting a look at young players on the verge of making it to the first team. There was never any consideration for the North American fans, it was a money making trip and a chance to get some training in away from England.
  7. Jackson scored again tonight against Newcastle. Starting CF, with Nkunku playing behind him.
  8. Do you think Alvarez is going to start on a regular basis? Seems to be coming off the bench most of the time.
  9. Don't think there's much chance Mbappe goes to City, he doesn't like playing with Neymar and Messi, so he's not going to get himself into a situation that's like the one he is trying to get out of at PSG.
  10. Only player on the club to have won the Premier I think.
  11. Why even bother requiring about a loan. United need to sell Maquire to help bring in new players.
  12. I had to look Bradman up as well, but I don't know anything about cricket, much prefer baseball. I also have heard of Dixie Dean, but then again I am old.
  13. If new owners ever get here and pay off the debt it adds another 60 m or so. With player sales or using some players to bring the transfer cost down we should be OK.
  14. Sad ending to what I felt was a good career with United. Great shot blocker, saved our butts a few times. Unfortunately with the modern game having keepers play with their feet, de Gea was a bit of a liability. Wish him well wherever he ends up.
  15. Seems odd, hope it doesn't hurt Wednesday's season.
  16. Looks like it. The better of the two options for me.
