  1. Is this the end of Hansi Flick at Bayern? My gut feeling is he's going to the national team. He seems really unhappy with the recruitment at Bayern and his fallout with Salihamidzic has been public knowledge for months now. Edited to say, I really like Hansi as a coach, and he seems like a nice guy. Doesn't seem to fit in with the arrogance of some past and present Bayern personnel.
  2. Leeds and Bayern...oof. Best look into 1975. One of the biggest reasons I don't like Bayern.
  3. Considering they were battling relegation last season I'd say Kohfeldt has done wonders with the same players. Even with the loss of Klaasen, who was awesome imo. Are there financial issues at Bremen or is the COVID stuff just hindering them like everyone else?
  4. I stand corrected I was thinking of Eggestein.
  5. I've seen Bremen play a few times this season. He's not a left back is he? Thought he played more CM.
  6. https://www.kicker.de/zieht-es-augustinsson-auf-die-insel-4000000036938/transfermeldung Saw this on the Leeds WACCOE message board today. It's a week old.
  7. I didn't know that was a thing. I wish some of the crap we have over here was for export only.
  8. Saw some old bottles of St. Pauli Girl in an antique shop over the weekend. Didn't realize that was brewed in Bremen. Always assumed it was Hamburg.
  9. He wants the Ballon this year. He got screwed last year so he's gone and decided to "up it a notch". It'll be just like the French to cancel the event again.
  10. I don't feel like VAR is the problem... I feel like English referees are the problem. They're either given poor guidance on how to use VAR, or they're complete imbeciles. I watch the Bundesliga primarily (4-5 matches per week) and I honestly can't recall a decision made by a German ref that I thought was questionable. I'm sure there have been some, but nothing like the weekly debate in the EPL. When it's applied correctly it hasn't ruined the game. But drawing lines from kneecaps to armpits is fucking annoying and, in my opinion, not what the game wants or needs.

Yeah, first time I heard this song I thought wtf is this? The vocal style is different but after hearing their albums it's definitely grown on me. Here's another.

    Big fan of this band.
  15. This is for science. I'm not sure you're trying hard enough
  16. That's part the craft beer craze here though. Finding ways to up the alcohol content while maintaining the flavor balance. My interest starts dropping off when brewers are cranking out imperial IPA's that are 8-9% ABV. 5-7% is my comfort zone for most beers. If I need any more than that then I'll just grab some tequila. I recall this Amber being pleasant enough. I think I had it in a local pizza pub when I asked them to recommend a "brown ale".
  17. Ha, I actually found one that I have tried. Alaskan Amber is an altbier style.
  18. Not sure I'll find any of those brands out my way. I might have to settle for an altbier style made here. One of the bigger selling brands in the States is Warsteiner. Any opinions on that? I found it OK, nothing special.
  19. @Tommy Is there a style of beer that Dusseldorf is known for?
  20. I have learned enough to know the difference between ales and lagers, but I'm American so it's all beer.
  21. Big fan of Stella. That's my go-to when I've had enough of the craft stuff.
  22. I have an international market not far from where I live (outside Cincinnati) and they specialize in worldly beers. I recognize the Ayinger and Weihenstephaner brands. I first had the Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen when visiting Epcot at the German pavilion and found it very refreshing. Cincinnati has a huge craft beer scene (although who doesn't now?) and a history steeped in German beer. One of the older brands still brewed here is called Hudepohl. The "Over-the-Rhine" area of Cincinnati has a lot of breweries/pubs in the area and is coincidentally where they built the new stadium for the MLS team. One of my favorite local brands is Rhinegeist.
  23. I consider myself an avid beer drinker and, as established in another thread, I'm not above any sort of beer. What are some recommendations for German beers to try?
