  1. If it comes down to goal difference, fair play to Arsenal tbh
  2. If we end up with Slot... and United and Everton keep their managers... there won't be a single strand of hair on the head of any manager for any of the 4 clubs from Liverpool & Manchester.
  3. Dunno how he wasn't sent off tbh, that was a shockingly bad challenge.
  4. It's always a minority that's extreme, but the extremists are a problem and their rhetoric reaching more and more people inevitably leads to more extremism. And this small minority has caused quite a bit of noise with their rhetoric, as well as managing to kick off a few times into outright violence. If you've got a university scrambling to at least look like they're making an effort to look like they're protecting students so they don't get hit with a big lawsuit, it's either a considerable minority or they're a very motivated minority. No just saying people far away from being in actual harms way of this conflict shouldn't be using protests that should be done in the name of human rights and Palestinian statehood shouldn't be using platforms to spread hate and encourage violence.
  5. I don't think they should ban protests, but when shit crosses into blatant hate speech (as above) and devolves into violence - which has happened now at Columbia University multiple times (and neither "side" is blameless)... the school is right to step in and demand protecting for its students. Evidently, though, that's not enough to quell these protests from growing, their rhetoric getting increasingly ugly, and the threat of future violence seems unlikely. I don't think being pro-Palestinian or having sympathies that lie with the Palestinians makes you necessarily antisemitic. I don't think being Israelis or pro-Israel people all hate Arabs and think it's just fine for the IDF to slaughter them. But I think there's substantial people amongst the pro-Palestine/pro-Israel sides that take advantage of this conflict to just spread their hatred. But you're right that these extremists aren't helping anybody. They're not doing anything to better the lives of anyone actually impacted by their "cause" - they're just spreading hatred.
  6. I don't think we should be pretending like things like this aren't antisemitic: How would we feel if that was 5 black guys standing around with BLM flags & some guy in white robes holds up a sign that says "the Klan's next targets"? Some of the footage coming out of the Columbia protests are outrageous, the media coverage has been insane to me - it's scenes that rival that white nationalist "Unite the Right" in terms of open displays of racial hatred, sort of just being swept under the rug. There's been this trend among the far-left to champion good and worthwhile causes that deserve support: Palestinian statehood, racial equality, ending police brutality... and then go about support of these things in the most repulsive and repugnant way that draws criticism for these worthwhile causes. Then leaving the movement in tatters for the next trendy cause to protest for. It's honestly a disgrace, because worthwhile causes that make the world a better place should be supported. But going about it in a way that is disgusting is going to do nothing positive. And I don't see how displays like this picture from Columbia University, or chanting things like "gas the Jews" or "Jews go back to Poland/Romania/Europe" are going to lead to anything positive for those who actually want to see Palestinian statehood and a restoration of Palestinian human rights and dignity.
  7. Watching that tactics video @Danny posted, I actually thought the opposite. It requires some big changes to how our defense and midfield are set up, a season after we'd spent a lot of money to totally rebuild the midfield. And I think would necessitate making quite a few big changes next season, where I think we're destined to struggle due to being in transition of systems, that I think might have made the process go on a bit longer than it would for a manager that plays with a back 4. Cos really with our central midfielders, only really Endo and Mac Allister would fit in with Amorim's tactics imo.
  8. Chris Bascombe & Melissa Reddy with similar articles now too - might be something in it.
  9. Paul Joyce, who's one of the few Liverpool journos I think has any credibility says we're targeting Arne Slot: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/sport/football/article/arne-slot-next-liverpool-manager-jurgen-klopp-r3sl6vdc8
  10. @Spike, @Mel81x & myself say otherwise
  11. Did Janes make the Commanche games? I fucking loved those games when I was a kid. Actually as a kid, I loved all kinds of flight sim games.
  12. Tbh, I'm not sure questioning the standards of the refereeing is all that different to questioning the integrity of the officials. I feel as though PMGOL has not only not done enough to protect their referees from looking like they lack integrity... I honestly think they've left open enough doors for their integrity to be in doubt that they truly have invited people questioning their integrity. I think Forest's tweet was unhinged, I don't truly understand what a "referee analyst" does at a club other than Forest paying Mark Clattenburg to sort of rubber-stamp the unhinged messaging coming from Forest... but at the same time, I do think PMGOL having their integrity directly attacked by a club was bound to happen sooner or later and I'm not surprised by it. At the end of the day, I don't think PMGOL has anyone to blame for public accusations of referees lacking integrity than themselves. And I don't think PMGOL makes any steps to try to restore the illusion of having referees with integrity or generally improving the performances of referees/VAR officials without getting some very public criticism that can't be ignored. Forest's tweet was unhinged, but it can't be ignored and it keeps the integrity of referees in the spotlight. At the end of the day, I don't think that's a bad thing. If PMGOL and referees don't appreciate the heightened scrutiny and having their integrity questioned after this season... I think they've got to take corrective action to improve how they're viewed. In Forest's case with the incidents in question, I don't believe lack of integrity was the cause of the bad decisions. Everton aren't 115 Charges FC or Newcastle. But I don't blame Forest for taking advantage of the fact trust and faith in officials actually having integrity is at an all time low while they make unhinged accusations.
