  1. Can you really accuse a person of being homophobic though when the factors that have led them there are cultural and religious beliefs from where they grew up? It's probably a dangerous can of worms to open because most people who are homophobic, sexist, racist, etc. can probably point to environmental factors beyond their control rather than it being a case that they're fundamentally bad or intolerant people. Should Sarr and Gueye know better? Probably. They've spent most of their adult lives in European countries where they'll have been exposed to open-minded societies to act as a counter to the cultural and religious influences of their youth. I'm just always conscious that it's easy for me to point at homophobes and racists from other cultures when I've grown up in a liberal democracy with normal parents. Yes you should be able to think for yourself by the time you reach adulthood but it also might not be easy to, for example, go onto a football pitch wearing rainbow laces if you know your parents, uncles and aunties back home would be ashamed of you for it. Probably playing a bit of devil's advocate. To be clear, I'm very much not homophobic and people are entitled to feel as strongly as they want about their football club making decisions like this one.
  2. Feels pretty insane that Mercedes could go for a rookie driver and Red Bull could be choosing between proven mid drivers Ricciardo and Tsunoda to partner Max, leaving a very capable race winning driver like Sainz choosing between Alpine, Williams and Sauber. I think the last potential wildcard is if Toto manages to talk Max into ripping up his Red Bull contract and making the change to Mercedes. If that happens then surely Red Bull have to snap up Sainz as their lead driver and partner him with Yuki/Daniel.
  3. Sorry that I haven't got the Hungary results up yet. I'll try to do so before the weekend but I'm super busy at the moment. It may have to be a double update next week!

  5. Trump is still the favourite but looking at the narrative and the bookies it has NOT been a good 48 hours for his hopes.
  6. He should bell up Boris Johnson and see if he's got any fridges he can lend him.
  7. Stop derailing the thread .
  8. Unelected bureaucrats.... did I walk into some sort of Brexit Bingo thread here?
  9. Needs to be a strong campaign from the Democrats now. I liked Biden but the whole age thing was dominating the election whereas the threat Trump poses to Western democracy and what an inappropriate candidate he is in general is what should be dominating it.
  10. Every race is worth looking forward to now even if Max has probably got the Drivers' wrapped up. Mclaren have a great chance at the Constructors now. The bookies have it as 50/50 between them and Red Bull.
  11. Mclaren have made a mess for themselves again here. They weren't marginal against Hamilton at all. They should have just pitted Oscar first. Or to be honest if they were ruthless they should have decided to give Lando the win for the Championship instead of whatever this is here. Verstappen has put in one of the most petulant performances I've ever seen here.
  12. Perez is a solid and opportunistic midfield driver in the same category as Bottas, Hulkenberg, etc. He was never going to trouble Max as a team mate overall. It seems that Red Bull always develop the car to suit Verstappen's unique driving style and naturally this causes the other driver to look increasingly poor because most of them drive nothing like Max. Gasly, Albon and Perez are all decent F1 drivers if not elite. None of them are over half a second worse than any other driver on the grid on average. It all seems to be about Max's driving style. If you put him and Perez in two Mercedes or two Aston Martins I think Max would still do a better job but only by 2 or 3 tenths of a second per lap. Perez clearly has lost his head though. These crashes are a symptom of a driver who's lost all confidence and is trying too hard because he feels like he has to risk everything just to get within half a second of his team mate.
  13. Playing the role of a Red Bull #2 already .
  14. Perez would probably welcome the chop at this point. I saw a rumour during the week that they're going to give Yuki a chance at Red Bull, put Lawson and Hadjar in the RBs and dump Ricciardo. I expect them to do some sort of swap in the summer break. Interesting to see whether Perez sees out the year in the junior team or they put Lawson in.
  15. I love the Olympics. I was annoyed when it was in Japan that it started at midnight our time and finished at breakfast because it meant I didn't catch much of it live. Looking forward to watching a lot more random sports this year.
  16. Deadlinesman Norris Norris Russ Ham 11th SAI
  17. @Stan you didn't do pole position by the way!
  18. @Coma @DeadLinesman @MUFC @RandoEFC @RandoEFC @RandoEFC @RandoEFC @RandoEFC don't forget to predict!
  19. Funny there were no murmurings about this before this announcement. Nothing surprises me. Not really arsed about the details but something to do with the debt owed to 777 being complicated by their legal situation. This off the pitch stuff is a massive bore now and I'm just going to try not to pay attention to it.
  20. What is... "too much sport"?
  21. This guy is genuinely worse than AFTV were at their absolute lowest point. The bad thing is that a lot of Man Utd fans I've seen are drinking the Kool Aid as well. They've made a narrative for themselves that they've got one over on us because they didn't buy Branthwaite. It's absolutely bizarre. I don't know a single Everton fan who's upset that we're keeping him and I don't know a single one who would have been happy to see him go even for the asking price of £70m. How many more years are they going to have to be shit and embarrassing for before (some of) their fans stop being such insecure, entitled man-babies?
  22. This kid might be good but Man Utd going from refusing to bid above £50m for Branthwaite when they knew Everton's valuation was £70m, to spending over £60m on an 18 year old who has one year left on his deal, suggests to me that INEOS are picking up pretty much where the Glazers left off.
