  1. Ha, the very idea of my post came from scrolling through my photo feed earlier today and wondering why some of my photos got more likes than what I think they deserve, whereas the ones that I do like best seem to be less appreciated, as a general rule So I definitely see what you mean. I like the composition of the second one; natural framing is great in how it leads the eye to the background, and I also like how "layered" the background looks with some hills behind other hills. Where is that?
  2. Nice start! I like the bridge one; night photos have something about them, don't they? Love the colour, and also the beams of light extending upwards from the bridge lanterns look pretty cool, too The second one is very nice (very ambient and moody), but it's supposed to be a photo you took that is most rated by others
  3. Yeah, I think the ones that document life events, relationships, achievements, etc. are automatically the highest rated ones, so preferably just random shots instead, haha. And cheers, I also think it's quite interesting, especially if we can get people talking about it
  4. Yep, either most likes, upvotes, best star ratings or whatever. Alternatively, if you don't share any online, then maybe a photo you've taken that your friends/family seem to like the most.
  5. I was wondering - what's your most favourite photo that you have taken yourself? Only one, please. Additionally, if you share your photos anywhere, what is your highest rated one by others? Also only one, please. I'm curious to see everyone's most favourite shots, but I'm particularly interested to see if anyone's favourite shot is also their highest rated one... @Stan @Viva la FCB @Mel81x @Pyfish @Rick @Lucas @Tommy @CaaC (John) (and everyone else, I only tagged the ones who posted in this thread or who I know likes to take pics)
  6. For All Mankind is back with Season 2... It's a good thing it's weekly release, otherwise I'd binge it again in 2 nights like I did with Season 1
  7. Yep! But even then, it's not exactly true sound. Curiosity didn't have any microphones, and the recorded sound actually came from InSight's instrument measuring marsquakes and air pressure sensor, and then NASA raised the pitch a few octaves up so that a human ear could hear it. Meanwhile, Perseverance has two microphones, so this will be the first time we will have true recorded audio on Mars. We should already hear it once the landing video is released...
  8. Depends on what your primary purpose is. If you want to simply observe/stargaze, then pretty much any binos with decent magnification/aperture will be great, just keep in mind that with anything larger than 10x you will struggle to keep it steady without shaking for prolonged periods of time; 10x magnification is more or less the limit for handheld binoculars, and if you get anything larger, you will definitely need to use it with tripod! Even 10x50 is a bit too much for me, hence why I went for a smaller ones (7x50) this time. If you want to take photos, binoculars won't be great, I'm afraid. A decent camera for nightsky will set you back quite a bit...
  9. Some more screen caps from the press conference:
  10. That's Curiosity Still amazing though!
  11. Nope, not at all! Just over 40€; those are pretty much best bang for your buck...
  12. Sol 1 press conference just started. They just shared this:
  13. Started watching Invisible City (Cidade Invisível) on Netflix, as the concept intrigued me - basically Brazilian mythology/folklore mixed with a modern day crime.and mystery. Only watched the first episode, but I'm really enjoying it so far. Kind of getting American Gods vibes, in a good sense!
  14. Wow, this is mad! Amazing capture.
  15. @CaaC (John) do you remember, our names are also on the microchip on the rover now as well
  16. Now let's hope it finds biosignatures on Mars, too...
  17. To be honest, NASA's landing on Mars record is great though 8 out of 9 were successful, I believe.
  18. I love the relief and excitement in their voices
  19. That's just a sim visualisation haha. Now awaiting for first images.
  20. Backshell separated, navigation complete, 300m to the surface.
