  1. That just made the odds of me ever coming to San Diego considerably higher
  2. Oh I'd definitely would - I'm pretty open to new experiences and even more so when it comes to beer Although I have to say that me ever coming to San Diego is extremely unlikely though.
  3. I'm probably in the minority that doesn't really like craft beers. They tend to have overpowering flavour profiles which I don't like.
  4. Dasani and other bottled water is usually filtered using reverse osmosis meaning it removes all impurities and minerals which impact the taste of the water otherwise - so a bottle of Dasani will taste the same everywhere. Water used in beer brewing will have a different taste profile depending on where it comes from due to the different mineral composition hence the variations in the end product. I believe that's what @Viva la FCB meant.
  5. Well a draft beer fresh from the tap will always taste better than the bottled one of the same variety (given the freshness and cleanliness of the lines); that's not even a fair comparison. I never had Veltins on tap; so it might be that it's actually drinkable and just the bottled version sucks. Also imported beer isn't necessarily exactly the same beer as the one found in its native country despite of the same brand name. Slightly different recipes and additives are often used for beer that is intended for export. Not to mention the exposure to sunlight and varying temperatures during the trip. In case of the major brands it is often not even imported but rather brewed under license at your home country meaning it will most likely have a different taste. I hate it.
  6. I warned you Aldi Nord (the bad one) is based in Essen while Aldi Süd (the proper one) is based in Mülheim.
  7. Be careful @Eco, Germans do take their discounters seriously
  8. Looks fantastic. Good to see the story of Jägerstätter making it onto the big screen too. They changed the name of the movie though? Thought it was Radegund before.
  9. Haha, I don't know if something like that exists in the US. It's a shopping cart chip. Basically in most grocery shops in Europe you have to put a coin into the handle of a shopping cart in order to "borrow" it when shopping (which you get back after returning the cart to the cart stand). Since it's not always possible and not very convenient to have a specific coin whenever you're shopping, there are chips the size of the coin made by companies to use instead of a 1€ coin.
  10. Yes, it's like we've all got different tastes or something I'll drink to that. Prost!
  11. It has that weird sourness that makes the beer taste rotten to me...
  12. Still better than a fucking Einkaufswagenchip I got
  13. I quite like Warsteiner for what it is; especially Warsteiner Herb. To be honest other than the cheap low quality ones the only mainstream mass-produced German beer that I can't stand is Veltins. Most of the others are alright; I obviously like some sorts better than some others but in general I don't mind most of them.
  14. It's nothing extraordinary but it has sentimental value for me
  15. it's 76€ + a one-time admission fee of 20€ when you join for the first time.
  16. I think both Sol and Corona are both very mediocre bland beers but I do enjoy a Corona with a wedge of lime on a hot day; especially on the beach. Or as a part of long drinks. Michelada Goes really well along spicy food too. Or if you want to spend the whole day pub crawling. So yeah I agree; there's a place and time for different kinds of beer. Weirdly enough Heineken tastes good during a flight for some reason. There are some that are absolutely horrid at all times and in all situations though.
  17. Honestly the worst beer I ever drank was Finnish. Lapin Kulta was the name of the brand I think. Watered-down, bland and disgusting to such a degree that it's barely even drinkable - even at 6am in transit at the airport after a long haul flight which normally means I'm not very picky anymore at that point. Oh and the price of 11€ for a glass didn't do it any favours either. Horrific. Should be a crime to even call it beer as it's false advertising.
  18. Everyone knows that that's why nobody outside Köln drinks it
  19. https://www.transfermarkt.de/2-bundesliga/daten/wettbewerb/L2 That second big image you posted isn't accurate I think. I see they still put Frankfurt at less than 60000 but they're at 80000 now; so there might be some other errors as well.
  20. The names of the membership tiers might vary from club to club but when it comes to Werder the only difference between the two is having a right to vote - Fördermitglieder don't have this right whereas Vollmitglieder do. Being a member has a few advantages in general; the main ones being discounts on season tickets, two free match tickets, priority in getting tickets for top and away matches, discount on merchandise and then some other small stuff like club magazine etc. A full membership with voting right obviously gives you a direct say in how the club is run so there's that. Back when I became a member I was living nearby and going to matches from time to time but to be honest I never had a chance to use any of the membership benefits anyway (other than free stadium tour). For me it's just about supporting the club and being part of it hence why I'm still a paying member and probably will be for life (depending on how silly the cost gets of course).
  21. That chart is accurate. For the part in bold: I'd say Frankfurt benefits from the fact that there's a lack of higher-profile clubs in Hessen so they are more likely to attract fans from all around the state whereas Bremen is the smallest federal state in the country and is surrounded by a geographical area with a number of other historically successful clubs with strong fan base. Hamburg is just over 100 km away and have HSV and St. Pauli; Niedersachsen have Hannover which is also just over 100 km away and also a few other traditional clubs in lower leagues + Wolfsburg. That said, the costs of the membership aren't helping to attract new members ever. I've been a "Fördermitglied" for years and wanted to upgrade to a "Vollmitglied" but the membership fee of 168€ a year is fucking ridiculous. It's the most expensive one in the league as well; more than double of what some other clubs charge ffs.
  22. yeah that was the initial reason why I decided against it but just watched the trailer and it looks pretty good... Might give a try then.
