  1. Anyone's still awake? I've got a cold (it's almost as bad as @Bluewolf's manflu) and can't sleep and I'm boooooored to death Talk to me.
  2. Just watched Episode 1 and really liked it... Will continue to watch.
  3. All I ever really need to be happy in terms of beer is König Pilsener when it comes to pilseners and Franziskaner or Weihenstephaner or Schneider Weisse when it comes to Weißbier.
  4. Pretty much answered on the first page of this thread before it went off topic.
  5. Hamburg is class. Granted the last time I've been is more than 10 years ago but I doubt it changed all that much. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
  6. Just look for the red light in the windows, that's usually your best bet.
  7. Don't think anyone cares about Aldi when at the Reeperbahn...
  8. I like a Corona with a wedge of lime every once in a while. But I don't really consider it beer...
  9. That just made the odds of me ever coming to San Diego considerably higher
  10. Oh I'd definitely would - I'm pretty open to new experiences and even more so when it comes to beer Although I have to say that me ever coming to San Diego is extremely unlikely though.
  11. I'm probably in the minority that doesn't really like craft beers. They tend to have overpowering flavour profiles which I don't like.
  12. Dasani and other bottled water is usually filtered using reverse osmosis meaning it removes all impurities and minerals which impact the taste of the water otherwise - so a bottle of Dasani will taste the same everywhere. Water used in beer brewing will have a different taste profile depending on where it comes from due to the different mineral composition hence the variations in the end product. I believe that's what @Viva la FCB meant.
  13. Well a draft beer fresh from the tap will always taste better than the bottled one of the same variety (given the freshness and cleanliness of the lines); that's not even a fair comparison. I never had Veltins on tap; so it might be that it's actually drinkable and just the bottled version sucks. Also imported beer isn't necessarily exactly the same beer as the one found in its native country despite of the same brand name. Slightly different recipes and additives are often used for beer that is intended for export. Not to mention the exposure to sunlight and varying temperatures during the trip. In case of the major brands it is often not even imported but rather brewed under license at your home country meaning it will most likely have a different taste. I hate it.
  14. I warned you Aldi Nord (the bad one) is based in Essen while Aldi Süd (the proper one) is based in Mülheim.
  15. Be careful @Eco, Germans do take their discounters seriously
  16. Looks fantastic. Good to see the story of Jägerstätter making it onto the big screen too. They changed the name of the movie though? Thought it was Radegund before.
  17. Haha, I don't know if something like that exists in the US. It's a shopping cart chip. Basically in most grocery shops in Europe you have to put a coin into the handle of a shopping cart in order to "borrow" it when shopping (which you get back after returning the cart to the cart stand). Since it's not always possible and not very convenient to have a specific coin whenever you're shopping, there are chips the size of the coin made by companies to use instead of a 1€ coin.

    The Cringe Topic

I see what you mean and I agree on so many accounts but as someone who sees social media primarily as a great platform for exchange of information, it makes me sad that it's been mostly reduced to immature ego manifestations. Not surprising mind - but still sad.
  19. Yes, it's like we've all got different tastes or something I'll drink to that. Prost!
  20. It has that weird sourness that makes the beer taste rotten to me...
  21. Still better than a fucking Einkaufswagenchip I got
  22. I quite like Warsteiner for what it is; especially Warsteiner Herb. To be honest other than the cheap low quality ones the only mainstream mass-produced German beer that I can't stand is Veltins. Most of the others are alright; I obviously like some sorts better than some others but in general I don't mind most of them.
