  1. Splashdown complete! Crew Dragon is safely back to Earth; mission can now officially be called a success!
  2. And both Ferrari and Mercedes are not in it because they were the only teams to refuse access to the filming crew
  3. I have a love/hate relationship with that book. Love the symbolism, the flow and the way it captures the feverish mood of that trip through the jungle but darn it can be tough to get into... Especially the first third of the book or so.
  4. Love it. Plenty of undiscovered species still around, especially when it comes to insects... I'm a part of a nature photography group here and we regularly get updates from a few biologists who work in the area and have made quite a few new genus and species discoveries in recent years. Indochina is like a biologist's dream haha.
  5. It's a great publicity; especially when it comes to getting the new generation interested in spaceflight and exploration. It's cute, it's funny, and it attracts attention of both kids and adults who wouldn't otherwise care about ISS or Crew Dragon or space in general. That's why I love it - it's so emotional and human; the astronauts getting attached and posting updates on a plush toy aboard their station and people on Earth following and talking about it...
  6. Latest update: They are not letting it go back... It's Crew Dragon's last day on ISS - the hatch has been closed already and the undocking and reentry will happen tomorrow! The splashdown is expected to be broadcast live on NASA TV and SpaceX channel again. The last - and one of the most important - part of the mission now ahead of us; to prove that it can actually return to Earth safely in one piece.
  7. Ah those are the Disney Infinity 3.0 action figures from The Clone Wars animated series?... Nice!
  8. Fast forward to 2021 - Williams win WCC!

    Those "before" and "after" pics...
  10. Williams are such a mess... Apparently Paddy Lowe has just taken a "leave of absence" too I like Frank Williams a lot and he doesn't deserve this; it's a caricature of a great team that it once was.
  11. It does get lonely in Space I take it... The current ISS crew can't do anything without the little Earth anymore That's the best PR they had in years
  12. Did you make it to the Mun? My next flight attempts were a bit better haha. I successfully entered the orbit but then accidentally used all the fuel and so my spaceship with the Kerbal astronaut got stuck in the orbit forever... The next attempt to get into orbit and then reenter and successfully land was spot on as I downsplashed on water with my crew capsule and all astronauts in tact It's not an easy game for sure but the training modules are great and teach you all the basics pretty well...
  13. They will eat their socks when Max wins that WDC
  14. Well my first sub-orbital flight wasn't exactly a great success!
  15. I haven't started playing it properly and only looked around a bit today but even the training mode is quite humorous and presents rocket building in a lighthearted manner. That said, it looks like a fairly difficult game to be fair as there are so many different factors rooted in real physics that need to be considered for the spacecraft to actually work... I heard it's very challenging, the failures are fun instead of being frustrating and the achievements are very rewarding as it takes a lot of effort and many attempts based on trial and error to make it right.
  16. They are out of stock until April as a result of this one getting into space The company that makes those is called Celestial Buddies and they have a nice collection of other plush celestial bodies as well: https://www.celestialbuddies.com/ Mars is very cute for example: Or the Black Hole:
  17. Löw informed Müller, Hummels and Boateng today that his plans for the future of the national team don't include them.
  18. They're really loving the little Earth up there Even made him wear a protection mask Also in different news, here's an onboard video of the Hayabusa shooting a bullet into an asteroid in order to collect a sample: So cool!
  19. Finally had a look at Kerbal Space Program today; a rocket building/spaceflight simulator game with a bit of humour and well simulated natural laws that govern real-world space travel. Aerodynamics, orbital mechanics, thermodynamics, gravitational pull, trajectories and much more have to be taken into account to complete missions successfully so it's a real niche game but it's a gem for all wannabe rocket scientists out there haha! In addition there are loads of mods and some of those are even officially developed by members of scientific community. Love it; can't wait to get properly into it!
