Astronomy Picture of the Day 2021 October 24 Halloween and the Ghost Head Nebula Image Credit: Mohammad Heydari-Malayeri (Observatoire de Paris) et al., ESA, NASA Explanation: Halloween's origin is ancient and astronomical. Since the fifth century BC, Halloween has been celebrated as a cross-quarter day, a day halfway between an equinox (equal day / equal night) and a solstice (minimum day / maximum night in the northern hemisphere). With a modern calendar however, even though Halloween occurs next week, the real cross-quarter day will occur the week after. Another cross-quarter day is Groundhog Day. Halloween's modern celebration retains historic roots in dressing to scare away the spirits of the dead. Perhaps a fitting tribute to this ancient holiday is this view of the Ghost Head Nebula taken with the Hubble Space Telescope. Similar to the icon of a fictional ghost, NGC 2080 is actually a star forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way Galaxy. The Ghost Head Nebula (NGC 2080) spans about 50 light-years and is shown in representative colors. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

Movie binge night for me as the wife is around our daughters for a ladies night drink and staying the night, so for me, so far, I have watched... Man on Fire (2004) - Denzil Washington - top marks for me but I fucking hated the ending bit, a pity they never made a part 2 where he survived. Eraser (1996) - Arnold Schwarzenegger - 8/10, can't say how many times I have watched this film but I love old Arnie films. Now ready to watch Independence Day - (1996) - Will Smith - 7/10. Hic

We can all go on about how he won us the treble in 99 and that includes me but, if you think about it he came on as a sub with Teddy Sheringham who scored the first and had an assist in the second via Ole's boot and when I keep looking at that second goal if he had left it alone I think the ball would have ended up in the back of the net and Sheringham would have had a brace and he would have been the hero on that glorious night. -

You've been smoking the funny stuff!!!! Foden is nowhere near the class of De Bruyne, maybe in a few years time but De Bruyne is a class act, swap him for Pogba if you want. -
A visit to our daughters and get attacked again by Puddin the Beast, he has bloody grown and his paws are massive.

As I said, they do it a bit different in our surgery, you have to line up out of the main door and press a button for the receptionist who will check who you are and make sure you are wearing a mask, they will let people in if they can't stand for long periods like me with my sciatica so I sat inside while the wife went in and had her check-up, and when you leave you leave by the fire door and not the main entrance.
