We've apparently turned it down. Unless we think we can hold out for more, I think this could be a mistake as though he's done well for us, Etheridge's distribution is poor and Smithies is a good replacement already. £7m for a player we got for nothing could have been good business.

WEST HAM SUFFER FRESH SETBACK IN TRANSFER PURSUIT OF 29-YEAR-OLD

West Ham United have seen their £7million offer for Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge turned down by the Championship club, according to Claret and Hugh.

It was reported by Football Insider earlier today that the Londoners had submitted an offer of £6million plus £1million in add-ons for the Philippines international, but it now appears as though the Bluebirds have rejected this latest bid.

I think you can get more money out of West Ham, who look pretty desperate for a keeper with Fabianski injured again.
