Approximately a £11 million profit in 18 months for Celtic. Not bad.

He is definitely talented. Would be a better wing back than a full back, as defensively he still has a lot of improving to do. He's not the biggest player and will struggle to compete in the air.

Feel like he’s the type of player you lose that feels a bit depressing, young and talented.

Normally yeah. The problem is that no player is ever going to be able to develop properly at the club as it is.Its probably for the best to move him on just after he’s burst into the scene and someone is willing to pay a major fee off the back of that hype.

Otherwise you risk that he stays here for a few years, his development is stagnant, downs tools, and then he goes for a pittance like Ntcham.

What's happened at the club since Rodgers left? Feel like things were fairly positive for you

There's no real modern sporting structure in place. The way of working swings around wildly based on who the manager is.

Things were pretty well-run for a while purely because after his initial success, the club gave Rodgers almost total control. The transfers in were iffy, but that was it. For all you can say you can't deny that Rodgers is serious and studious about his job, and he demanded the same of everyone else.

Lennon is an old school motivator manager who ultimately just likes being around the boys and having a laugh. There's no structure around him to ensure a minimum standard is upheld. If he can't be arsed to organise proper training, monitor fitness and nutrition, or develop a transfer strategy, then these things simply won't happen.

Any young player going into that environment will see a mile off that they will never reach their potential there.

Yeah they are two very different managers, it's a shame the structure isn't there at Celtic as that period with Rodgers in charge especially is one of those moments where you can build as a side that could regularly do a decent job in Europe and dominate the league, but here you are 20 points adrift of Rangers.

Even if this was a couple of years ago, under Rodgers, you'd have thought it would have gone ahead then as well? He's a good, young player but that is a very good fee for him.

With no obvious attachment to the club, and a chance to move to one of the best leagues with a team that regularly competes in Europe, it's a tough opportunity for him to turn down.

In any case it is a tough fee to turn down, but there is a very good chance that he will develop into an elite wing back, and would be worth a good bit more than £10mil.

If things were better, the club could potentially convince him to stay here for at least a few years and then get a much larger fee. But that slight chance has become a zero chance.

A lot of young players are quite screwed-on these days in terms of their priorities, and will turn down bigger moves for a while if they're guaranteed game time. It's just that game time isn't worth it if it's in a rudderless team with no standards and no serious coaching. He knows that if he stayed here for two years, he probably wouldn't be a much better player at the end of it.
