Liked him a couple of seasons back but hasn't kicked on. Would have preferred Cornet from them but we really need to be getting bodies in.

Medical already. Sounds like a fee rising to £15m but not too much of it up front again.

Two midfielders and perhaps one more attacker away from an actually balanced squad numbers wise.

Like Tarkowski, it's the type of signing I wouldn't have even surprised to see Everton make a couple of seasons ago for a lot more money.

His stats last season make poor reading but I think it may be case of spending too long at one club and needing a change sooner.

It's interesting. One assist last season but created more chances and better dribbling stats than any of our attackers and reasonably high in the league. If he's feeding a fully fit Calvert-Lewin then there's the potential for a good combination.

A calculated risk, could go either way. Making signings like this, Lampard is certainly backing himself to get the best out of these players from a coaching perspective, and that's where his strength seems to lie more so than in his tactical nous.

It's a small point but what he should say is £20m including add ons.

Why is it that local journalists and club officials report the fee as "a structured deal worth up to £20m with an initial fee below that plus add-ons" but when it comes to Sky and the national newspapers they make the transfer fees sound as large as possible using words they can just about get away with without it being an outright lie? Sky have actually described as a deal "in excess of £20m" which I simply have not seen reported anywhere else.

I understand the selling club using the highest possible true figure to make it sound like they got a better deal but it's cringe how Sky Sports especially gratuitously inflate the apparent fees as high as possible just so they can say "another record breaking transfer window" on deadline day. Headlines, headlines, headlines.

This is why there's people out there who actually think we paid £40m up front for Dele Alli xD.

I think this is a good signing for the short and long term, Everton are in desperate need for creativity and players who will drive the ball up the pitch and help keep it up there. I also think him feeding Calvert-Lewin can only be a good thing for both players, ontop of that he may end up freeing up whoever it is that ends up playing right wing as they seem to cut in a lot.
