One of Mexico's greatest players and one of the best centre-backs of the late 90s and early 2000s has finished his football days and for Mexico this is the end of an era. I always thought he was rather underrated. Not enough credit was given to him when at elite level and he was a fantastic defender... Piqué took over his position when he decided his time was up at Barça and his partnership with Puyol was one of the best in contemporary Barcelona teams.
