Is this affected by Palermo's impending relegation to Serie C?

Following the decision to relegate Palermo for financial irregularities, Serie B have cancelled the planned play-outs, while Perugia enter the play-offs.

However, that could change again on Friday, as Foggia will have a verdict on their appeal against a six-point penalty, so if that were reduced, then Salernitana would go down instead.

As it stands, the Lega Serie B announced that the relegation play-outs have been cancelled, so Palermo, Padova, Foggia and Carpi are relegated to Serie C.

Venezia are therefore now safe and don’t need to take part in the play-outs.

Palermo had been due to take part in the promotion play-offs, but Perugia are bumped up instead.

Would be cool if Cittadella made it, would be their first time in Seria A?

Yes sir!

I think every 'neutral' is going for them. We've seen Verona many times, so let's get someone new!

Germany got Union Berlin...

I used to follow a lot of Seria B, it is an interesting league. Don't they have a tiny stadium for the Seria A like under 10k? If they make it i doubt they will have the option to play at their home ground.

I love Serie B, particiulary with Parma being down there last year, and Palermo here recently.

Cittadella is a TINY town, but about 20k people.

*In fact, according to Wikipedia the population is 20,145. xD

There stadium holds just over 7k people.

I thought it was a one off final? Good win for them

Nope - done over two legs, a classic home and home.

So Cittadella is going into the 2nd leg up 2-0, and will be playing at home.

Isn't it the other way around? They won the first game home 2-0, and will play the return leg away?

Serie B: Cittadella one step from history

Cittadella are on the verge of a historic promotion to Serie A after taking a 2-0 lead in their two-legged playoff with Verona.

Davide Diaw scored either side of half-time to leave Cittadella in a strong position ahead of Sunday’s second leg.

The Venetian club were only founded in 1973 and have never played in the top tier of Italian football.

A 2-0 scoreline may not usually be that safe, but there is no extra time or away-goals rule in the Serie B playoffs.

On the other hand, Verona will win promotion if both sides are tied after 180 minutes due to their superior League placing.
