Subscriber nudge+ Posted August 30, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 30, 2019 Just watched the replays of both free practices as I was away the whole day today. So Ferrari is a beast on the straights as expected but still suffers from poor race pace and tyre wear it seems. Mercedes' race pace still seems to be the best. Their new spec PU seems to have some issues potentially though as Hamilton lost power in FP1 and Perez engine went on fire in FP2. Frustrating for him if he takes an engine penalty now because of it as he had a great pace on long runs and seemed capable of keeping up with the top teams in the race trim. That might be related to somewhat high temperatures today so should run better on Sunday as the temperatures are expected to drop. Hard to judge Red Bull; both Max and Alex did few long runs and both ran on different programmes. Still they seem to be behind Mercedes and ahead of Ferrari on long runs. Not sure about quali; Max might be able to compete with Mercedes but Ferrari should be unbeatable here. Worth mentioning that Red Bull ran their cars on lower power today though so tomorrow it might look a bit different.

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 31, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 31, 2019 Clumsy from Lewis. The car should be okay in time for qualifying. Ferrari look really strong for pole.

Moderator Tommy Posted August 31, 2019 Moderator Share Posted August 31, 2019 What's going on in the Ferrari garage? Mercedes Spec 3 engine seems to be very unreliable.
Subscriber nudge+ Posted August 31, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 31, 2019 Weird Q1 plagued with engine problems... Kubica's engine failure looked spectacular. Gio's new Ferrari engine up in smoke as well. It's a pity as both Sauber cars were doing well and I hoped to see them both in the top 10. Verstappen lucky to have clocked his fast lap right before the session was stopped. Should maybe have switched to the new spec after all; that one seems to have been ridden with mapping issues for a few races in a row now. Let's see what Q2 brings

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 31, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 31, 2019 Hopefully Leclerc can convert this one to a win. Mercedes have better race pace but surely not enough to make up 0.7s per lap?

Subscriber nudge+ Posted August 31, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted August 31, 2019 Kimi starting P6 Ricciardo and Perez looking strong here as well. Expect RB to do much better in race trim. Will be interesting how Albon does in a full attack mode with a new engine from the back of the grid. Still going for a Mercedes win tomorrow. Ferrari's race pace and tyre degradation is much worse and I fully expect them to do something stupid again.
