Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted October 6, 2019 Subscriber Posted October 6, 2019 R.I.P. Ginger Ginger Baker, one of the most brilliant, versatile and turbulent drummers in the history of British music, has died aged 80. His family had previously made it public that he was critically ill and asked fans to “please keep him in your prayers”. His Facebook page said he “passed away peacefully” on Sunday morning. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/music/news/ginger-baker-wild-and-brilliant-cream-drummer-dies-aged-80/ar-AAIlUBn?ocid=chromentp
Harry Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 RIP. I must admit I was always reading about ginger being the best drummer on the planet, or at least the best Rock music drummer... I never really felt I'd heard his best work.
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted October 7, 2019 Subscriber Posted October 7, 2019 You know its not easy to work with people who have, lets put it mildy in Ginger's case, issues. But they all did and they managed to come out with some stuff that is very good and still is to this day. If you go see the later performances it seems like the drumming got a bit mellower and that is attributed to the fact that Baker started developing muscle issues but the first six minutes of this video when they open with Sunshine of your Love and the energy he puts into the act is why he was alone in what he was doing when they came out.
Dr. Gonzo Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Ginger Baker is one of the best drummers of all time. He's undoubtedly one of the most influential people to ever play the drums - from rock, to jazz, to metal, to world music, and probably a whole load of other genres his influence is felt all across these genres. Highly recommend that fans of Cream and people who are interested in just... interesting people... check out the film Beware of Mr. Baker.
