I think we need him to have a run of about six games in the starting xi before we can pass judgement. He definitely grew in to the game and hopefully the defensive cover, beating a man more regularly etc should improve the more he plays. Mateta's a good example of that. I wrote him off after last season but after a run in the first team to build confidence he's shown against Man City, Chelsea and Brighton good hold up play, ability to win the ball, hassle defenders and link play. You can see why he's linked to bigger clubs than us in Germany despite not setting the world on fire as with his size and better attributes he's probably scoring high in the data charts for what those clubs are looking for in a modern forward.

I was more pleased with last night's game than I was with the win against Sheffield United. We let Chelsea have posession but they weren't able to quickly transition past us and we kept our shape well. Everytime they played more than three passes together I was confident we had them. It was good example of controlling the game whilst not having possession. I did however say at half time that if they do get a shot within ten yards they'll score and low and behold as soon as they got it in to that area it had to be Conor Gallagher who doesn't seem to score anywhere else. After that we went back to holding the game well but the difference in the quality of substitutions was quite telling and broke us down. Once the likes of Raheem Sterling were on the pitch Chelsea just began to stretch the game, pockets of space opened, and we just couldn't hang on for another three minutes. I'm not sure if that performance will get us anything against Everton, but it does give me the confidence that we will get the 12 points from somewhere to stay up this season.

I think it's getting to the stage now where Paddy McCarthy needs to start doing press conferences. This is the fourth occasion now where I've thought "I get what you're trying to say but it's come out completely wrong".

What is it that Harris and Blitzer actually do? Has appointing Frank de Boer haunted him that much hes too scared to make a managerial decision? Would he be willing to remove his almighty voting rights to assist with a sale? Even if he addressed just one of these issues it may alleviate some of the anger we're going to see on Monday. On Twitter they're trying to arrange a booing demonstration from the 1st minute ffs.

He seemed more annoyed in his press conference with fans complaining about the style of football as opposed to the missed transfer opportunities.

If he waited another week he could have found himself back at our place .

John Textor has done something similar with his Belgium club and Lyon. It's the next loophole they'll close I reckon.

The one thing he needs to do is get the owners to address the imbalance in the squad this summer. They are absolutely stacked in midfield with two proven goal scorers upfront in Alfie May and Freddie Ladapo. Yet it'll still be a difficult climb up the table with that defence.

Well that's us relegated unless Everton and Forest get point deductions. Doucoure out for the season, Olise out until April, waiting for updates on Marc Guehi and Ebere Eze. Oh and the slight problem that nobody wants to manage us. It's mental that after 11 years in this league our squad still looks so so poor and the owners thought we could get away with it.

That Palace team looks like a bottom half Championship club. It's one thing having players injured, but we do have players whose role is to be creative. Even if they are a step down from those lads, the fact that he sees Franca as a development player and Ahamada as a poor man's Jeff Schlupp is why I have completely lost faith with Roy and have come to the conclusion he is one of the things holding the club back. It hurts to say that as I have been one of Roy's biggest sympathisers but I read somewhere that we've used less players than everybody else but still haven't started anybody under 21. That's quite frankly ridiculous. This is the time you should be trying to blood in players like Ozoh, Franca, Ahamada etc. I get the argument that Franca, Ahamada, Ebiowei etc didn't set the world alight when given very limited cup opportunities but the side argument is neither has Schlupp, Hughes etc at all this season. It's too reminiscent of the problems we had in 2018 to 2021 with Sorloth, Meyer, Camarasa etc. We had plenty of injuries with the same coaching methods and these players were still not trusted and they never recovered.
