I think it's similar with Disney + in the essence that the only way to get your big stars on board is to not restrict there biggest revenue source as we saw with Scarlett Johansen after her Avengers film. That said I was reading an article on Peacock in America and it is amazing how much money some of these subscription services are losing. I'd be surprised if some more established names are not in trouble in the next five or so years.

    Boxing

I was listening to it on Talksport during the drive home from Manchester and one thing that was quite telling was that the audience enjoyed the whole card. Too often when I watch a boxing show the majority of the seats for two thirds of the card are empty. I know boxing purists will shit on it but KSI, Paul brothers etc deserve a ton of credit for how they're able to promote/market themselves and others. Fair play to them for bringing through a new generation of fans where some will want to get in to boxing through them.
  3. I wonder what "skill set" they're referring too given several managers can't seem to find a way to suit it.
  4. When PSG suggest a player is too hard work it's a pretty big red flag.

    Wrestling

No wonder Brock didn't want to work with him after listening to his ideas. The match with him and Jericho started off good and then he had to cut his ear to bleed prefously everywhere. After we had already seen one blood bath between Brody and Darby at the start of the show. What network exec in there right mind is going to watch this and think "This is what we want our network to represent going forwards".

Just caught up with AEW. If Warner Bros Discovery do not renew AEW then Tony Khan is going to look so stupid with the amount of blood he has on his weekly show. What sponsors or advertisers are going to want to be associated with that?

Yeah the Killer Kross in Impact was very Triple H esque. I felt a bit sorry for him in NXT as he had to reign that in slightly and he still looked way out of place. --- I think the big call for Triple H that people will judge him on will be when he decides who should be Roman's successor. The story has lost steam for me since he's stopped showing up to all the PPVs but that will be a big moment for him. The changes to the format and commentary were long needed, I was happy for Kross return, Dexter Lumis I wasn't bothered about but the background story was good, I just lol'd when I saw "Top Dolla" on Smackdown.
  8. At the same token my energy suppliers are turning over billion pound profits but i'm not going to stop paying them. If you enter an agreement then you should honour it.

The new Triple H stuff is going over well. The weekly show feels a lot more easier to watch which isn't saying much given how much time was consumed by entrances and ad breaks. Not sure what to make of Karrion Krosd going straight to the top though.
  10. It sounds like La Liga have rejected this as not "new" money and they must pay €37.5m tax on this payment. You cannot make this up.
  11. Christian Benteke has signed for DC United. A player who has scored more Premier League goals than the likes of Fernando Torres, Carlos Tevez, Eric Cantona, Luis Suarez, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang. An incredible loss to the competition that will be sorely missed.
  12. I really like this Tebas bloke. He's really not scared to take on Barcelona to save themselves. He's the complete opposite of Richard Masters, whose overseeing a three year investigation in to Man City's finances, and has swiftly prevented Newcastle from circumventing FFP in the same fashion Man City did.
  13. I have no sympathy for any player that joined them this summer. Raphinia, Christianson and Kounde all had good contracts lined up for them at Chelsea but they chose to put on there birdbox cloth over there eyes and chase the Barcelona fantasy that died when Neymar left. The same with Lewandowski who 'fancied a new challenge'. All you have to do is look at how legends of the club have been treated, the mental transfer spending, the way they're forcing out players with smear campaigns and the Frenkie De Jong story to know something is seriously wrong. It needs one of the Governing Bodies to impose some form of transfer ban to save the club from itself. This gambling of a Super League that only three clubs seem willing to participate in at present is crazy and something UEFA shouldn't be best pleased about. If the stories about Martin Braithwaite holding out for his full pay are true then he should be hailed as a hero. He was signed in completely unreasonable circumstances and the smear campaign pointing out his wealth through his property investments is completely unreasonable. If they release him because he won't take a pay cut without paying his wages he's going to get a lot more than the club owe him now at court.

  15. Very sad news. Andrejs Rubins had a big impact in his short time at Crystal Palace. He scored a magnificent 30 yard goal against Premier League's Leicester Ciry and his goal in the League Cup semi final against Liverpool allowed Crystal Palace fans everywhere to dream. Others may know him as the ridiculously good Latvian on Championship Manager 2002. 43 is no age to go and a stark reminder to make the most out of everyday.
  16. Playing devil's advocate I can see why referees have been hesitant to agree to this because nobody will ever want to interview a referee for a good performance. It will just be for the 50/50 and crap decisions.
  17. It looks like Arsenal will continue to play him. I dont know how any fan can be comfortable with it.
  18. There was a documentary series on Vice called 'The Dark Side of Wrestling' which reviewed some of the more well-known mental stuff that has happened (it looks like they'll need to do one for the present day at the minute) and at the end of one episode Rob Van Dam said "Never meet your heroes" which was his suttle way of saying they're all a bunch of c*nts.
  19. If Arsenal were aware of this then not suspending him is a shocking decision.
  20. Yeah the EPPP (behind the formation of the Premier League) is the second worst thing that's happened to the lower tiers. I couldn't believe Gareth Southgate of all people proposed it. The cost to run a Cat A (or even a Cat B in most cases) academy is very expensive for these clubs and you're not protected if a big club wants to take a young player as the compensation fees are pathetic. They're arguably better off closing down there academy and cherry picking players 17-21 outside the football league (like Sorba Thomas and Iliman N'Diaye were at Boreham Wood) or picking up released academy players under 23 from Premier League teams and trying to build them back up again (like Brentford did with Mepham).
  21. It sounds like Malcolm Ebiowei has done enough in pre season to convince Patrick Vieira he's good enough for the first team. Right midfielder with similar qualities to Zaha albeit only eighteen years old. He's meant to be the player Derby County have been most excited about from there academy and that includes Kaide Gordon and Liam Delap.
  22. Troy Parrott to Preston is a good one. I really like the business Preston have done this summer.
  23. Good on Chelsea. Its mental that the governing bodies are allowing Barcelona to get away with what they're doing.

I did laugh when Alvarez began shitting on AEW after Tony Khan straight out said he was wrong with one of his reports. If you're going to straight up lie at least don't get butt hurt when people call you out on it. At least Meltzer can claim he's a brilliant historian, Alvarez is just a straight up cuck.
  25. 1 Middlesbrough 2 Norwich 3 Watford 4 Burnley 5 Sheffield United 6 West Brom I can't see any other team finishing within the top two that isn't in this category of six. I've placed Middlesbrough and Norwich in the top two as I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the other four miss out on the playoffs. Wilder and Smith are the best two managers in this league so as long as there clubs recruit wisely they should feel confident this season. You just know Wilder's still annoyed at how last season finished so he'll have his team fired up too. 7 Millwall 8 QPR 9 Preston 10 Stoke City 11 Luton The next five teams are teams that I don't think are as good as the top six but I wouldn't be surprised if they made the playoffs. Preston are my outside surprise as I rate there manager and the business they've done this summer. 12 Coventry 13 Bristol City 14 Hull City 15 Swansea 16 Sunderland The next category are teams that I wouldn't be surprised to see in the top half but the playoffs will be out of reach. None of these teams should be concerned with relegation albeit Hull are an unknown entity at the minute. 17 Blackburn 18 Huddersfield 19 Cardiff City 20 Wigan I don't think any of the above four will get relegated but they'll essentially have nothing seasons. If any of them finish in the top half they would have done really well. 21 Reading 22 Blackpool 23 Birmingham 24 Rotherham I'll be very surprised if three of these four teams do not get relegated this season. Wigan may get sucked in to the battle but these four teams feel way off the rest of the competition at present. I think League One can be separated in to two tiers. The teams that wouldn't surprise me to make the playoffs and the times I wouldn't be surprised to see get relegated. I've ranked the top tier based on how impressed I was with how they ended the season and transfer business since. I've just ranked the bottom tier from stability to chaos. 1. Sheffield Wednesday 2. Peterborough 3. Derby County 4. Wycombe 5. Bolton 6. MK Dons 7. Ipswich 8. Portsmouth 9. Oxford 10.Barnsley 11. Charlton 12. Fleetwood 13. Plymouth 14. Shrewsbury 15. Exeter 16. Cambridge United 17. Burton Albion 18. Accrington 19.Morecambe 20. Bristol Rovers 21. Lincoln 22. Port Vale 23. Cheltenham 24. Forest Green
