EFL Championship - Promotion & Play-offs Run-in
The Palace Fan replied to Stan's topic in The Football League Forum
I think the palyoffs are pretty much set with Norwich's remaining fixtures. I'd quite like to see Sara at Palace so selfishly I don't want them to go up. I still think it's Leicester's to lose but the matchday going fans really need to get behind them for the remaining fixtures, there seems to be a darker cloud over them than the other three competing teams when things aren't going there way even though Southampton's odds for automatic promotion were huge a couple of weeks back. -
EFL Championship 23/24 - Relegation Battle

This weekend feels like a must win for Sheffield Wednesday. I'd feel a bit bad for Danny Rohl, as given it took them 13 odd games to get there first win, he's done a very good job with them. I reckon it will be the current three that go down. -
EFL League One & Two Permutations 2023/24

Hats off to Crawley. I, and many round here, thought this was going to certainly be the year they drop out the football league. To be in the playoffs is some achievement and all those involved in the recruitment have done a brilliant job. -

Leeds are a point behind and still have Southampton and Middlesbrough away to play. All four of Ipswich's games are difficult if Huddersfield are fighting relegation on the last game of the season. I still on paper make you favourites, even if you are wetting the bed as we speak. -

Leicester City have gone from being on cruise control to forgetting how to turn on the ignition. -
It was one of my favourite WrestleManias to be honest with 21 and 30. Partly because we managed to get more of my friends who hadn't watched for years involved and they were all hooked. It's very rare you get a feelgood show where everything clicks in to place perfectly and this one had it.

Matt Slater mentioned this last summer when asked if fines would reign in some of the out of control spending we see. He said if Todd Boehly is told that he will receive a fine for spending over a certain amount, he would go well over that amount and factor the fine in to the losses. If he can realise that when asked on the spot, then Richard Masters should forsee this from a mile off.

They have a chance to make things better and only seem content on making things worse. The Premier League members cannot be the ones to make this decision. They've all got there own self interests. It's time for Richard Masters to grow a pair and show there's not a need for an independent regulator.

Do you think Jay White would have believed you if you told him when he chose to join AEW that he would be losing to Billy Gunn a year later?

EFL Championship - Promotion & Play-offs Run-in

I think it's still Leicester's title to lose. There run in is significantly better than that of Leeds or Ipswich. Norwich or Coventry for 6th place feels very difficult to call. -
Fans and the media are already terrible when it comes to wanting new shiny toys every transfer window in an industry where 90%+ of professional clubs run at a loss. If you take away the threat of on field punishment then it would become the wild west. I think the way forwards is the Spanish model with an abolishment of the transfer window. On June 30th, instead of in September as it is in Spain, clubs show the Independent Regulator revenues they have generated in the last year. The regulator then informs him exactly how much they can spend on wages.

That's pretty shocking. It feels like promotion or real trouble.

Bournemouth had Justin Kluivert, Tyler Adams, Antoine Semenyo, Milos Kerkez, Max Aarons, Enes Unal and Romaine Favre on the bench. Now our bench had Odsonne Edouard complimented by Jeffrey Schlupp, Nathaniel Clyne, James Tomkins and a load of kids who are nowhere near ready to start a game for us. Steve Parish has had an absolute mare and is very fortunate that other teams have had point deductions. Any other season and we're relegated which is what we deserve.

Ah I get you now. Yeah, I'm not happy about my club being one of the loudest voices in that current debate. The PL clubs only have themselves to blame that there's now an independent regulator being put in place.
