  1. Bit off course but I was reading a book on The Death of WCW and in 2000 TNT did a mass survey amongst wrestling fans across America asking them what they wanted to see more and less of. The overriding feedback was they wanted more of a focus on wrestling. No more mad angles, no more weirdness, no more unnecessary stunts, no more politics, no more pushes that don't make sense, just more wrestling. Obviously they didn't listen, Vince Russo became champion and Mike Awesome became That 70's Guy . But yes, Okada / Jay White will probably be match of the year. Set a huge standard given we've seen about four contenders already.
  2. Don't listen to Willie. His sick Yoshi / Anime fantasies cloud his judgement.
  3. 2021 scares me.
  4. AEW nailed there tribute this week.
  5. Thats incredibly sad. Really feel for his close friends and family. Only 41 and came across as in very fit and healthy for a man of his size. Really hits home that none of us know whats really round the corner.
  6. Positives: Roman Reigns / Kevin Owens was great story telling. The Fiend / Orton match was pretty cool. The Hurt Business have more gold. Negatives: Seems weird that the ending of the storyline of fans caring about Lana is Charlotte becoming Champion. Miz and Morrison becoming a comedy act is pretty disheartening. They're not even chickenshit heels.
  7. Predictions for TLC? - Sasha Banks beating Carmella because nothing else makes sense. - Shayna and Nia defeating Asuka and her mystery partner. Fancy it being Dana Brooke or Billie Kay. I can't see it being Charlotte because you wouldn't want any of them four taking the pin. - The Hurt Business beating The New Day. This feud doesn't really make sense unless The Hurt Business get the titles. - Randy Orton setting The Fiend on fire but The Fiend no sells it and goes after Randy Orton. - Drew McIntyre leaving as Champion. Albeit it wouldn't surprise me if they do something unsuspected because Raw raitings are so shitty. - Roman Reigns beating Kevin Owens. No way is he dropping the title now.
  8. Just noticed Twitter is having a meltdown over raitings as Raw have hit their lowest in some time. Personally, I dont think live raitings are the 'be all end all'. Its definitely not fair to compare raitings now to 10+ years ago. We live in age where people can watch highlights off YouTube and Twitter or just prefer to listen to a podcast recap. There's even Wrestling related podcasts where they admit to not watching the weekly show ffs . There's also other factors like no live audience and Raw being the B show now which would have affected the raitings. That said, to go from 4 million in 2016 (which we will probably look back as a real golden year) to 2 million in 2018 (which is possibly the worst year I can think of) to 1.5 million now is alarming. Personally think they're paying the price for showing too much respect to previous generations. The decline started when they ditched the Kevin Owens / Chris Jericho main event stuff to make Goldberg Champion. They then have a creation in Bray Wyatt whose momentum got completely shafted by Goldberg becoming Champion. They have Drew and Roman at the minute who could get people talking with an epic man event feud, but they choose to retire Undertaker for the 50th time to close off Survivor Series. I know AEW are not everyone's cuppa but they have a better balance with legends. They'll introduce them for the interest Spike but they're used to elevate the talent who are in or approaching their prime. In WWE any legend that comes back is looking at a title run. I can't see the raitings picking up any time soon. You look at other industries that WWE will see as entertainment competitors and the top is surrounded by younger creative minds. Vince surrounds himself with people like Bruce Pritchard.
  9. Nah man, he gave a parking lot brawl 5 stars. This was another level. They traded finishers in the ring and everything.
  10. Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. Even Meltzer couldn't give it a rating.
  11. Edge Orton for match of the year hands down.
  12. I'll try and let it not influence my end of year award votes.
  13. So basically, you want an extra week off full pay whilst everybody else struggles to find and fund last minute childcare.
  14. Jesus you must be fun to watch Wrestling with
  15. Its the manner in how Mox lost the title is why its must watch. It made Sting an afterthought. Best episode of Dynamite yet.
  16. AEW Dynamite this week is must watch.
  17. They've missed so many opportunities over the years to appeal to a younger audience its rather embarrassing. Take having four members of The Bullet Club on the roster and just dancing around the idea for years, young people lap up that stuff. At the minute on screen you've got Roman and Drew are pretty hot at the minute in the US and the UK (and could be hotter) but they rely on the old guard for Survivor Series. Then off screen you have them focusing on TV raitings as opposed to trying to impact platforms such as Twitch, Netflix and Amazon to appeal to a younger audience. I can't see the situation changing if you have Bruce Pritchard calling the shots. They need fresh ideas. Not someone who just says "he was the right guy at the time" fifty times on a podcast because he's incapable of looking beyond his nose.
  18. He seems to think its still 1998 when it comes to Goldberg. It really wouldn't surprise me if he sees Goldberg as the biggest threat to Roman.
  19. Great photo of The Undertaker leaving last night. I still hope to see a cinematic match with Sting at some point. Regardless of how nice to that tribute was. The hologram of Paul Bearer was a real nice touch.
  20. I can't see Undertaker wrestling. The cinematic stuff was a good way to ensure he didn't make a tit of himself. Would quite like to see him and Sting do something like that as Triple H robbed us off that classic for his ego.
  21. Predictions for tonight? - Chief Roman to beat Drew McIntyre thanks to interference. - Team Raw mens team will confidently beat Team Smackdown. Not sure if they click with AJ or after he gets eliminated. A big shout that Seth will either kayfabe no show or not get in the ring with Matt Riddle once. - Sasha Banks to win. They can't gave her lose at the minute. - Bobby Lashley to beat Sami Zayn. I'll be amazed if he doesn't win. - Street Profits to beat New Day. They need this more. - Team Raw Womens to beat Team Smackdown. Smackdown think they win as they've forgotten about Lana. She comes in and gets the win. - Lars Sullivan to win the battle royal to make an impression.
  22. I've avoided the Broken Skull sessions after the original series when he slated Ambrose at a time when he was Champion and spent half the Heyman episode talking about himself. Just reeked of a has been trying to remain relevant.
