  1. Any worry of a near miss hangover for Thomas Frank after yesterday, Danny?
  2. He's prepping that dad bod.
  3. Why is Pat McAfee feuding with Adam Cole? Why has Vince McMahon only just seen Street Fighter and tried to incorporate it to Raw? This is the second year in a row where the build up to Summer Slam has been shoddy.
  4. I think if Cody was mixing with them he would be in the same category.
  5. Yes. Cody would be up against not only Brawn and The Fiend (who crrative would prefer anyway) but also AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, The Miz, John Morrison, Cesaro, Nakamura, Sheamus and Jeff Hardy. A lot of solid B level players there and Cody will slot somewhere in the middle.
  6. Im not sure he would. He definitely wouldnt on Smackdown. They're stacked at the minute even without Roman. Raw he'd have more of a chance but he would still need to compete with Orton and Rollins for that opportunity.
  7. It all started off really well. Got himself in a popular faction with Randy Orton and when on Smackdown he got plenty of air time and opportunity as a singles superstar. That 'era' of WWE superstar (emerging late naughties, early 2010/11) was held back by the fact they merged the brands back together. The exceptional still stood out in CM Punk and eventually Daniel Bryan whilst the very good in Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler etc never had the trigger pulled. The Shield, Bray Wyatt and NXT came along and that was it. The last time i thought they may push him was going in to MITB in 2013 but they chose his tag partner in Damien Sandow to win it (and then do nothing). The tag team with Goldust and the Stardust character should have been done at the beginning of his character as opposed to the end. That just screamed of tag team run to lower midcarder.
  8. Im still baffled as to why they did that.
  9. Yeah, a heel turn is most logical. I think theyll experiment with a face faction of a modern day four horsemen (FTR & Spears included) prior to that though. Yeah I agree about the booking at present with AEW. I think Kenny Omega's momentum can be easily built up though. I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up in a position to be a convincing champion by the end of the year if he gets out this tag team with Adam Page and wins a convincing feud against him Really like Keith Lee though. The performance at Survivor Series really solidified it for me. He's the right face for the long term of the brand. The treatment of the big guys has been odd. Theyve just been thrown as meat for the estbalished names to conquer immediatly. I could understand Brodie Lee (and Wardlow) but not building Brian Cage and Lance Archer more just seemed off. Brian Cage looks like Vince McMahon's wet dream of an ideal wrestler. I remember them talking about this heavily when he first joined Impact. That interview really has affected him going forwards. I get a lot of these guys probably didnt think they'd get to WWE level at the time, but you have to wonder what was going through their heads to speak so freely about stuff like this, let alone actually do it. Nah i recorded it and watched it the following morning.
  10. I really hope this doesn't apply to the EFL. They need far longer than ten weeks to reorganise themselves following the impact of covid.
  11. The WWE 'sloppy seconds' stuff is a bit harsh as the guys they've hired were generally popular in WWE. They need established names anyway. I wouldnt say Jon Moxley has gone stale either but thats personal opinion. The popcorn wrestling stuff just needs to be left to be left to the tag divison as an alternative to WWE as opposed to the whole show. I did sigh for the first time since he left WWE when Cody came out the other night. Imagine the heat Triple H would have got in the naughties if he created a stipulation that ensured he would get a long match every week where he wins whilst playing the good guy.
  12. I dont get why people feel the need to pick and choose a side. Competition brings out the best in everybody. If you can't enjoy wrestling now then you shouldn't be watching it at all.
  13. I thought about it but hes had several long periods of leave even during the peak of his career thats hindered him. He doesnt need to do backflips to be one of the greatest story tellers WWE have had for a very long time. Blasphemy.
  14. Hogan? No chance. BLM would take it down. I respect Cena's dedication but he hasnt influenced the business like others have.
  15. Undertaker and HBK are definites. The other two are up for debate. HHH, Flair, Austin, Rock and Kane all deserve to be in contention. Randy Orton when he retires will be up there. Excellent consistency over 16+ years and a phenomenal story teller.
  16. During lockdown ive kept up with Raw, Smackdown, NXT and Dynamite weekly. Its been easy working from home. The no crowd thing doesnt really bother me. I stopped watching Impact weekly when Dynamite first aired. Ill still watch their major PPVs but given all their top guys will get poached theres just no point. Plus the whole concept of having Tessa as Champion when youve got guys like Moose, Elgin, Cage etc. isnt really an idea I can behind. Im more likely to give NWA a try than Impact if they start that up again.
  17. Michael Elgin released from Impact too. I thought all the stuff going round him are common knowledge? Time to put Moose and EC3 in the main event for Slammiversary.
  18. Ligero and Travis Banks released. Will Devlin and Coffey be in trouble? So much has happened I cant even remember what they've allegedly done.
  19. Impact release World Champion Tessa Blanchard. Most people said this title reign would be a PR car crash after the allegations of bullying and racism surfaced. Im surprised she refused to do promos for them though given how much the company backed her. Thats gratitude for you. Personally hope WWE and AEW dont go near her.
  20. I dont think anybody has a problem with them acknowledging what is popular in wrestling culture to stay ahead of the curve and put a ceiling on other companies. Its made NXT very succesful. Personally though, i feel on this occassion reacting so late comes across as second rate.
  21. NXT hace decided in the eleventh hour that they're going to have a two week Great American Bash special. That puts to bed the 'no other companies have any influence on NXT programming' debate, if it still was one.
  22. Wasnt Banks in his 30's? Regardless if she's 16 or 17, its still odd and creepy. As is Marty Scrull in his mid twenties shagging a 16 year old. Illegal no, but immoral definitely. Whether its legal or not, I imagine this will effect their bookings going forwards in the United States as theyll be judged by their cultural standards. If it came out a Turkish wrestler had sex with a 15 year old i'd be disgusted, to them this is the same thing.
  23. Wow. What a week to not pay attention to my Twitter. So my understanding is this.... Jack Gallagher released with no future endevours speech following multiple sexual assault allegations. El Ligero has admitted to being a creep but denied the criminal allegations. Tyler Bate is a crap flirt and Matt Riddle's lady has been shot down as a stalker. David Starr blackballed from almost every promotion (thank God). A lot of relatively unknown British talent are pretty much screwed going forwards. Joey Ryan and Dave Crist fired from Impact. Michael Elgin suspended. Sammy Guevara and Jimmy Havoc suspended. The former should be fine long term. The latter i guess depends on the conclusion of the investigation. Bea Priestly and Will Ospreay seem to have had no fall back from company's despite an allegation that they covered a rape. Travis Banks and Marty Scrull have admitted to having sex with a 16 year old. They're playing the "but it isnt illegal" card in the UK despite the fact it's definitely immoral. Theres something thats happened with Jim Cornette's wife too that he will no doubt make entertaining.
  24. Sounds like Paul Heyman is stepping down from Raw and Bruce Pritchard is taking over both shows. I can only hope Paul Heyman suggested taking another role in the company as picking Bruce over Heyman from an outsiders perspective looking in seems farcical. Hopefully Raw doesnt become as gimmicky as Smackdown was at the end of last year.
